Yeah things are not going too well right now.

It was encouraging to see Belisle pitch well last night, until the bullpen absolutely imploded

Down 7-0 in the 2nd inning. Man this sucks. Bronson can't get anyone out. The teams vets can't hit their weight. It's only May 4th and I am ready for the Reds to get rid of Dunn and Patterson, and call up some prospects from the Bats. This is just stupid.

I am starting to wonder if they need a fire/sale type situation where they just clean house. Get all new players in there and start over. These guys don't know how to win consistently and haven't for many many years. I say get rid of everyone except Harang, Volquez, Cueto, Cordera, Votto, Phillips, Encarnacion, Bray and Burton (maybe Bako too)...everyone else gone. Get new people.

With Jocketty now running things, I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility. That series in the ATL was awful. Also remember...Dusty was Krivsky's guy and had to sell Castellini on him. There's no guarantee he'll still be around after this season. If they don't have a good showing in this series against the Cubbies starting on Monday, I have a feeling some changes might be made (i.e. Patterson let go, Bruce brought up, Homer brought up, etc.)

Man this team is just horrible!
They need to move Dunn and Griffey ASAP, they just dont care and are going through the motions collecting their millions. This team really lacks talent in alot of areas, the have the worst OF in all of baseball. Their IF is decent but lacks much pop right now, also they have 2 good, 1 decent and 2 horrible starting pitchers! Cordero is a great closer but only has 4 save chances so far this year, that is just unreal! I am really glad Kriskey is gone as many more of his moves than not have been horrible moves.
Signing Stanton, Dunn, Patterson, Freel, Coffey, Fogg, Affedlt, and Hatteberg where all just horrible moves. Not to mention trading for 2 minor league pitchers (Majeski and Bray) when at the time you could have gotten so much more for Lopez and Kearns.
Hopefully the new GM makes some better moves and makes them soon. I just cant believe they have the worst record in baseball!

I was watching the Nationals yesterday, I cant believe how many ex Reds they have, it is comical. Boone, Kearns, Lopez, Willy Mo, and Dmitri Young and Ryan Wagner on the DL.
I cant believe Bowden didnt sign Sean Casey this offseason.

Brendan Harris was also in that deal and he's now a decent player, I believe for the Twins now but for the Rays last year. We gave away Harris for Jorge Cantu. The fourth player was Royce Clayton who we all know sucks and will continue to suck, thankfully no longer in a Reds uniform. And the last player was pitcher Daryl Thompson, who I believe is tearing up AA right now. So if Thompson continues to improve like he has and we hadn't given away Harris for nothing, then the trade would lean heavily in our favor now.

I would like to see Thompson promoted before the end of the season.

Bill Bray was optioned to Triple-A Louisville. David Weathers was activated from the disabled list.

I would have much rather seen Fogg go somewhere than Bray. Unless Fogg is out of options, but heck Bray hasn't given up a run yet this year at the MLB level and from what I recall was dominating the AAA too before his call up. Fogg sucks. Of course so do 85% of the rest of the team, but I digress.

Hey, they got a win tonight. Thought Cueto looked pretty good. Thom and Chris mentioned on tv about how Cueto falls off the mound towards 1B like Bob Gibson used to do. Now if he could only pitch like Bob Gibson for his career, we'd be all set!

That must have happened when I was upstairs on my pc for a little bit. Didn't catch the replay. Well, Junior's done that to plenty of other guys. I guess he had at least one coming to him.

                            No blame in Griffey saga
                            BY PAUL DAUGHERTY | ENQUIRER.COM

The Junior Era in Cincinnati, such as it is, is coming to an end. Ken Griffey Jr. would like to win a championship here, he says, but that’s not going to happen.

The homecoming nine years ago that brought such expectation has been full of empty promises. Griffey’s career here has been nine Christmas Eves, staring at boxes beneath the tree.

There’s no blame. It’s not Griffey’s fault he got hurt. It’s not his fault the Reds lied to him when he arrived. They said they’d build a team around him. He took less-than-market money to make it easier for them. He even deferred half of that, to make it easier still. Nobody does that in baseball. The Reds built nothing.

Griffey told USA Today he’d like to be traded to Seattle. OK, so he didn’t say it quite that way. The quote was, “It’s everybody’s dream to go back where they started. Everybody who plays the game would love to go out the way they see fit.” He made similar statements last summer, when the Reds played the Mariners.

Maybe it’s not the greatest time to revive the trade talk with a big story in a national newspaper, what with the team struggling and all. But, whatever. Junior is Junior. And he’s going to be leaving soon, regardless.

The Reds will not pick up Griffey’s $16.5 million option next year. He’s not going to agree to any “hometown discount,” either. He already did that, nine years ago. Look what it got him.

The Reds will part with Griffey, maybe after the year is up, maybe sooner. There is still the matter of trying to profit on his “race” to 600 home runs. Anytime after 600, all bets are off.

The club will deal Adam Dunn, too, because it can’t afford not to. And then the “era,” such as it was, will be over. The Reds will announce they are “going in a different direction” and give Griffey and Dunn copies of the home game. Sometimes, you have to burn the village to save it.

Or, as Griffey decided this afternoon, “Everybody understands what’s going on around here. The organization will do what it wants to do.”

He sat, splayed, on a big couch in the home clubhouse, surrounded by media. He wondered what the big deal was. “(Media) are making more of an issue of it than I am,” Griffey decided. He was being disingenuous, of course. Griffey dictated this news. The evidence is right there on the cover of USA Today’s sports section.

It’s been a weird nine years. The Hometown Hero portion of the program faded after Griffey’s first season here, as the Reds slid into mediocrity. Griffey, never one to ignore a slight, real or perceived, felt scapegoated. He once said to me of the fans here, “They want to see me fail.”

Part of being a star is being the center of attention, good and bad. Griffey hates being the center of attention. Maybe you’d have warmed to him more if he’d warmed more to you. It doesn’t matter now. The only way the Reds get competitive for any length of time is to go young and cheap, keep a few stars such as Aaron Harang and Brandon Phillips and fill in with moderately priced veterans. Griffey doesn’t fit any of those descriptions.

His time here is done, even as he still plays.

Watch him while you can. Admire the player that was. Bring your impressionable kid to the park. Tell him, “That guy is one of the greatest ballplayers ever. And he did it the right way.”

There has always been a lot to like about Ken Griffey Jr. He’d rather not share it. So be it. He should be sent to Seattle, if the Mariners want to take on his salary. They love him out there. He got a ballpark built. He was the centerpiece of the best teams the Mariners have ever had. They accepted him out there, unconditionally. We have not, for whatever reason.

And the Reds will begin the process of rebuilding, hopefully to last.

Talk of Jr going back "home" to Seattle was all over sports talk here yesterday.
I say get him there and get him there quick! I dont think Seattle would give us much but I would take anything at this point just to open up RF for Jay Bruce.

We have a fairly young team and Jr is gone after this year anyway, its time to cut bait with him and move on to the future and Jay Bruce. Jr has pretty much reached the end of his productive days anyway, 4 HRS and 15 RBI's for a #3 hitter making 16 million a year???

I really think Jr thinks he is going to go back to Seattle and all of the sudden it is going to be 1995 again and he is all of the sudden going to start hitting 50 hrs a year again. I think he wants out of Cincy because he cant take getting bashed by the media and fans for his productivity. The guy makes up a 1/4 of our salary and can not produce anymore, he is a huge reason the Reds are 13-21.

I dont meen to sound like a Griffey ***** because he is one of my all time favorite players, but if he wants to go I said SEE YA! Now if he was a 30 years old and hitting 50 hrs a year and said he wanted to leave Cincy I would say lets do everything we can to keep him. But the truth is you get rid of a unproductive guy that no longer wants to be here.

Wait, he wants to go to a contender yet he wants to go to Seattle?

That doesn't make sense. Seattle is 14-20 right now, not exactly contending. Thats a lateral move for Griffey, at least for right now
