Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!

It's hard to win ballgames when your corner OF's are Wilkerson/Mench, your starting 1B is Scurato, and DH is Stewart. They won today but if the Jays want to stay in playoff hunt, they need to add a bat.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Travis Snider in September. After a slow start at AA, he's really turned it up. He's hitting for a lot of power and drawing a lot of walks although he's strikes out way too much. Adam Lind should be up but he's in JP's doghouse. He has nothing left to prove in AAA yet the Jays would rather go with washed up players like Wilkerson and Stewart instead.

Wow, 12-0. Did not see that one coming. Nice to finally lay a beating on a lefty starter. If we can go .500 on the coast and then take 2 out of 3 from the Yanks I'll consider it a successful road trip.

Keep in mind that the real outfield in a few weeks will probably be Stewart/Wilkerson, Rios, and Wells which I have no problem with.

Rios really needs to get it going though.....as much as I like seeing the other guys hit, the Jays need their big bats to be just that.

Tuesday's game against New York looks like its going to be Halladay/Joba. That should be pretty good.

          We are also good.

Wow that has the potential to be a game for the ages right there. Hopefully the Jays can stay hot throughout this road trip and take 2 out of 3 from the Yanks.

It was also great to see them take the proverbial tire iron to the A's and stomp all over them. I'm starting to worry about Rios though. He's going through the slump of a lifetime right now. I wonder if the Jays organization would consider bringing in Cito Gaston (if he's interested) to take a look at Rios. Cito was a damn good hitting coach before he became manager and perhaps he can add some insight that Denbo isn't.

Sorry for the double post but I found out this morning that yesterday's win was Gibby's 300th. What a way to get your 300th managerial win!

It sounds like the Jays staff know whats wrong with Rios' swing and have told him what he needs to do, at this point its just a matter of him actually doing it.

Gaston would be awesome as a consulting hitting coach and I think that despite yesterdays efforts an upgrade at that staff position would go a long way. I know the Royals were after him recently but he wasn't interested.

Yes and I believe Gaston lives in the Toronto area. At least he did the last time I heard which was a few years ago. The guy has a very keen eye for hitting and being a consultant would be a very easy job that he can do from home most of the time. He'd just have to visit Rogers Centre once in a while to get in contact with the hitters.

Rex Hudler is even more unbearable during a real broadcast than he is in The Show. He is the biggest homer commentary guy I have ever heard. I would also be ecstatic if the Jays can finish this one off and guarantee a .500 west coast trip.

Are you suggesting we should be glad for Jamie Campbell and Rance Mulliniks? Never thought I'd hear that one.

As for tonight, McGowan seemed to be fighting his command but battled through and the offense picked up another big time game. Hopefully we can keep up this roll right into Yankee Stadium and come with a big time road trip. I'm hoping for 7-2 now, but 6-3 wouldn't be too bad either.

Yeah McGowan doesn't seem to have the kind of command or consistent stuff that he had last year but he usually fights through 6 innings so that's pretty good.

Wow another double digit game by the offense! This team is on a huge roll and this May has been off the charts. The Jays have climbed their way into the 3rd best record in the AL. Who the heck thought this team would be able to do this at the end of April?

Not me and I definitely wrote them off early on. But i'm eating my words now.

Going to be tough vs Lackey who's probably in Doc's rear view as the best pitcher in the AL.

No, no, I'm certainly not suggesting that. But I think they should relegate Hudler to to the Jays booth as well just to keep all the worst booth guys in one place.

Too bad I won't have access to the YES broadcasts when they go to NYY. Yeah they're bombastic blowhards but anything is better then Jamie Campbell.

BTW Rance Muliniks isn't so bad but I hate how he's developed into a very talkative analyst. He was much better when he didn't talk so much.
