Re: The 2009 New York Yankees

I don't understand why Girardi had Hughes back on the mound in the 9th after he had already thrown almost 2 innings. Could this be a sign that they are starting to stretch Hughes out again? Is Hughes going into the rotation? If Bruney were pitching well I would think this were the case but they need Hughes in the pen right now.

What is going to happen with Joba's inning limit?

I think possibly, Peter Abraham posted his recent usage.
        July 23: 2.0 innings, 28 pitches
        July 24: off
        July 25: off
        July 26: 1.1 innings, 39 pitches
        July 27: off
        July 28: off
        July 29: off
        July 30: 2.0 innings, 35 pitches

That seems like they are possibly stretching him out. But it's also possible that they just thought Hughes gave them the best chance. I don't think Aceves was available and they wanted to save Mariano, so they might have just wanted to try to get one more out of Hughes.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Joba. The logical thing seemed to let Joba get close to his limit and then transition Hughes to the rotation and Joba to the pen. But now Joba is pitching so well I don't think they'd take him out of the rotation. Maybe they skip him every once in awhile, or make up an injury and dl him for a few weeks so he doesn't pitch too much. It's a tough spot.

Yanks picked-up Jerry Hairston Jr from the Reds. Still trying to find out who we gave-up. We also called up Shelly Duncan.

EDIT: Yanks give up Catcher Rochard Weems..

Hopefully he replaces Ransom. I doubt it though.

Edit: But if Duncan is still coming, than maybe he will.

If they are thinking about stretching Hughes out, this game certainly helps that decision. Mitre is getting bombed.

                Hinske, FTW!

He's been a solid addition to our team, 5 home runs now as a Yankee in 7 games.

It's bad enough that Ransom is on the team, that makes absolutely no sense. But why is he starting at 1b? Why wouldn't you put Swisher at first and Hinske in right if you want to DH Teixiera?

Hinske has tore the cover off the ball since the Yankees got him, why wouldn't you ride the hot hand, especially when even at his worst he's a better player than Ransom?

Another terrible game today. Burnett was due for a bad one, so you can't go too crazy over that. At the same time though, you can't walk the #9 hitter with the bases loaded twice. And more bad defense and baserunning today.

Re: The 2009 New York Yankees

the yanks need another starter and badly this mitre clown who has had a horrid track reccord in the mlb is not the answer. I can not believe im saying this but mark prior is a new free agent why not take a chance on him he is definatley better thatn anyone else the yankees wanna slot into the 5th spot of the rotation. i would say call up a prospect but the yanks best pitching prospect ( i would assume it is delin betances) needs a few more months in the minors and most of there other pitching prospects are in double A and single A ball. and considering that ther is no one in our bull pen that can do it ( Aceves is good but burns out after 4 innings and hughes has not been pitching enough innings to slot him back in the rotation) here are our options

                    1. Sergio Mitre
                    2. Kei igawa
                    3. mark prior

so lets see what we have the clown a hedeki irabu reincarnation and a former cy young candidate. i say go for prior because at least he has shown in the past that he can pitchb

Re: The 2009 New York Yankees

just unbelievable can't deal with mitre anymore we need to make a move to get a starter, we have to. playing sloppy defense lately pitching has been faltering and the offense is sleeping. so ridiculous we were 3.5 up on boston and now just .5 up.

when asked today on fox on how he though about the teams position girardi said he felt good about their position. really? you feel good about rapidly falling losing horid games, letting the lead slip away. i can't take girardi anymore. time to get a real manager, none of this coaching the team like its the little league. no emotion doesn't get on players for things.

doesn't get on cano's case for always swinging at the first pitch, doesn't get on anybody about not hustling or making bad plays. when pitchers have horrible outings and its batting practice his response is well i thought he still threw the ball well. this isn't little league we don't have time to have hope and give everybody a billion chances.

if players aren't performing don't give them the chance. why is ransom still on this team? because its the little league mentallity. girardi has hopes and believes in him so he wants to give him a chance, i'm done with ransom. i'm done with girardi. done with this little league non sense.
