Litsch didn't even look all that great his last outing either as well. Hopefully it's nothing structural. Out of the two kids i'd bring up Cecil.

Oh and the Jays better be working on a Longoria type deal with Snider ASAP! I know JP was burned with Eric Hinske but Snider is a far more advanced hitter and has a lot more to offer then Hinske did in his first season.

So I guess Tallets getting Litsch's start..sigh.. supposedly they don't expect more than 3 innings out of him.
And I agree about locking up Snider, we are all still a little gun shy over that Hinske fiasco but this kid's gonna be something special. Imagine an outfield with no holes in it for a change sweet!

Ricky looks great Mr cool under pressure, glad to see they left him out their to get through that base's loaded jam..In fact unless I missed it they didn't even visit the mound, good little confidence boost for the rookie.

Twins right fielder Michael Cuddyer was in awe."He could go out there one day and just throw all cutters and beat you, and then he could go out there one day and just throw all sinkers and beat you, and then he could go out there and throw all curveballs one day and beat you," Cuddyer said. "Today he had all three of 'em. ... It's hard to find a better pitcher over the last seven or eight years than him."
Halladay improved to 8-0 with a 2.77 ERA in his career against the Twins, who failed to hit a fly ball while he was in the game.
What an honor to get to see this guy pitch every 5 games.

Indeed, up to last year I clung to my old saw that Dave Stieb was the best starting pitcher in Jays history but that's changed. It's definitely Doc now. The man is on the cusp of an exciting and dominant 2nd half to his career. I just hope the Jays can keep the good times rolling this year as Doc has said he wants to stick with this team. This is one star sports figure I believe when they say that. The guy is nothing but class and is a bit of a hidden gem because of where he plies his trade but those who follow the game know just how dominant and amazing he is.

Well certainly, the market fits Doc's low-key style, he's never one for the media attention and this city won't be a pressure cooker in terms of baseball-related coverage.

But he can say all the right things and this still stands: if the Jays don't remain competitive, Doc will get lured away. Simple as that.

Man this game started off SCARY with Tallet seemingly injured. Thankfully it was nothing and he was able to keep the Jays in the game. The bats weren't exactly booming but they played pretty well. This was the kind of game the Jays wouldn't have won last year.

Nice to see Lyle come through, but wow did this game just drag..And SPTO you're right we would have lost that game last year, and lost all momentum/spirit for the next game.

                    Another series victory!

I'm a little worried about the bats though as it looks like they're heading into a slump. Hopefully the starting pitching can hold up til they get hot again. Ricky Romero just impresses the hell out of me. It'll be interesting to see how he does his 2nd time through the league though.

For all the question marks surrounding them, I am really liking how this year is turning out. Ricky is brilliant. Purcey is even better than I thought, as is Richmond, although I was expecting nothing out of either three. Halladay is still the best man in the freaking world. Snider is second, and needs to be locked up like Longoria NOW! I know, I know... Henske. But still, the club is impressing me, and the prospects coming up are just better.

Yet another game there is no way this team wins a season ago. Now, we all know it shouldn't have gotten to where it was, but I like the resiliency the team is finally showing. The MLB Tonight interview with Kevin Millar on the Jays site is a must watch, the guy is absolutely hilarious. Also, something that may be of interest:
Manager Cito Gaston, steadfast in his support of Ryan since the spring, seemed less certain about his closer's future in the role afterwards, although he said it was too early to think about making any sort of change.

Ryan has two blown saves in four chances so far.

"It's something that we have to sit down and talk with B.J., certainly talk with J.P.(Ricciardi)," said Gaston. "He's having trouble with his control to me. I don't know if he's hurting or not hurting, but we'd certainly like to see him do a little bit better than that.

"That's not going to get it for us."

I can't really blame BJ for that blown save. Aaron Hill botched an easy DP (at least for him) and the inning started on a hit batter who didn't even bother to get out of the way. It's not like BJ was complete crap. As for the rest of the game it was nice to see Rios actually getting some hits even if they weren't of the XB variety. Millar had a rough day at the office on the field but that guy is CLUTCH! No wonder he was so loved in Boston and Baltimore.

Hopefully Richmond can keep us in the game against Millwood tomorrow/tonight.

Romero on 15 day DL with right oblique strain

Man this comes totally out of nowhere. It's retroactive to April 20th so it's safe to say he's going to miss a start or two. What's with the Jays never catching any breaks health wise?

                                Fresh news:

Da Beej is on Da Shelf. BJ Ryan has been placed on the 15 day DL. I hate to say it but I think last night was the last time the man has pitched as the undisputed closer of the Blue Jays. I have a feeling Scott Downs is going to take that role and run away with it.
