Yeah it does. Rolen went to the DL today for post-concussion, I guess. It's a shame they're in the position they are in. Hopefully the guys getting playing time in a number of players' absences will help them in the future.

Again can anyone tell me why Janish is not playing SS everyday now?
I know Gonzo had 4 hits last night but the guy is not even going to be here next year.
Why are we still playing him at all?? Why wouldnt we with the season all but over be playing guys that will be on our team next year?

Have no idea. I guess they think Gonzalez is worth playing because he's a better hitter and makes more $$$? I really don't know. Let Janish play and see what he can do at this point. Lots of valuable time to take a look at some younger players.

Our pitchers are dropping like flies. Homer took a line-drive off of his foot from Pujols tonight? X-rays were negative. At this rate, Justin Lehr could end up being our #1 starter, especially if Harang and Arroyo get dealt. Doubt that will happen during the season but still.

Only emoticons can express my feelings for the Reds this year. It's gotten that bad. Now it's not even about playing poorly, we're just completely decimated by injuries.

                Today is a great day.
Madden comes out and Alex Gonzalez has just been traded to the Red Sox!
                Thank God.

Thank God that Gonzalez is gone. But since this is happening, it now makes total sense why he was being played so much. I guess him going 4-4 the other day probably helped a little as well.

Exactly! I should have thought about that when I was cursing them for playing him. lol
Now maybe Willy Taveras will go 50 for his next 50, get his on base % over .300 and some team will want him.

                            Rather have Hall than Rolen

Brewers general manager Doug Melvin is "working on something" for Bill Hall.
"I'm working on something," Melvin said. "I've gotten some interest. I don't want to say which teams have called or what we're working on, though." Hall was designated for assignment last week. The team has until Friday to trade or release him, absorbing the $10-plus million that remains on his contract. The Reds are believed to be a potential suitor.

I saw that on Rotoworld earlier too. The weird thing is, Bill Hall always killed the Reds. As long as he comes cheaply, why not give him a shot? Although, I wouldn't mind the kids getting some good experience the rest of the season. He ain't one of them.

                                LOL, unbelievable.

As he has done so often this year, center fielder Willy Taveras broke poorly on the ball, running laterally to his left before realizing the ball was over his head. It fell for a double. He doesn’t get on base. When he does he doesn’t steal when it is needed. He was brought in to be a leadoff hitter and couldn’t do it and is now batting second. And he is below average in the field. What can Taveras do? He has a nice stereo set in the clubhouse that plays loud, headache-inducing salsa music.
And holy cahooties. Taveras just hit a ground ball to the mound and trotted toward first base. Didn’t run. Jogged. Stopped before he got to the bag. Manager Dusty Baker immediately yanked him from the lineup, replacing him with Laynce Nix.
The Reds later announced that Taveras has a strained right quadriceps muscle. I don’t question the injury, but it was awfully convenient
As far as I’m concerned, and many other fans are concerned, Taveras can rot on the bench the rest of the season. I’ve seen nothing to merit the millions the Reds have flushed down the toilet when they brought this guy in.
Baker said Taveras hurt himself early in the game when he bunted and dove head first into the first-base bag as the ball rolled foul. He stayed in and couldn’t run the next at-bat.
“I knew something was wrong when I saw him not run, because that’s not Willy,” said Baker.
