i loved bonds when he was playing for the giants but that time is over. As far as the hitting or lack there of i really want to see schierholtz get the starts in the outfield over lewis, i'm so sick and tired of watching that guy make out after out, they could outright release the guy as far as i'm concerned.

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants
Bonds would still the lead this team in HR though! Which is not good!! I say trade Timmy or Cain for a stud #4 hitter. We are loaded down on the farm in pitching. I love Timmy, but if we keep losing we are going to be able to sign him and what do you about Cain? You can't sign both, especially with what you are paying Zito. I would trade Timmy now! I know remix you would say that is crazy, but it would make this team better now. SF is a big market believe it or not. And we can sign players that are good. That is what we used to do. I say get rid of Sab too!Comment

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants
That is the thing this team will win me back and I will be happy again with the players, but in reality they suck! The whole team is playing like crap. Yesterday it was the hitters fault tonight it was the pitcher's fault. It get ****ing old!Comment

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants
You know my viewpoint, regardless of my personal relationship with him. I agree, it's the guys in the front office that are the problem, not the guys on the field.
Of course, if we could just get Bonds and teach our pitchers to hit, we would be just fine.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants
I would, if we don't start hitting he wont say on this team. He will go to Seattle. The 2 guys we have down on the farm are great pitchers too. The only way I trade Timmy is for Haney Ramirez or Adrian Gonzalez.Comment

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants
Alright guys, enough is enough. We must petition to get Bonds.
Here are their stats and ranks in the following offensive categories / followed by the top ranked team's number:
Runs Scored
154 (30th) / 249 (Rays)
Home Runs
22 (30th) / 69 (Yankees)
Runs Batted In*
143 (30th) / 237 (Rays)
Total Bases
492 (29th) / 722 (Blue Jays)
Base on Balls
106 (30th) / 196 (Dodgers)
Number of Pitches (thrown to)
5615 (30th) / 6936 (Rays)
Extra Base Hits
99 (29th) / 162 (Rays, Yankees)
On Base + Slugging Percentage
.677 (29th) / .829 (Yankees)
* Yes, runs batted in are separate from runs scored when looking at offensive performance, even though the same teams rank first and last.
The reason I show the other teams is because it's important to understand how well the Giants are actually able to hold into games with their pitching, while these other teams are not doing the best that they could be because of their inability to keep games close (minus the Dodgers). I mean the Giants are now 15 - 2 when scoring first in the game, that just shows how dominant their pitching is (and their two losses were 2 - 1 ball games... just shows how well their pitching stayed in it and how they couldn't seem to score again). With that being said, I say we keep pitching as is and just work with Sanchez and Johnson's control a wee-bit more.
Number of pitches (thrown to) is important to look at as well. The reason Randy Johnson can't throw more than six innings normally is the other team works him to his limit and he's pulled out too early. The Giants, as you can see, draw very few walks and don't see many pitches. They look foolish up there swinging at junk a lot (Aurilia, Lewis, Uribe, and often times Sandoval) and just plain guessing at what the opposition is throwing. At least Bonds will work the count and wait for a decent pitch to hit, and if he doesn't in time than he'll either walk or tip his hat to the pitcher for earning two strikes. Even then he still has a chance to do something.
If we took a shot at grabbing Manny (though as you can see he would not have lasted long), we would be in business right now and our team would be going smoothly. We should not go after a power lefty hitter because AT&T Park simply doesn't favor lefties. AT&T Park is already only seeing 1.10 home runs per game (ranking only second lowest to Atlanta's Turner Field), and only 6 out of 23 of the home runs have gone out to right field. Bonds was an exception to this rule as he could power it out. I'm not saying that he could still do it, but even if he fails to do so, there is little cost.
In fact, in a way we profit. He will play for the league minimum and AT&T Park will start selling out daily again (or at least the games he plays). Ryan Howard will draw fans I suppose, but spending $18 million will not take us out of the red, and he's not quite the attraction that Bonds is for this city. Besides, we don't want an all-or-nothing bat right now. We need hitters that have a plan when they're up to the plate, which is why I'm liking Molina a lot right now.
And of course, I've already made the earlier post that he would be motivated. And like Scottdau said, he would be a great mentor for Lewis who is struggling right now, as he could benefit Ishikawa as well. Hell, helped All-Star veteran Steve Finley when he came to San Francisco on how to get the quick bat around at an older age. Lewis can't catch up to the fastball right now and that's what he's normally best at. Bonds can get him back there, while the hitting coach can just stand aside like he is right now, being puzzled as ever.
There is no downside to having Bonds on the team. Don't give me the "team cancer," "media circus" crap, as that does not even matter. You look at this team and tell me how it is we have "incredible chemistry" to begin with? Besides, now the only exposure the Giants get is about how poorly they're performing. Nobody cares about them anymore. Bonds will certainly help that. Oh, and he hasn't been a headcase for the media for a very long time, much less the city. Sure, they'll be on him (for some reason) scrutinizing this prolonged trial delay, but he's not going to fire back at them with anything. He's not juicing now and that's all that matters for them, so I don't know why they would be picking at his jock anyway. If he struggles so much that he is actually doing worse for the team (which I think is impossible at this point), he would walk out on his own terms before they release him so long as he understands those negative effects. But for the time being, he can help provide an extra couple of runs per game, which would give us 15 more wins this season (which is a hell of a lot).
At this point we have nothing to lose. And as I said once before, the longer they wait, the less validity any of my arguments have for him being a positive effect for this club offensively.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants
we need to make a package deal for dunn from washington, i'm sure we could deal some minor prospects for him as he was quoted as saying while they were in sf a week ago that he was surprised sf didn't sign him. i just do not want to trade either tim or matt or for that matter sanchez although i could see him going somewhere. And what about lewis last night geez he must have closed his eyes when he swung and hit that hr, lol.Comment

Re: 2009 San Francisco Giants
Cain is on the trading block, it has to be done. I like Cain a lot, but we need a big bat and he can get you a big bat. He is dealing right now. I say keep Timmy and the 2 young studs at the farm and go get a big bat. Next year you can be a team to contend again!Comment
