This is such an exciting night! I was saying all day that they were clinching tonight!

I still get goosebumps seeing the walk off HR!

Classy, brother. Thanks for the good wishes. Looking forward to future battles with the Cards. As long as the Cubs continue to suck, right?

What a way to end the game tonight. I had the thought cross my mind during commercial before the bottom of the 9th about how cool it would be if Jay were to hit it out and end the game. I'm so glad that happened. Been a long 15 years. They celebrated clinching the division in Philly that season. 20 years ago they celebrated winning the West, despite losing that day, thanks to a Dodgers loss, I think. I much prefer this way with a walk-off on the home field. Awesome! Now let's get that #2 seed!

            Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

I am here to eat some crow. I have not posted much in this thread this season, maybe I was afraid of jinxing the team when they were playing well, I dunno.

Regardless, I have been railing against Dusty since he was hired in Cincinnati. I didn't like him, didn't want him to lead the Reds and thought it was a colossal waste of time. I've been pretty firm with this across the years, and yet tonight I sit here and see the Reds clinch the division. This season I have watched a young team grow up together, an MVP candidate emerge, and so much more. Yet what I mainly watched was a good baseball team, play baseball that was fun to watch, and winning baseball too. So hats off to Dusty, he got this team to a place where I never thought they'd go under his direction: the playoffs.

So many disappointing seasons for the Reds, I almost became accustomed to the losing. No more. This is a good ball club, and I can't wait to see them play October baseball. And you bet your *** I'm making it down there for a playoff game.

Who else was at the game? Pandimonium everywhere! Party on Main street immediatly following. If any Reds team deserves this its these guys. From Votto to the pitching to the super subs.

I've known for sure for at least a week or two we'd be going to the playoffs but now for it to be real... just WOW!

Anyone know where to hear the clip of Marty calling that one? I heard it last night in the post game wrap up, but sorta want it in my iTunes.

Also how cool was the fog downtown this morning? It was like the city itself was hungover.

I had the same thought. When they came back from commercial, and Bruce was there, I told my wife, "it would be awesome if he hit a walk off right here on the first pitch".

I'm so happy the way this game ended, and the way they won the playoffs. I wanted it to be at home, and I wanted it to be because we won, and not because the Cardinals lost.

I DVRed two shows after the Reds game, to watch some of the celebration afterwards (because my wife and I were watching other shows, so I decided to DVR it) and it still didn't catch all of the celebration.

It's so awesome to be a Reds fan right now!

never left, but was on the Dusty hate train as well. Now I'm just on one train, I can no longer say anything bad about Dusty.

I'm definitely going to try and find some tickets, even if it's for just one game. No way I'm going to let this opportunity go by.

                        Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

What a season!! What a way to clinch the division!!

The team has made believers out of plenty of us (some were already believers in this thread and you know who you are). They really reeled me in around the All-Star Break. They continued to win, and then the August really sealed it.

I actually had a layover in Cincinnati the week of the All-Star Break. I've been a Reds fan for around 10 years now (I'm 20) having never had any ties to Cincinnati besides through video games. It was great being in the city (well, around it... we flew over GABP). I picked up a great T-Shirt that I'll wear pridefully this fall during the PLAYOFFS.

So proud of the team. And just check out that picture posted a few posts above. This is a TEAM. They're fighting for each other, picking up the slack when needed, doing what they have to do when they have to do it.

They may be overmatched by the Phils, but I'm not counting them out, against Philly or any other team. I think we have something special going with the Reds, guys. Maybe not this year, maybe not next year, but soon. This team is really built the right way, finally. Everyone is so proud to follow this team. All the time invested in them during their 14 years away from the postseason is being rewarded.

                        Go Reds!

One last thing: if we do draw the Phils, I'll try to get to a game at Citizens Bank Park. Not quite sure if I'll wear the Reds gear. I'm honestly frightened to go to any Philly arena with an opposing team's logo or colors. I've been to Flyers playoff games and it gets REAL bad to opposing teams. With the Phils being the hot team in Philly these days, which means any and every moron wants to go, I think I'll stay away.

I actually have a friend who's a Braves fan and he went to a game against Philly the other day. I said my final farewells beforehand, you know, just in case. But he came back unscathed and said they treated him fairly well. I was shocked.

No doubt this is a team picking up for eachother. Thats how it has been all season, if the starter isnt operating the bull pen will bail him out, and if the bats are sleepy the starter will go 7 or 8 solid.

This is a special season. Let us not forget that in 1990 everyone thought the Reds would fold quickly in the playoffs, and we all know how that ended.

Saw all of the game and the celebrations on FS Ohio. Made me wish I was back in Cincy for that after party. I tried to get on the e-mail list for playoff tickets, but I wasn't chosen.

Me and my buddy (both huge fans) are going to try to get tickets if we get to the World Series, no matter how much it costs!

Damn I'd have loved to been there last night!!
