Personally, I'd love to see Volquez and Wood. Volquez because if he can stay right, he's a no-hitter waiting to happen every time out, and a legitimate ace of this staff. and Wood because he's been nothing but solid since he came up. Bailey always worries me when he takes the hill because of his years of inconsistency in the past. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to throw a lefty out there to mix things up a bit.

I surly agree with the comments about Bailey. If he could just listen to his cathers and not get all stubborn trying to blow a fastball by someone in a key situation (see: Matt Holiday). The thing about our playoff pitching is that we need a hammer to drop on a team in games one and four. I love Wood & Leake but Walt may want to consider putting them, or someother young guys in a package over the off season in order to get a super ace.

Also I agree with the above sentiments in that I am also worried about how we'll show in playoff time, but can anyone say this was an unsucceful season even if we get swept in the first round? I think this team has already exceed expectation ten fold.

You'd give up two of your best potential pitchers? I don't mess with the pitching staff that we have right now. We have a VERY strong 1-5

      Arroyo
      Volquez
      Wood
      Leake
Chapman (Could "potentially" be that hammer)
      Cueto

I don't mess with that. Good pitching is hard to come by, and the teams that are doing well this year, are the teams with the solid pitching. It's been a LONG minute since we've seen a staff like this, prob since the Nasty Boys era.

I roll on with what we've got.

I couldnt disagree with you more, there is no way you trade any of your young pitchers for an ace. We have 3 potential aces on our team now in Cueto, Volquez and Chapman.
By the way I believe our playoff rotation will be:
        1. Arroyo
        2. Cueto
        3. Wood
ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.

You guys just have more faith in Volquez and Cueto than I do. Of course I hope they prove me wrong as hell but I'm not sure I see either of them turning into a Carpenter level pitcher. No doubt they've got the stuff to do it but I've got to see Volquez be more consistent in hitting the strike zone, and Cueto take fewer innings off. (Of course both of them have made big strides in those departments this season so you guys are probably right).

Either way if the front office thinks they need an ace I know Walt will make it happen in a way that improves the team, I have supreme confidence in that guy.

Also 502 yards will be echoing for a while...

            Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds

Daniel Hudson was a beast tonight for the D'Backs. Still, the Reds had a chance to win. I was disappointed with the at-bats by Rolen and Gomes in the 9th. Gutierrez was wild. They needed to show better patience up there. Oh well. Hudson is the best guy the D'Backs have so the Reds should take care of these next two games.

As much as I hate to say this, I'm really not all that convinced that this team can win a playoff series this year. I want to believe that and am thrilled that they are going to get the chance, barring a collapse of historic proportions, but I can't shake that feeling just because I haven't seen them take care of playoff-caliber teams over the last few of months. With the exception of the Rockies series right after the A-S Break and the Braves series at the end of July, they haven't won a series against a playoff-type team in a long while. That concerns me. Not trying to be a party-pooper but just being realistic. I want to see more. I want to see them win that series in San Diego the weekend of the 24th-26th.

So we've talked about playoff rotation, what about lineup?

              - 2B Phillips
              - SS Cabrera
              - 1B Votto
              - 3B Rolen
              - LF Gomes
              - C Hernandez
              - RF Bruce
              - CF Stubbs
              - P

Possible? Flip Bruce & Hernandez? Start Hanigan? Thoughts, Questions? Comments?

Edit: Might as well talk about strategy rather than weather or not they'll win...

Flip Bruce and Ramon. I think Hanigan and Ramon will split time. Both have done a fantastic job this year. Even though they both hit right-handed, it reminds me of the production the Reds have gotten from the catching duos of Joe Oliver-Jeff Reed in 1990 and Benito Santiago-Eddie Taubensee in 1995.

I think the line-up will be excellent, as good as any other in the playoffs. But playoff series seem to really go to teams that have a dominant ace pitcher. I don't see that guy on the Reds.

Yeah flip Bruce and Hernandez (which is pretty much what the line up when healthy has been for a while now) and yes BigMoneyClutch needs to be the starting catcher. It cracks me up to hear Dusty call him that.

By the way why hasnt Dusty been signed to a long term deal yet?? What are both sides waiting on?? Get it done already!
Also great catch by Bruce last night to end the game.
CoCo was shaky again but the fact still is he has one blown save in the last 64 days now, that is pretty damn good if you ask me.

No kidding on that catch, I was only able to see highlights but that was too sweet. Also talk about 'Lando getting it done! I think he's hitting over .500 since coming back.

He's in a major funk. Walked more this season as a whole, but lately, yeah, he's been slumping. Just needs to get the confidence back.

I might as well chalk up tonight's game as an L unless the Reds get to the 'Stros bullpen. Wandy Rodriguez, another good lefty who has always had the Reds' number, is pitching. They had bases loaded earlier with 1 out and didn't score. Yuck. Maybe they don't have this thing locked up yet.

I think Jonny Gomes saw this post, he crushed that pitch. It was a perfect pitch to hit though, hope reds can keep this lead.
