Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I hope that's the case.(Castro Story)
Trade is probably a really good one. But I was starting to really like Cashner.. alot. So this stinks for me.
Lahair has to wonder, what he has to do to get an opportunity. This stinks for him.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Trade Sori, start LaHair in left would be my lineup. Who knows, LaHair might beat him out.Comment

Wow, did NOT see that one coming.
EDIT: Just read the article. Seems like kind of a farce to me. Another case of a girl seeing an opportunity and wanting to take advantage of it. She voluntarily went to his apartment at like 2:00am? What was she expecting to happen at that time? Going to cuddle and read bedtime stories? Come on.“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Lahair Survived! He's going to start the season as the teams 1B. Rizzo will start season at Triple-A Iowa.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
We'll just have to see how Cashner can bounce back from the injury last year to fully evaluate this trade. But as of now, I like it. I don't expect us to rush Rizzo, giving LaHair a chance to prove himself. If we can get what we're asking for Garza, I don't think our farm system will look too bad.Comment

If we dump Soriano, might as well call us the Chicago Marlins lol
Bout to have like a 10 million dollar payroll.
I like what Theo is doing. What is ironic though, is the past couple years, our farm system actually started to produce some ML talent. Theo is only making it stronger.Comment

Brett Jackson
Starlin Castro
Anthony Rizzo
How's that for a 1,2,3 punch to lead off the game.(Of course this is depending on Castro staying out of Prison)Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
This could suck since I dropped 180 on an authentic Starlin Castro jersey back in May.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
i have spent a while trying to decide if i like the trade.
IN the end, the Cubs gave up a potential #1-2 starter who had proved himself to some degree.... for a 1b prospect.
Which of those is easier to come by?
I am uncomfortable with giving up pitching like that in general...and I am uncomfortable giving up a pitcher that has had some success in the majors for a hitter that hasn't.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I'm not uncomfortable giving up a fly ball pitcher, playing in a HR friendly park who has already had shoulder problems for a top tier prospect for a position we have no depth at.
I understand your point of not wanting to give up a proven commodity, but what has he really proven? In his first full season had an ERA near 5 then got hurt.
If anything, pitching is a position at the ML level and in our farm system we have the most depth at. It was a good deal, and could end up being a great deal if Rizzo pans out the way they think.Comment
