AAA is just for has beens, MLB rejects and people rehabbing.
AA is where the talent is at. If he continues to impress at that level like last season and improves upon it, then I can see him getting a shot with the big league club.
Lol don't feel like an idiot though, not that serious haha

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
True, it does depend on the organization, but AAA is mainly where old washed up players finish their career or the Minor League lifers are positioned at.
The reason young players get placed there is if the organization places them on the 40 man roster and feel they could be ready to make that jump to the major league level, making call ups easier and also making them available for the September 1st roster expansion.
You're going to find a majority of the real, raw talent at the AA level.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Love it.
I swear everything Theo does, I want to bow before it lol I just want something to believe in so bad, and he keeps giving me reason to, even when I know for a fact this team is going no where this year. I know that the future is going to be a lot different than we've seen in the past. I'm on board for the "Cubs Way"Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
My personal prediction:
70-78 wins
I think the Cubs pitching has improved a bit as they have acquired Concepcion. However the loss of Pena will both make the defense worse and increase the team batting average.
Pitching: improved, a possible closer in Corpas. Concepcion.
ROTATION:
Garza
Dempster
Wood
Volstad
Concepcion
Offense
Not much in the way of improvement with the loss of Ramirez and Pena. However the Cubs did get Stewart and DeJesus I hope they will have an immediate impact on the Cubs. However Soriano does need to improve or he will be reduced to a DH in interleague.
Prospects:
I think Jackson and Rizzo will get at the minimum a September call-up. They are great players who just need to show they are ready for the Majors.Check out my Baseball Rumors Blog http://baseballrumors101.blogspot.com/Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Dude Concepcion is Years... away He's only 19. Love What Theo is doing though.
Cubs go 6 SP deep. So If a SP gets hurt, the Cubs will be able to take it this year and just have someone step in. Lineup is not very good but if a couple guys have breakout years who knows.
I think we will challenge for .500 but I can already tell you it will be more entertaining than it was last year. at least it will be for me.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Yea, was going to say, Concepcion is no where close to being ready lol
And authentic, I should have specified my meaning of not going anywhere. I meant no where near playoff bound, but I think we might be able to challenge for .500.
I really think having Zambrano shipped off, lifted a black cloud of doubt over this team, that had been lingering for a while. I can really see this unit being really cohesive and maybe challlenging up at the top of the Central for the first half of the season. I just think our lack of offensive firepower will catch up with us, but I don't feel that our pitching will be a problem.
Alot of guys had down years last year, and I
fully expect most of them to bounce back. Especially Dempster.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Hopefully our guys, old and new, can bounce back and we get to .500 or better. I don't see us winning the division but we shouldn't be last place in it. The "Cubs Way" might take a year or so to go fully in effect, but I'm completely sold.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Sveum has said that the pitchers competing for the last two spots in the rotation are T. Wood, Volstad, Wells, Samardzija, Coleman and Sonnanstine. So that means Garza, Dempster and Maholm are locks for the rotation, which isn't surprising at all. I'd expect for most of those guys to get starts at some point even if they don't crack the starting five at the beginning of the year.Comment
