Wow I had a big mental lapse there. Oh well, it happens to the best of us. I feel like an idiot now lol.

We gave up Colvin/LeMahieu for Stewart/Weathers so my argument about giving up Cashner is now unjustified. But Hoyer has said some good things about Stewart and I like the fact that he brings a left handed bat to the lineup. He's not a defensive liability at the hot corner either. Maybe one day Vitters will be our starter I just don't know how soon it will be, he'll have to produce at AAA.

AAA is just for has beens, MLB rejects and people rehabbing.

AA is where the talent is at. If he continues to impress at that level like last season and improves upon it, then I can see him getting a shot with the big league club.

Lol don't feel like an idiot though, not that serious haha

Boston or SD can have Soriano and his contract.

Reading that the Cubs have withdrawn any interest that they had shown in Cespedes, and are aggressively pursuing Jorge Soler. A 19 OF prospect who is also from Cuba.

I tried to locate a scouting report, but there is basically no information on this guy other than one or two pictures.

Quick first thought, if this kid does pan out, where would he fit? We have some young OF prospects already that look like they could be playing in the near future. However, supposedly this kid has big power and would be a big left handed bat if he panned out the way scouts think he will.

He would come at probably a third of the cost of Cespedes and seems that their would be a lot less risk involved in acquiring him. I'm all for bolstering our farm system, but just don't want the Cubs to over commit.

He would fit for RF. Many people actually like him more Long Term than Cespedes. He's only 19. How good he is, Umm I dunno but it would be like Picking in the Top 5 Of a draft. He would be a single digit pick in a Draft. I dunno if that helps at all.

Haha, I had it in my head we gave up Cashner for Stewart, but I am really excited for who we really got in return for Cashner. I think Rizzo will be quite the stud.

Yes, yes and yes. Lol, couldn't agree more.

And on Soler, I've been trying to dig some stuff up on him for a while now. Honestly, not getting Cespedes wouldn't bother me too much even though he isn't getting the money people predicted him to get. Soler is going to be considerably cheaper, so I'm all for that too. Hopefully we get him and it's a low risk/high reward type scenario. I'm not too sure if he played with Conception, but if they know eachother that could help us out a lot. From what I'm reading we're going hard for Soler

EDIT: Wow, the A's signed Cespedes for 4 years and 36 million

Word is Soler has agreed to a Contact. He's not officially a FA so I'm guessing they just agreed on Years/and How Much. Here is a link: Soler to Cubs

Regardless, Soler, Jackson, Szczur is a pretty good young OF even if you think Jackson and Szczur is a little overrated, future is bright in that area.

I would be willing to bet that one of the two prospects we picked up (Concepcion, Soler) will have a better career than Cespedes. I think that Cespedes will be a good player and would have been worth the risk, but the more I hear about this Soler kid, the more I think he could end up being a monster. He's definitely more intimidating size wise, standing 5 inches taller and already weighing over 200lbs at 19 years old.

But like you said BB, the future is looking bright in the OF.

LOL...well I thought it was very interesting that all parties on the Cubs side denied the report, but "Cell" employees claimed they were informed it's true.

Here is the exact quote - "Workers at U.S. Cellular tell a different story. They say they are being warned of a much busier 2013 season (as in, prepare for double the games). Bridgeport bar owners tell a similar story.

I know I should be against it, but the idea of finally being able to drive to a Cubs home game intrigues me.

Yea which worries me, because the employees at the Cell would have no reason to deny such allegations and the Cubs brass would have every reason to do so.

Ron is going to be rolling in his grave.
