This is the most important part imo, Mendy's got to get reps in the outfield and consistent at-bats if he's going to develop. Can't waste him on the bench at Wrigley.

So excited to watch this team the rest of the year.. Just wait until Lester hits a stride.

      Confirmed on Cubs.com

As for Soler, he's hit safely in last 7, and 9 of last 10.
Also, K'd more than once in 5 of his last 7.

he's praised for patience and coverage, but he's only walked 3 times, and has k'd 16 already.

I'm certainly not down on the guy...not at all...it's just kinda all over the place.

Edit: Dang...in the time it took me to type this up, over a dozen posts were made lol

This would be a problem if he was batting sub .250. But he's batting .320 and he's seeing a lot of pitches.

I think some of those strikeouts are also him just being super aggressive, which is fine because he has the protection to do so and part of the reason he is in the two hole to begin with.

I don't see it being an issue and I'm sure that rate will drop as we move forward into the season and the guys behind him continue to get better.

Been a Redsox fan since 2011 but have been watching a lot of (well all) the cubs games this season since moving right outside of Illinois. Is it a good time to become a Cubs fan? really liking what I've seen from this team so far and the rookies seem sensational plus i'm a big Jon Lester fan. His cancer recovery was really something in his time with Boston.

I'm not crazy about it right now, but I'm not about to start questioning Joe. lol

****ing Brian Schlitter.. I swear this guy has something on Maddon/Theo. There is no reason for him to be pitching important innings.

Schlitter should be gone by tomorrow night. I'll be very surprised if he's still on the roster by Friday.

You DO NOT want to fw the Cubs 2 thru 5...

and the catcher spot is getting production.

Schlitter is a better pitcher than I am.

Cincy's gotta feel that window closing, Milwaukee already heard it shut...

Pittsburgh? Who else in the NL would I rather see win a WS? it's a shame they just got things turned around...right place, wrong time.

How much does StL have left? About time for them to step aside.

                        Win this division.

This wagon is already getting crowded.

This guy...lol. Just DYING to be a smartass.

You must've missed it when Castro even said it himself that he doesn't want to "be a joke anymore".

Yes, he's been great lately. I've acknowledged that. He doesn't have the range Russell does, but if he continues to hit like this, he should definitely stay.

Let's see it for most of the year. Not just in spurts like previous years.

No, its just funny when you overreact about, well everything, and end up being wrong like 99.9% of the time lol

He made that comment in reference to the media who has a skewed perception of him as a fielder because they need to write about something when the Cubs weren't playing well. Been that way for 3-4 years now.

"He doesn't have the range Russell does"

Lol at this. Serious question, what are you even basing this comment off of? Because again, wrong. Castro sported a range rating of a near 1 point higher than Russell in their respective minor league careers and has been near the top of the NL in range factor multiple times and is near 5 this season, again.

But I know how he's playing doesn't fit your anti-Castro agenda so you have to make stuff up. *shrugs*

It is what it is. Russell will be a great player I'm sure but he's got a ways to go.

Crazy that a guy has the potential to join guys like Cobb, Ott, Yount, Cabrera and Kaline in having 1000 hits at age 25 and can't be appreciated. Sad what a little media brainwashing can do.

I'm wrong 99.9% of the time?? Yeah, okay. I guess Castro acknowledging he hasn't lived up to his expectations defensively, is me being "wrong".

Tired of your strawman arguments and how you constantly like to manipulate discussions, as if you know what you're talking about and have EVERYTHING figured out. It's like you're so desperate to be right, you'll pull anything out of your *** to prove your internet 'cred'.

But go ahead and question me how far I've played baseball again, and how about you dodge me for a 3rd time. Funny how you get REAL quiet when I've called out you out TWICE to challenge me to any competition of your choice. Yeah, all of a sudden, you don't have any answers and your mouth/fingers go numb.
