Not sure how any Reds fan can't be super pumped about Billy Hamilton after reading this Jerry Crasnick article.

I was at the game last night, and that was pitiful. They had so many chances to score it was not even funny. Latos pitched a good game, and the defense definitely helped him out there.

Don't look now, but the lead is 7 games. If the past 5 seasons has told us anything, though, it's that these type of leads at this point in the season are razor thin. We drop a few, they win a few and bam! They're back within striking distance.

I say we just continue to win and not worry about scoreboard watching.

I'm not as much worried about the Pirates anymore. Now we need to watch out for the Cards.

I believe i predicted that a few weeks ago!

And Billy Hamilton is not ready to help the Reds this year.
Do you really want to waste a spot on the playoff roster for a pinch runner??
Who would you leave off the playoff roster if you bring him up?
            Heisy? No way.

That's a good point and really there isn't a good answer. Right now they have seven relievers so maybe one of them because I'm not sure how much of a role Simon or LeCure would have in the post season barring a long extra inning affair but, again, you never know.

You don't think Hamilton could be an asset at all as a pinch runner? I'm not saying he should bat or play the field.

No I really dont. They may use him once or twice late in a game in the playoffs.
Your not going to pinch run for any of your starters early in a playoff game. Maybe he pinch runs for the catcher late in a game?? Not sure i would pinch run him for anyone else in a playoff game. You dont want to pinch run for Votto or any of your other important starters and lose them for the rest of the game if it would go into extra innings.
And i think Simon could have a role in the playoffs, he has pitched great this year and Dusty is a lot more confident in him now.
No way you carry one less reliever in the playoffs for a pinch runner. That just doesnt make good baseball sense.

I wouldn't mind Cairo or Valdez being replaced as bench players/pinch hitter. Hamilton could potentially bunt his way on better than those two hit.

Hamilton is awesome, but we won't see him dawn the wishbone "C" until next season.

One of those two may get released when votto comes back. They honestly should just release Cairo.

I absolutely love this Reds team!
I really cannot believe how well they have played without Votto.
Matt Latos has been amazing lately that trade is looking really good right now!
The kid is only 24 years old too, great trade by Walt.

The Reds need to tighten up the defense, it's been very sloppy as of late.

I was at the ball park yesterday and have to say that was the lowest drama walk off win I've ever seen... Obviously I mean that in a good way!

Here is a good summary from Lance Mcalister:

Here is what you need to know about this team
Ryan Hanigan delivered a game winning sacrifice fly Sunday to beat the Cubs 5-4.
Hanigan threw out the go-ahead runner, trying to steal 3B, in the top of the 9th.
Just 90-seconds after the game Hanigan was interviewed on the field by Jeff Piecoro of FS Ohio. The first thing Hanigan said was that Mat Latos was the "story of the game".
During the interview, Logan Ondrusek gave Hanigan the ball from his first career game winning hit.
Mat Latos pitched 8 innings and allowed just 2 earned runs. He was a victim of 3 errors behind him and got a no decision. Did he pout? No. He snuck up behind Hangian during the interview and got him with shaving cream in the game.
                              That is a TEAM.
