    Re: 2013 Atlanta Braves Thread

    Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Told Delgado not biggest piece going from #Braves to #Diamondbacks for Upton. Also told Teheran not in deal.

    Okay that's...now I'm getting nervous.

    edit:
@BillShanks: Prado, Delgado, Ahmed and Spruill for Upton and Johnson is what I have heard.
    WHAT?

I really hope Prado isn't part of any deal.

I'm excited about the trade overall though. I'm gonna miss Prado because he is such a good baseball player. Juan Francisco is going to be a key guy this year.

I'm pissed if Prado was traded. I know they are seeing Francisco destroy the winter league and count on him playing third, but Martin Prado is one of my all time favorite Braves. Seriously, will not be happy if he's traded.

What's the lineup going to be? Here's pretty balanced possibility once McCann returns. But I expect BJ Upton to start the season lead-off. Imagine if Uggla was still good...

              SS Simmons (righty)
              RF Heyward (left)
              LF J Upton (righty)
              1B Freeman (lefty)
              CF BJ Upton (righty)
              C McCann (lefty)
              2B Uggla (righty)
              3B Francisco/Johnson (platoon)

Now if we can just get Kate Upton.

LOL, just heard on MLB Network what ATL's outfield is called:

Prado was traded because he didn't sign a deal. He wanted $11-13 million and the Braves don't think he is worth that much.

I'm not really happy, but I guess it may work out or the future. Problem is that Prado had so much value being able to play anywhere.

Yup, he did bring so much value with his versatility. I'll miss him, but at the same time it's the right move as it really sets our outfield up for several years. All 3 are under team control for a while and are either in their prime or yet to come into it.

I am trying to think of a comparable OF that the Braves have had, but I can't. This is certainly the best offensive outfield we've had since Chipper, Andruw, and Sheff were out there and far and away the best defensive outfield we've had. Should be a lot of fun to watch.

Braves keep Teheran, Simmons, Bethancourt and Graham ... wow.

Still a surplus of pitching, 3B is arguably the risk but look at that lineup!!

Anyone else feeling career years out of both Uptons? I do ...

Definitely better than the 2010 OF of non-juiced Melky, McLouth, and rookie Heyward. It's come a long way.

                            Two things:

                            1) I really like how YOUNG this makes our team, but extremely talented. We have set ourselves up to compete for a long time.

                            2) On MLBN they called the Brave's fanbase 'fickle'...I just don't get it at all. Every fan base has their 'fickle' fans, but the hardcore Braves fan base is as good as any I know.

It is very true with fans in Atlanta. Then add that they lost access to a lot of their fans when TBS stopped showing games. A lot of fans only go to 1-2 games a year, but it isn't because of the lack of tickets.

Its really all Atlanta teams, not just the Braves. Too many northern people in the city.

Now that Delgado is gone, I guess it's pretty certain Teheran will be in the starting rotation to start 2013 with Beachy out until around the All-Star Break?
