Nice to see BJ finally do something other than strikeout. Funny how a weak infield single can get you going. Hope this is the start of something for him.

I thought Julio pitched well tonight despite the runs. Heyward dropped a ball in the first he probably should have caught which eventually resulted in a run and extra pitches for Teheran. Then in the 5th the ump missed a called strike three to Barney who eventually makes it on with a swinging bunt and the fireworks go from there.

Freeman to the DL with a oblique injury. and he's not happy about it.

      David O'Brien @ajcbraves
#Braves Freeman not happy club made decision to put him on DL before talking with him. Still steaming in clubhouse.

Not looking like a good one today. 14 batters, 10 k's through 4. How is an entire major league lineup incapable of just making contact with a 95-97 mph fastball?

Which is why I'd rather have a contact hitting team. Sure this team is going to hit a lot of HRs, but what happens when they don't hit any HRs? I'd be fine with all the guys hitting 10-15 HRs a piece and hitting .280-.300.

Its great hitting a lot of HRs, but you only need to win by 1 run and during those droughts, its really hard to win games. If they just make contact, anything can happen.

Look at how they just tied the game, Pena gets a double, Hudson walks, and 2 wild pitches gets Pena home.

Back it up with a good splitter, and I can understand why.

I prefer contact hitting teams too, but I would definitely take this year's lineup over a more contact oriented one last year with Chipper and Prado. Kind of the good news about all of those strikeouts was that it ran Samardjzia's pitch count up early.

Good pitching beats good hitting that is true, but this is one of the more talented lineups in all of the majors and they just looked lost. Days like this will happen it's just frustrating to see so many swings and misses.

Look, I'd love to have a team that didn't strike out...but if I'm going to have a team that strikes out a lot give me one that can mash AND has speed. This line up is really versatile and IMO not one dimensional once guys get on.

The strikeouts don't worry me as long as the team doesn't go into a team wide slump...a few guys (like BJ for example) in a slump is fine if others are hitting. What is going to be hard to watch is when NO ONE is hitting.

I hate myself for leaving the game early last night. I had no hope when the bases were loaded in the 8th.

Too many K's or not, this first week beats the pants off last year's first week (0-4 bumbling start). This team has exceeded my expectations in fun factor and they aren't even going on all cylinders IMO.

You deserve it for leaving a baseball game early. SMH.

Heyward out of the lineup today...

Hope he can refocus a little.

And he followed it up the following night with another blast. And how bout Gattis? He's a beast it looks like.

McCann is my favorite current Brave. But if Gattis keeps this up, and knowing that they'll likely let Mac walk after this season, do you entertain shopping Mac at the deadline?

I guess you sort of have to at least entertain it. Not sure Gattis' production is sustainable though. Gonna need a bit to convince me.
