Well damn if that wasn't exciting as hell. Wish the crowd would ALWAYS be that energetic.

Ya...watch a half filled ball yard on Wednesday.

I will say that watching this lineup I can't remember a more potent line up for the Braves since maybe 1996-1998...and even then, I think this one is better. If everyone stays healthy it will/should be a fun year.

I will say Huddy just running out of gas worries me...he wasn't sharp in the Spring and he completely lost his location in the 5th. I'll feel better if Maholm and Medlen give us good starts.

I am a bit worried about Huddy too but then again, it could just have been one of those days. Coupled with him being older anyway and it being early in the year and it may not be much concern. If it continues, obviously that's an issue.

At least he didn't get shelled. Not a good start but not an ***-kicking.

Came home a little while ago from Turner and man what a game BUT what a crowd! They were pumped and ALL over the Uptons in the outfield, mad love! I sense something very special and I don't think I was the only one. Heyward chants, upton chants, freeman chants I mean it was insane. I see a very interesting season ahead of us!

Huddy is going to get hit. It's just a fact. He's always been a ground ball pitcher and he's obviously in the latter stages of his career. I can see how only going 5 is troubling to some, but I think it's a "Keep Calm and Carry On" situation.

The good news is, well, he's Tim ****ing Hudson and he's been around the block and can do some damage control.

I'm okay with admitting when Huddy gets the bump we're going to use our longer relief guys.

The 11 pitch at bat to Revere killed him. He gets Revere in that at bat, he goes 6 innings, gives up 1 run. I give a lot of Credit to Ben there.

Venters now out another month. I've always liked him, but I think he may be the third-best lefty in the pen when/if he comes back.

Unfortunately I except the typical 20-30K for Wednesday's game.

As for Huddy he's had many games the last 2 or 3 years where he gets to the 5th or 6th inning and he's just exhausted. Comes with the territory of being an older pitcher.

I had great seats last night, and I lost my voice when Freeman hit the homerun in the first inning. I lost it when Upton hit the monster shot also.

The fact that Huddy threw 90 pitches and ran out of gas shouldn't really worry anyone! I mean look at JVer, opening day throws 91 pitches and gets pulled after 5! It's not something to worry over, it's the first game of the season, obviously you're not going to let your pitcher throw 120 pitches on opening day! Not sure where the worry is coming from but either way, great win, this season should be a very exciting one indeed!

I would've pulled Huddy before facing Utley though.

Because this isn't the first time it's happened with Huddy the last 2 or 3 years. It's happening more and more.

I don't blame Fredi for letting Huddy face Utley. Sure Utley had just hit a homerun but with Huddy being a groundball guy he was 1 pitch away from getting a groundball double play to get out of the inning and qualifying for the win.

Yet he still put up solid numbers last year! Every pitcher is going to get gassed early every once in awhile! Plus the guy is getting older, it's not really that big of an issue in my eyes! It's obviously not a great thing, but as long as he keeps putting up solid numbers like he has the last few years, I don't think it's anything to worry about! Huddy's going to turn 38 this season, he's got a lot of innings on him, just time to accept that he might not be able to throw 120 pitches every game and go into the 8th!

Last year, he was only .1 innings per start and two pitches per start below his 8-year average since coming to the NL. The pitch to Utley was his 25th pitch of the inning. Of course he was gassed at that point, especially in the opener.
