Huddy's going to turn 38 this season, he's got a lot of innings on him, just time to accept that he might not be able to throw 120 pitches every game and go into the 8th!
I don't expect him to throw 120 pitches every game. But it is a concern when he struggles to make it through 5 innings like has been happening more the last 2 or 3 years. I understand he is older now. Sure the numbers didn't show it but he was extremely lucky last year. He could have easily had a 4 ERA.

Gattis is such a great story.

A guy who turned to alcohol and marijuana because he was afraid at failing at Texas A&M after turning down a scholarship to Rice. After rehab, he went to a community college in Oklahoma, hurt his knee, got tired of baseball and left. He then spent some time in Colorado with his sister before moving to Dallas to work as a janitor with his brother. He then met and followed a spiritual advisor to New Mexico, before moving on to Wyoming to work at Yellowstone and through California searching for his calling. He returned to college in 2010 and got drafted by the Braves in the 23rd round, and now he's on the Braves' roster.

His homerun tonight was caught by a kid wearing a Texas A&M cap.

Strikeouts aren't a problem like most fans were worried about. I would rather have a strikeout than a double play.

Exactly the same thing I kept saying. Also the Braves struckout only 8 times on Monday. That's not bad. If they average under 10 strikeouts a game it will be absolutely no concern. Heck it's no concern right now. Seems the only people that play the strikeout card are people that want the Braves to fail.

Lol. 10 a game would shatter the record (8.6/gm). We'll see. No team has won a World Series striking out a ton. I'd like to think this team could overcome that, but we'll have to see.

Last year the Braves struck out 7.95 times a game. So roughly 2 more strikeouts a game in trade for a whole lot more homeruns is perfectly fine with me. I don't get fed up with strikeouts like some people do. And the Nationals didn't win the World Series last year but they struck out more than the Braves did. The A's had the most strikeouts in baseball last year and made the playoffs. 4 of the top 7 teams in strikeouts last year made the playoffs. Then anything can happen in the playoffs.

Except a team with that many strikeouts winning in the playoffs. The A's and Nationals both got bounced in the divisional round (averaging about 10 k's a game in the playoffs between them). Over the last 13 seasons, World Series participants have averaged 6.45 k's per game (6.31 for winners). The most k's a game for a league champ since 2000 is 7.6 by Tampa in 08, and 7.3 by Boston in 04 for a World Champ. Only one NL champ has had over 7 k's per game.

I'm not saying this team can't win. I actually think they can. But not if they're striking out 10 times a game.

Pretty much as DonkeyJote has said. I'm excited as anyone to see what this team can do this year, but strikeouts are a very serious concern. Obviously a strikeout is better than a double play, but those aren't exactly the options either. You need to be able to get productive outs, especially in the playoffs against top pitching, which is just hard to do when your team is going to strike out that much.

Cliff Lee is one of the best pitches in baseball for a reason folks. He knows what he's doing. Can't win em all. The Braves weren't gonna go 162-0. They won the series and that's all they needed to do. Win series as Bobby said all those years. You win 2 outta every 3 games and you'll be sitting pretty at the end of the season with a 108-54 record.

The wind was right up there with Lee for being player of the game haha. The wind saved so many runs for both teams. As Joe Simpson said, a lot of balls would've left the yard tonight if the weather was like it was on Monday.

Yeah that wind was brutal. Howard would have had 2 and Freeman would have had 1. There were a couple more too.
