Would you guys roll the dice on a minor league deal for Carlos Marmol? Given our need for bullpen arms, I would love to send him to Gwinnett for a month to see what happens with different coaching.

I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea. It's not like he's expected to come in and close from the day one.

If he'd sign a minor league deal, I think any team with good pitching coaches would be smart to make an offer. Couldn't hurt, at the very least.

No to Marmol. Recipe for disaster. Or if you bring him in, give him the shortest leash of all-time.

Our team is way too shaky as is.

Frankly, I'm really pissed that we haven't padded the lead while we can. Washington and/or Philly are gonna come on strong, no doubt in my mind.

The Braves still have 16 games left against the Marlins, they'll be fine.

Absolutely. Dude has never really been great as a closer, but he was always pretty good as a setup man. I'd give him a shot on a minor league deal.

I don't think this team needs arms as much as it seems, however. Kimbrel is still dominant. Avilan seems to be the real deal. Carpenter has only given up runs in 2 games. If you take out Walden's last three outings immediately before going on the DL, he has a 0.90 ERA with a .75 WHIP. Wood has been great. And Vavaro and Gearrin have both had good seasons that would look better if not marred by recent bad outings.

Exactly. Ayala will be back soon too and he is a nice veteran arm to have. Is Martinez out all season or what?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jamie up sometime in Septembet either. Hes practically a Marmol clone.

I am less concerned about the pitching and much more so with the offense. I think our pen is fine and the starting pitching has been great. Don't forget Beachy will be back soon and someone else moves to the middle relief.

I'm with Matrix...I'm pissed we haven't pushed the lead to double digits because I fully expect a Philly/Washington charge at some point.

I don't think there is a move to help the offense on the trade market unless one of our regulars go down with injury.

I really don't think we need/want us to make a trade...I'm am trusting that Uggla, McCann, Heyward, and the Uptons don't hit like pitchers the entire year.

I think this is your team and you ride it out...Gattis coming back soon should help to.

There's no doubt in my mind that Washington is going to get it going. Would like to get as much of a gap between them as we can before that happens.

I'm not so sure. They have the second worst offense in the league. Last year was a mirage. Just a ton of guys having career years. And their pen still isn't great.

I have no faith in what "should be" unfortunately.

I think what is, is. We have a wildly inconsistent team that we're going to roll with. It might work, it might not. We'll just have to see.

There are some inconsistent individuals, but the team as a whole hasn't really been. They've only lost 4 in a row twice, and they haven't lost 5 in a row all year. And they're 45-33.
