Saw the ASG voting was released...who are the 400K+ people who voted for BJ? Really?

I think he's finally got it figured out. It's great seeing him showing that potential we've been waiting for.

Brings me back to my long post a few days ago. Medlen or Maholm to the pen if Beachy doesn't go? I personally want Beachy there like Medlen was used last season. Would Medlen be disrespected by being put in the pen? I don't believe Maholm would make a good reliever.

I don't want Medlen back in the bullpen.

I don't want Beachy in the bullpen either.

It has to be figured out. Maybe we have to trade Maholm or something? I don't know.

I guess for now I'd lean toward easing Beachy back by having in the pen. I don't really like him there, but there's not a great option to send back there. Medlen is the only other one that makes sense.

Could go with a six-man rotation for a while too.

I don't mind Beachy being in the pen for a month or so when he comes back. That way we have a better idea who to keep there for the rest of the season or go to a six man rotation from that point if Maholm, Minor, Medlen, and Teheran don't get injured or beat up badly.

What do ya'll think are the chances of Evan Gattis getting Rookie of the Year or getting in the Home Run Derby

                        Re: 2013 Atlanta Braves Thread

What's the argument against Beachy in the pen in short term? I mean, you guys aren't expecting Brandon Beachy of 2.00 era and 6 innings per start just a year after Tommy John, are you? I'd rather have Maholm go out there and give me 6 innings a night with a 3.68 era than have Beachy go out there and give me 5 a night at probably around the same ERA. The only guy in this rotation that Beachy is going to be better than out the gate is maybe the struggling Hudson, but I don't think that anyone is going to suggest sending him to the pen. And I don't think they should do a six man rotation. It throws off everyone's routine, and hurts your staff as a whole. I see the argument for it, but I think the cons outweigh the pros.

They should handle Beachy like they handled Medlen last year. I'd keep him in the pen until August, and then go from there. He's going to be on an innings limit; I'd imagine probably around 100 innings. So if you are going to throw him in there now (or more accurately, June 18th), you're probably only going to be able to get 5 1/3 or so per start from him. I'd rather wait, and be able to turn him loose for the stretch run, unless there is an injury, in which case, I'd throw him the rotation sooner.

I'm convinced, mainly because I know that sooner or later, one or more of our starters are going to get hurt. It's the Atlanta way, of course.

As for Gattis, I think he would be awesome in the Derby but I don't know about Rookie of the Year. I think if Shelby Miller keeps going, he's gonna be the lock.

Only because Shelby is still in the rotation, and Gattis is relegated to a bench/rotational role. If Gattis was playing everyday, it'd be pretty much a toss up, I think.

So this is a thing: https://twitter.com/GattisFacts

                              My favorites:

Evan Gattis once ran a marathon backwards just to see what second place looked like.

Evan Gattis can tweet more than 140 characters.

Evan Gattis only works out once a year............. That's all the gym equipment can take.

When life gives Evan Gattis lemons, he makes Orange juice.

Evan Gattis once took a lie detector test.........the machine confessed everything.

                                Also, my favorites:
When Evan Gattis turns on SportsCenter during the middle of baseball season, he DOESN'T have to watch NFL coverage
Evan Gattis once made a Happy Meal cry
Evan Gattis doesn't flush the toilet. He scares the crap out of it
If there were a monument opened in his honor, Mount Rushmore would close due to poor attendance
