Isn't that always the way? Team strength crumbles to team weakness within 6 weeks.

    *sigh*

At what point do we call BJ a major, major mistake?

The team doesn't have a lead off hitter and Bourne is doing great things for the Tribe on a contract that's far more realistic than the 5 yrs we gave to Justin's brother. And speaking of which, if his contract was even moveable, could you trade him with superstar baby bro on the roster?

I'm gonna give him the year and see if he can be at least .250. Maybe things week get better once he gets more looks at the NL pitchers. But Schaffer has been pretty good this year, it's tempting to see him more. More outfield time for Gattis is always good too, although yesterday was an adventure out there, but the wind was the main problem there.

I didn't realize Freddie Freeman's parents were Canadian and that he wants to play for Canada at the next WBC to honor his late mother. I read an article about it today and thought that was a neat fact I didn't know. I follow the Braves along with the Jays with my bro and just thought it was cool he would want to honor his mom that way. Good player too

Juan Francisco has been DFA'd for Alex Wood to join the pen. Think anyone will claim him?

The strikeouts will turn people off but based on sheer power I think someone will.

Honestly, I don't understand the move. He is a free swinger who just doesn't walk, but he's 26 with big time power and can hit anyone's fastball. I like his bat off the bench and in there every few days at 3B. Why they DFA him is beyond me...

Especially since we've got about 19 OFs on the roster. I can kind of see keeping Laird around, but I would have thought Reed Johnson would be more expendable than Francisco.

In theory, Justin, B.J. and Heyward should be out there every day. Schafer has shown his worth as a fourth OF/fill-in until B.J. wakes up. Gattis can play the corner OF and is clearly a better RH option off the bench; Francisco can play corner OF too in a pinch. I just don't really see where Reed fits in.

The way I see things is Laird and Reed are those veteran guys on the bench. The team is better with them there. Schafer and Pena have played better than BJ and Uggla, and they are out of options so that means they're staying put. We all knew El Oso Blanco was not going back down. Francisco was the only expendable guy because Johnson is raking, and Pena is usually brought in for defense there late in games anyway.

He was sent down because he sucks. I don't care if you can hit the ball 500ft, he is just like Uggla but worse because he doesn't walk. Stop trying to hit the ball 500ft every swing. How about hitting it 300ft in the gap or just putting the ball in play. Power is nothing if you don't make contact.
