    Crud.

I say shelf him until next year; make sure he's completely healed up.

Sucks about Freeman, but honestly if he's going to have an injury riddled year this is the one to do it. We need him to be healthy from here on out...

On another note I was reading an article about farm system rankings and they have the Braves just outside the top 5, but it said that while we don't have the big, impact type prospect like Seager, our system has the best depth of any system.

Since Hart took over the system has gone from the 25-30 range to the 3-6 range...and the article felt he was deserving of Executive of the Year votes.

Man, it's hard having a team suck this bad. In all those years that we were good and we'd play teams like this I'd be so glad my team wasn't this bad...the nightmare is a reality.

I still say Fredi should be gone.

Give TP a shot...seriously; even Bo Porter.

No desire at all to see TP as manager. I don't see any reason to believe he'd be remotely successful. As far as Porter, he's done well with what he has, but if you make him manager, he can no longer be the hitting coach. I'd rather keep Fredi.

Porter is the 3B coach...Kevin Seitzer is the hitting coach.

Why do you say that, DJ?

He certainly carried the team in 91-92, as a veteran presence; they ousted him as a hitting coach but the stats show he was much better than they gave him credit for.

Good player doesn't make a good coach. While I don't think TP was as bad as a hitting coach as he was made out to be, that article was misleading. Small sample size. It ignores the fact that Andruw's decline happened while in Atlanta; his years post TP were better than that last year with him. Giles only played 116 games after leaving. Sheffield's post Atlanta seasons were 35 and up; obviously there will be decline. He's also been here for 13 seasons; he'd be more of the same.

                      My thoughts about TP exactly.

He is finally gone, Braves trade CJ to Indians for $28 million in 2016 plus the Braves get $10 million in cash.

2 players that will be cut or backups only have $28 million in 2016 (option for 2017 only if they have 550 plate appearances) - $10 million - $19 million in CJ salary = Braves +$1 million plus rid of CJ and traded players in 2016

Even trade that lets us get rid of these bad contracts by 2017. I like it from both ends.

Hart, yet again, having to clean up Wren's mess.

We're taking on an additional $11.5M in salary next year to save $9M in 2017, essentially.

Interesting than it most other jobs, if you cost the company $2.5MM you are fired immediately. Sports are such anomalies.

I do think Bourn can make a contribution...I mean, it was only 3 years ago he posted a fWAR of 6.2 and he's only 32. Put him in LF and the leadoff spot and tell him to put the ball in play (20+ K% is way too high for him).

Bourn's numbers have been consistently bad since leaving though. .316, .314, .313 obp since going to Cleveland. I have no hope of production from him (and of he gets 550 pa next year, his option vests). I remember when he was a free agent, most people in here were apprehensive about re-signing him, as the feeling was that he wouldn't age well, and he hasn't. I have slightly more hope for Swisher actually, just because his down numbers can be attributed to injury somewhat. If he can get healthy, he can probably still hit 20 hr, and has great patience up there. It's a longshot, but I think he has a slightly better chance of turning it around.
