Byrd is gone to SF. We get minor league P Stephen Johnson in return.

So that's Cueto, Byrd, and Leake gone. Wish we could've gotten rid of Bruce as well. But overall, for a team that was going nowhere all year, not a bad semi-firesale. I guess you can't trade them all like you can in a video game!

I need to stay off the Reds facebook page....you wouldn't believe some of the stuff that is posted on there. It makes HustlinOwl seem like a sane person (we still love you though).

I'm just glad that Jocketty is focusing on trading for pitching. We only have 2500 of them (2495 are RHP) and you can never have enough. I only hope that some of them can hit too since that is what they will have to do so we can field a team in the near future.

We can always move them. For instance Lorenzon is a better option in LF or CF then the rest of the team.

Is what it is when we were all crying for players to be traded so we could build up a good roster over the next few years.

I'd much rather be 20 games under .500 with this roster then with Cueto, Leake, and Byrd contributing for a 10 win jump in the standings. Sharing the couch this October either way, at least now there's a light at the end of the tunnel... hopefully.

Buckle up guys. It ain't gonna get much better next year or the year after, probably.

I have found the silver lining to this season:

A real chance to get the #1 overall pick in the draft (Reds have never had that before). Granted, 98% chance if we do it will be a RHP, but whatever. Trade piece or future #1 starter hopefully.

Whoa, what an inning last night.

Nice to halt the skid. We can be bad, but almost 2 weeks of straight losses will make anyone go crazy.

Lol Price goodbye and good riddance

“I like being able to protect 40 players,” Price said. “I would not want to manage a team with 40 players or against a team with 40 players.

“The thing I don’t like about it is everyone competes for six months. For five months, you compete under the same guidelines, which takes a ton of research and preparation. Now, you go from 25 to 40, 36, 38 or whatever. It’s not impossible, but it’s highly unlikely that you can be prepared for every situation that comes up.

“I don’t like it. I don’t like being able to pinch-run every inning you need a pinch-runner and having a limitless supply of pitchers and pinch-hitters.”

The Reds are atrocious but Joey Votto is unreal. Crazy how good of a season he is having, especially in the second half.

He's getting on base at a .571 clip since the ASG. That's Barry Bonds territory. So glad he's returned to the incredible batter he was.

Did you guys hear his comments in a post game interview? Found it on Facebook after the MIL comeback win past week. Basically said to the fans that this season sucks, that it hurts losing like we have and the fans deserve better.

Usually don't hear players talk in anything but cliches so his candor really struck a cord with me. It's good to know losing is hurting at least some of the guys as it is the fans, though I know a rebuild is a process and we have to be somewhat patient as long as there's a plan in place for a return. Just felt good to hear it from the guys who put on the uniform and represent us and, although I don't live there, the city.

Votto is the man. By far my favorite player in the league and on the team and probably of all time. Guys like this are a generational talent and to combine it with being a generally great dude off the field and a real ballplayer, takes you to legend status. I just hope when it's all said and done, there can be some W's to point to to say that he wasn't just a stat collector but really lifted the team to new heights as far as team accomplishments go, though I'll understand if that doesn't happen.

So we're in the final month of what's been a predictably bad season. Wanna see some of the guys we'll be watching this September, see if we can't strike gold with some players and start preparing for 2016 & 2017 now. Next couple years are gonna be tough but hopefully the farm can produce and bring us back.

Iglesias... the real deal or flash in the pan?

We are so loaded with pitching prospects it's insane. I guess quantity and quality is great, though some of these guys are ticketed for other teams' hitters, I'm sure.

It might be too early to tell on Iglesias, but I am inclined to believe he is the real deal. He has some serious movement on his pitches and that will win a lot of games on that alone.

Also, as for Votto, so damn glad he is back. Was worried he would never recover fully from the injury but he has and is back to being Votto. Will also make it easier to swallow his salary pill if he can be an MVP contender nearly every year.

Lots of talk that Jocketty may get moved out of GM role, which I would welcome. My guess is they will ditch the Price experiment as well. Both would be welcome changes, but with change, comes uncertainty of who the next person will be and if they will be better. Those 2 possible changes and a few prospects and Votto is about all I have to hang onto with this team for the foreseeable future.

I guess thats the 1 positive that can come out of this season, is Votto has proved a lot of naysayers wrong, and is back to being Vottomatic. Votto since he got called up has been 1 of my favorites, although Bench will always be #1 on my list.

You could see glimpses during the 1st half of the season that Votto was back, but it was inconsistent and the 1 thing Joey has always been when healthy is consistent, and never seemingly going into a slump.

Im glad to see Votto shut a lot of fools up, especially the ones who were questioning him really being injured last season, along with the idiots that felt he would rather tak a walk then get a hit.

While I thought Votto would get back tio being 1 of the best hitters in the game, I have to say I wasn't sure if he would ever get back to MVP type #'s, its too bad he plays on arguably the worst team in baseball this season with what he is doing the 2nd half.
