Sam LeCure could have lost his right arm this spring and he'd still be more valuable than Kevin Gregg is.

Joey Votto thinks you're ignorant if you think he needs to change his approach to the plate.

          I concur sir.

              It happens.

I'm more concerned with these guys....

              Devin Mesoraco's hip
Brandon Phillip's lack of power so far (zero extra base hits)
              Marlon Byrd's lack of everything
Billy Hamilton's inability to get on base (that speed does no good if it's sitting in the dugout)
Middle relief (Price leaving Homer in a batter too long was a vote of zero confidence in those guys)

Than Joey Votto who is slashing .350/.480/.750, and leads the team in OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+, HR, and RBIs (take that Marty).

Yeah, Votto ain't the problem. He can't do it all himself.

You have Hamilton and Mesoraco on the bench, so you have Boesch stealing bases and Pena pinch hitting. Why in the **** are they not on the DL if they can't play? So done with this management by Jocketty and Price. What an absolute tire fire of a franchise.

                      And Votto would be correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heck its just plain stupidity for someone to think not making a out is bad.

I don't get Walt's thinking of making his managers play shorthanded as much as he has since being the GM. He did the same crap to Dusty, and he does it to Price too. Mez by now should have been put on the DL, I know from experience a hip doesn't usually heal itself in a 2 or 3 days, and form what I have heard, the discomfort in his hip, is quite a bit, so it doesn't sound like it was going to heal in 2 or 3 days.

It gets old watching the Cards own us year after year. Leake pitched a heck of a game tonight, to not get any run support

Bryan Price had an epic rant with the media prior to tonight's 6-1 victory over the Brewers. He apparently dropped 77 f bombs during his five minute tirade with the beat writers.

                          Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Kicking and screaming ain't gonna do **** for the Reds, but it's refreshing to see that our manager gives a damn. Although it wasn't really about their play so far, just about the media instantly revealing anything Price says to the world. Not sure if this is specific to the Reds journalists or a usual practice.

Kinda comes off as Price not being able to deal with being "the guy" as the manager and not just a pitching coach. He hasn't been dealt the best hand for a roster (and a strong division), but it wouldn't surprise me to see this thing get blown up this year including axing Price.

Our best case scenario seems like 4th place. We can't beat the Cards, apparently we can't beat the Cubs, and if we play the Pirates again I'm pretty sure we wouldn't beat them either. Thank goodness for the Brewers! They may be the only thing protecting us from the cellar.

That hot start almost made me feel like when we're on we can play with the best teams, but since then it's become blatantly obvious our flaws are too large to overcome on a regular basis.

I'm prepared for a long season. The sooner we get started on getting value back for players who don't fit in to the long term plan, the better. No sense in holding on to players who are only gonna win us 70-75 games.

I've been very impressed by DeSclafani so far this year. I know he was projected to have a better year than Latos by one advanced metric, but I was skeptical. It's early, but he's looked great and we have him under multiple years of control still. I'd still trade Cueto & Chapman (Plus BP if you could do it ala Kimbrel/Upton) as soon as possible, but it looks like to me with Iglesias & DeScalfani we have a couple of solid pieces for the future in the rotation. That isn't even considering the bevy of guys led by Robert Stephenson we have in the minors.
Also Votto is back to 2012 pre knee injury Votto where he was on pace to shatter the doubles record from the looks of thing. He won't win MVP on a terrible team, but if he keeps this up his numbers will be better than anyones.

Yeah, this DeSclafini kid is really growing on me. He could be a leader in the changing of the guard from the days of Cueto, Latos, and farther back, Volquez. Leake seems to have taken a step, and hopefully Homer can be the solid 2-3 he's been. I don't see ace in any of them, but aces don't exactly grow on trees either.

The Reds are in such an odd position. I've never seen a team with so much talent, seemingly, be stuck in this mediocre purgatory that we are. It's really frustrating as a fan, but it could end up fast tracking a resurgence if we execute it correctly. This down year is going to have a huge impact on how quickly we can trend back upwards by how long ownership/front office cling to the bygone success of earlier this decade or how much they embrace getting good pieces back for guys who aren't going to get any better or contribute to our long term goals. No one wants to admit defeat and drag fans through a crappy 90-100 loss season, but sometimes you have to take your lumps today to build a playoff or WS contender for tomorrow.

Votto isn't going anywhere, and combined with Frazier/Mesoraco/Hamilton are a pretty solid core four. Hopefully we can move Byrd and Bruce for value as teams separate and become buyers or sellers. If we can get a king's ransom for Cueto, that would be HUGE. And I love Chapman at the end of games, but if we ain't leading games, his value is minimized. Move him too if we can, I'm sure teams will be looking for bullpen help and he's pretty much the ace of the relievers so the haul back would be pretty significant.

We can't stand pat. I'm not saying sell off everyone right now, but these guys need to be moved soon. I wouldn't even be opposed to Hamilton getting shipped out -- we need someone to get on in front of our best players, and teams will be enamored with his physical skills and obviously his age and I assume team control/contract, so I see the returns being solid.

Don't think Price is our manager next season either, although if we do go firesale, I'm not sure if it'll even matter.

Interested to see how Cincinnati plays this.

I just think it's funny that it always seems to be C. Trent in the middle of these tirades (first BP, now Price).

Also get enjoyment reading people's comments who are so offended by this tirade. Please...I'm more offended by Price's choice to keep sending Kevin Gregg in with a game on the line.*

(Unless he doesn't agree with Uncle Walt about Gregg being on the roster, so he keeps sending him during important situations as a "see Uncle Walt, he sucks" kind of move.)

I would be frustrated too if I had to keep managing with a man down, or with a roster where if my lead off hitter is down, my next best available option is Skip Schumaker???
