    Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Congrats to Jr, even though Im sure he goes in as a Mariner and rightfully so, since its where he had basically all of his success and most time spent there, he will always be a part of the Reds great history. Even with things not going as had hope in a Reds uniform, hes still one fo the all tiem greats, and for a stretch of 7-9 years you could argue he was the greatest to ever play in modern day history that is.

On a side note any of you guys have issues with your PC when coming to OS? I have a powerful gaming PC, and dont have issues on other sites, but for some reason my PC gets here and it does weird things, and sometimes I cant hardly type because of the freezing issues, to where things lock up.

Yeah he's going in as a Mariner. He was in Cincy for a surprisingly long time though, of course the injuries.

I use Tapatalk on my phone so no issues here!

So the Reds signed a Cuban shortstop for $6 million who can pick it with the best of them, but he can't hit.

Yep, we already had a ss you could pick it but isnt much of ah itter in Cozart, just what we need another great defensive player who cant hit worth a lick, I guess Cozart and Billy isnt enough lite hitters. As i wouldnt trust what we saw offensively with Cozart last year before he got hurt.

            Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Really glad to see that finally Pete is getting his due with the Reds after all these years and getting 14 officially retired and going into the Reds HOF. He does have the 14 bats on the smoke stacks basically dedicated to him, really only thing Carl Linder did worth a crap while owning the team, lol. Plus even though 14 wasn't officially retired it was retired because there was no way the Stowes or anyone with the Reds would give out 14 anyway, but still glad its now officially being retired.

While I know some are upset Manfred didn't overturn Pete's ban from the game, although as much as I love Pete I agree with Manfreds decision, but those who are upset should give Manfred some acknowledgement for allowing the Reds to do this.

I wish I could be here when they honor Pete, as it might be the last time with all the Great 8 there together with their age and my health not being very good. My wife and I use to go to Opening day each year, but since my health turned bad and its cost us a lot financially we haven't been able to make it to Opening Day or any games, but this I'm definitely going to fight thru the pain to go if we have the money that is, which is definitely a big if unfortunately.

Pete has his issues and he is the one who made the bed he is lying in now with MLB, but still to this day there has never been anyone who played the game harder and the right way more than Pete Rose did.

Junketty says off season moves are most likely done. What a pathetic front office, this team can't even rebuild correctly. Never ceases to amaze me.

The Reds suck. I love the farm system though so it should be sweet to see all of them become busts.

Im with you, while I didnt agree with all the moves, or not so much the moves but what we got in return, I have to say our farm system is in much better shape now than it has been in a while. Really only trades that havent made me all to excited was obviously Chapman and Fraziers trades. Not that we didnt get back nothing worth anything, but I think we could have got more for both imo. Dont know what they were offered at trade deadline for either, but I got a feeling Chapman we had a better offer then than what we ended up with. Still I do believe we got a couple players out of those deals who will have impacts for us at some point.

Pitchers and catchers report in 15 days, Reds report in 16 days. Basketball and football pre season is dull especially football, but there is something special about Spring Training games, and hearing those 3 little words Pitchers and Catchers report. While I love all 3 sports, and being a Indiana kid basketball has a very special place for me, but I always tell my wife Baseball is God's chosen sport, there is just something about baseball that no other sport can give you the thrill that comes with it.

I hated the trades in the off-season because they could have gotten so much more during the season. Could you imagine what Frazier would have went for right after winning the Derby? Arguably the best 3b in baseball at the time with 2+ team friendly years left. Could have got a kings ransom. But no effing Walt Jocketty.

                      Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Getting amped up for this season. More for the league then the Reds because we know this season is going to be ugly as far as wins and losses go. Still should be fun to see young guys get a shot, and who knows what they'll be able to put together getting a chance to play regularly.

We still do have Votto, Hamilton, Bruce, and Mes who are either great or have shown they can be good. Consistency seems to be the problem. Hoping Mes bounces back from a tough, injury-plagued season last year. He pretty much missed the whole season and it was handled completely ineptly. That can't happen again, and that's on the management.

So there are some things to look forward to in Cincinnati. The NL seems separated pretty clearly by haves and havenots, though. I only see SF jumping back in to the playoffs, replacing probably PIT.

I enjoyed last season for the MLB as a whole more then any season in recent memory. Turned upside down in the AL, rebuilt clubs ahead of schedule across the league, and young talent galore.

After years of being dragged through the mud I think MLB is experiencing a renaissance and settling comfortably in as the #2 sport in the US. There's nothing wrong with that, either. In fact, for being a complete grind going up against a quick, violent, condensed game like football, it's damn impressive.

I've always felt like baseball is more a feeling than a sport. Maybe because I'm a spring guy and baseball signals the beginning of warmer temperatures and bringing people back to life. I didn't even grow up on the game (was born in to hockey) but it's infected my bloodstream over the past 15 years. I love sports in general, but hockey, football, and baseball have a special place and there's an attraction to baseball that isn't there for the other sports. Looking forward to what this season brings.

                        Re: 2015 Cincinnati Reds

Considering we traded Leake, Cueto, Frazier and Chapman, I would hope that our farm system is in better shape, which it is. BUT, it isn't what it could or should be. A couple of those prospects may turn out to be decent to good MLB players, but we don't have anyone in the Top 30 in baseball. Considering what we just traded, and because of the timing of the trade, we definitely did not get back what we could have if the front office had a clue about what they were doing.

For me personally, there is still nothing to get excited about for the Reds future. I just don't see how the Reds will be any or much better with what we currently have on the team and in the minors, even looking out 3-4 years from now. I hope I am wrong, but I just don't see much to get excited about. Outside of the fact that we have 3,000 right handed pitchers that MAYBE the Reds will use for trade (the right ones hopefully) to get even more good players that are young and have a bright future. But truthfully I have no faith in the front office to do anything worth a crap, so until they prove to me otherwise, I will just sit back and watch from a distance.

I agree, it seems going by past transactions of other teams rebuilding these past few years, that you wod of thought that our guys would have been worth more than what we got.
I definitely feel we got short changed on both Frazier and Chapman, the other moves I think we did good on overall. We should have went into this season with both Frazier and Chapman since neither were moved during the season.
I think they got scared with Chapman's domestic case, which I figured there wouldn't be nothing come of it, so if I knew that they should have with there contacts. You know the Yanks knew, because of their contacts in Florida.

With Frazier it sounded like he was the future according to all reports thruout the season, then they decide to move him this winter. Obviously they had already offered him a deal that told them they probably woldnt be able to resign him longterm, so they should have moved him at trade deadling. As right after HR Derby was when Frazier was at his highest value.

I got a feelimg there is probably some people thruout baseball that has to be laughing at the way some of these moves took place.

Still no matter how highly valued a prospect is, he is just that a prospect and nothing more. There are no sure things in baseball, and I do feel we will have a couple of these guys go on to do special things, but its hard to overlook the feeling that we got robbed on Chapman and Frazier deals.

Honestly, I'm not looking forward to the season. Although I can't wait to see how well Frazier does for the Sox. He'll be even better than he was most likely - that's usually how it works. Once guys get traded from the Reds they get even better.

I also think we should have some kind of bet on which player will do really well this year and then get traded near or in the offseason. The Reds always do that.

Will there come a day when the fans get loud and pissed enough that we force the higher up in the organization to step down? I'm a Michigan fan and we got Dave Brandon to leave. Who knows?

Best example of that was Paul O'Neill. Dude was a career .259 hitter with the Reds for 8 seasons (6 really since he only played in 8 games his first 2 years). Never batted higher than .276. Traded to the Yankees in 1993 and promptly hit .311, .359 (batting title), .300, .302, .324 and .317 in his first 6 seasons there. He tailed off a little in his last 3 seasons but ended up with a .303 avg with the Yankees over 9 seasons.

I can't think of a better example of someone being THAT much better after leaving the Reds.

Good old Leatherpants....he was all about the tools. Got a hard on for Roberto Kelly.

Though Kelly did play well...when he was able to stay on the field. Durability issues his time in Cincy.

Though he did net us Prime Time....what did I say about Jim Bowden and tools?
