Lamar Odom and Cat Mobley must be proud! Rhody might be ranked next Sunday if they don't lose this week.

That's ridiculous. Nivins is their best weapon down low and he's good. Xavier never has anyone to match up against him, defensively. I've periodically checked up on St. Joe's so far this season and don't recall Nivins doing a whole lot, which is quite shocking. Like you mention, they still running their offense like Jameer, Delonte, or even Pat Carroll, are still around?

Yeah. it's still pass the ball around, drive and dish out to the open man for the three.

They don't play again until the 22nd, they need some people to lose to really bad teams and they could sneak in. They have a legit shot of getting ranked before conference play starts, two of the three teams they have left have looked really, really bad and they should be able to beat Georgia Southern even though they've played well so far. Pretty easy schedule left, I hope they finish OOC play at 13-1 which should be enough to get them ranked.

Plus UD got a better than average road win at Holy Cross.

Yes they did. Worcester is not an easy place to win a game. That was a nice win for UD.

Umass with a pretty big win at BC. Other then its a down year for them it still looks good going into a ACC team gym and leaving with a W.

Ricky Harris is a scorer! Only a Sophomore too

BC may be down, but they were still 7-1 heading in with wins over Rhode Island and Maryland. They were also getting votes in the AP Poll, so it's still a pretty good win for UMass. They've got three easy ones before a really difficult OOC-ending/A10-starting stretch with Houston, Vandy, St. Joe's, Dayton, Charlotte, St. Joe's, Xavier and Duquesne. They better get these next 3, getting out of that stretch with more than 4 wins would be a great accomplishment for them.

Good win by Xavier, the first time I've seen them play this year. They obviously didn't play their best game, but after being down 5 late to your rival and pulling out a win, you'll take that every time. They've won the first two of their crazy OOC stretch, big game against Arizona State this weekend, it would be really nice to get that win heading into a week off and Tennessee.

Second time I've seen UMass this year and, I'm impressed. Three scoring guards and a fast and furious team. They were sloppy at times, but they're always going at full speed. That's road wins against 'Cuse and BC.

These are all Fords guys now and they're playing his brand of game vs. the Freeman/Lasme plodding big man game they played last year.

Chris Lowe is one of the fastest PGs, I've ever seen in the A10.

I was at the game last night and it was nuts. I've never seen a guy taken off on a stretcher (UC's Marvin Gentry - it was precautionary) and Josh Duncan hurt his knee (had an MRI today and I don't know the results). It was an ugly basketball game but exciting at the same time. Two big rivals playing with players that don't like one another. Fights nearly started several times. The XU and UC players have gotten plenty of games in against each other, especially in the Deveroes Summer League. I didn't go to a game this past summer but that is some of the best basketball you don't hear about and it gets pretty intense. Anyway, I'm heading out to Tempe on Saturday for the game (as long as the weather in Cincy cooperates). Hopefully they'll play better and get a win from Sendek's team. XU fans will be more fired up for the 12/22 Tennessee game than they were last night.

As soon as the league starts getting some attention there is a tough day like yesterday. Xavier going down to a good ASU team hurts their national ranking. Charlotte loses to a sub-par Hofstra team. At least SLU beat a good Southern Illinois team and UMass held on. Dayton took care of business as well.

Yeah, the Xavier loss hurts but wasn't completely unexpected. The amount of points they lost by was surprising. It's their most lopsided loss since dropping a game to LaSalle at the Cincy Gardens in 2000 by the score of 80-49. The Crosstown Shootout against UC tends to be exhausting for both teams. Plus Duncan was hurt. Herb Sendek's team was ready and did everything right though. They deserve a ton of credit. Even if XU wasn't coming off the UC game and had Duncan, I think it would have been a great game against ASU and they still might have lost.

Little surprised Hofstra beat your boys. They aren't very good this year and the Niners had won some nice games lately. Yeah, at least UD is winning. They are becoming hard to root for though. Flyer fans posting on Dustin Dow's Cincy Enquirer blog are arrogant and annoying as hell. Not as bad as the UC fans but bad enough. People like that make it hard to root for either team to do well.

There are no excuses for losing to Hofstra considering how much they lost from last year, but this was Charlotte's first true road game of the year(they played 3 neutral site games), and when you have 8 new players on your team, playing the first road game of the year is an adventure. They shouldn't have lost, it makes two pretty bad losses early on, pretty disappointing regardless of the circumstance.

I know what you mean about a team having fans that make it hard to root for them, I've not been exposed to any truly annoying A10 fans so far, so I am still enjoying watching Daytong, URI, UMass and Xavier all perform well. I do know that Dayton travels well, they had a pretty big following down in Charlotte a couple of years ago, pretty impressive.
