Look out A-10. Chris Wright is a stud! He'll probably be UD's first NBAer since Negele Knight.

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Truth be told, St. Joe's is not going to be a hard team to handle if they continue playing like softies and relying on the three.
The 'Cuse is winning tonight because St. Joe's is steady playing a perimeter game. I like Martelli alot, but this isn't like the Jameer/Delonte team. Your strength are the big guys.

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
If Kevin Jones Commits to UMass today, its over for the rest of the A10 for years to come. TF already brought in a great recruiting class for next year and with kevin jones..... DAMN!

08-09 Frosh
Kenny Frease 6-11 C (was being recruited by Kentucky and Notre Dame)
Mark Lyons 6-1 PG (Might be the starting PG next season)
Brad Redford 6-0 SG (Lights out from long-range)
Brian Walsh 6-4 SF/SG (Versatile swingman is how he's been dubbed)
08-09 Transfers
Jamel McLean PF (Transfer from Tulsa)
Andrew Taylor PF/SF (Transfer from DII school in Michigan - played high school ball with X's BJ Raymond)
You combine those 6 with who will be back next year (Derrick Brown, BJ Raymond, CJ Anderson, Dante Jackson, Adrion Graves, Jason Love, Charles Bronson) and I'm already looking forward to seeing how great the team will be in 2008-09. Sean Miller helped get Frease by saying he wanted him to be XU's Greg Oden. The Muskies will be awesome next season. The scary thing is despite the loss last night to rival Miami, they're going to be damn good this season.
I love that the A-10 schools are getting great recruits coming in. It helps the league as a whole. Everyone's success helps everybody else. But, don't say it's over for the rest of the A-10 because of Kevin Jones. Xavier, Dayton, St. Joe's, GW, and plenty of other schools will have something to say about that.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Yeah, have you seen Xavier's 2008-09 freshman class as well as a couple of guys that are eligible for them after sitting out this season due to transferring? I'm sorry but XU is still going to be top dog, and I'm normally not boasting like this.

Im not just saying because of Kevin Jones which we did not land, but because of all the other recruits we have received verbal from. TF is doing big things

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
I know he is. It'll be great having UMass back where they belong competing for an A-10 title every year. Even though it's tougher for X to succeed if that is the case, I love great competition in A-10 play. I always root for A-10 schools in OOC and in the NCAA tournament. I get to watch all of the teams play so much every season it's hard not to!MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Big win by UMass over Syracuse in The Carrier Dome 107-100. Loved Boeheim's shocked reaction after the intentional foul by, I think Devendorf, on a UMass guy as he was driving for a dunk and got clobbered. Give me a break. Suck it, Jimmy boy! Go A-10!MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Just throwing in an update on my boys, Charlotte loses to Monmouth and then comes back to beat Wake Forest last night. If they can develop any sort of offensive consistency by January when their starting PG comes back(sitting out as a transfer the first semester) they will be in the thick of things in the A10.
Xavier has looked a lot better than I thought they would, pretty impressive, UMass as well. Maybe the A10 gets back to being a multi at-large bid league this year, they got lucky with A10 championship game upsets the past two years, hopefully more than one team earns the at-large selection this year.Comment

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Flyers at least are getting wins, great comeback against Miami, who is playing really well this year.
Can't wait for Feb 24th, will be going back to my first X game since I graduated in '03...man that is depressing, missing the 'ghetto' even more thinking about it now.Comment

IUPUI-89, UMass-77
Check the box score out. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/boxscore?gid=200712011090
UMass had 23 fouls to IUPUI's 12 and IUPUI attempted 26 FTA to UMass' 12 FTA.
I have done no research on the Summit League, or whatever the Mid-Con is called now. Is IUPUI supposed to be any good?MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread
Pretty good night overall last night for the A10. It would have been nice to see Richmond and/or St. Bonnie pick up wins, but the rest of the league did what they needed to. A Duquesne win would have been nice, but hardly expected, they do look pretty good though with their only loss a 5 point battle against #9. Dayton, Charlotte & X all beat good teams.
Some big games this weekend. URI vs. Syracuse and Dayton vs Louisville, either would be big wins and say a lot about the strength of the top of the A10. Plus WVU and Southern Illinois, and Sunday games against Nova and VA Tech. Could be a lot of RPI-boosting wins for the conference.Comment
