Yeah, from the box score it looks like Dayton didn't play all that badly. Richmond was just on fire the whole game.

    Other scores tonight...

St. Joe's-68, Temple-67 <--- Watched this one on tv. Great game!
    Rhody-89, St. Bona-77
    Duquesne-92, GW-67
    Charlotte-74, Fordham-60

    Sunday @ 12:00 PM...Xavier @ UMass.
    MLB: Cincinnati Reds
    NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
    NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
    NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
    NHL: Calgary Flames

The Joe went up to North Broad Street and took one from an up-and-coming Temple squad. Indeed, Slim...that was a sick game. Big 5 action at its best.

I'm pretty sure now that The Joe is the best team in Philadelphia.

I agree with you since 'Nova has lost some weird games lately. Big game for the "Best in Philly" title a week from Monday between 'Nova and St. Joe's. Are they playing that one at The Palestra?

I can honestly say I was not sweating when UMass cut X's lead to 5 points with a minute or so left. X has been hanging onto games lately when a team has tried to make a comeback. Sure enough, 20 seconds after the lead was cut to 5, they bumped the lead to 11 on 6 quick fast-break points beating the press. Very nice win today for the Muskies.

Dayton is in trouble, losing to Richmond is bad, injuries or not. Their style of play can frustrate teams, but you have to get by that and beat them, tough tough loss for Dayton. It'll be intersting to see how they play the rest of the way.

UMass missed a big chance to get themselves national attention and really solidify themselves as an at-large team. Right now it's Xavier and Rhode Island with Dayton trying to hang on and UMass and St. Joe's needing to keep winning to hope to get the league more than 2 bids.

I honestly don't think Dayton has to worry. Hopefully they'll get their guys healthy in time to show the committee that they're for real. If they get five to six games including A-10 tourney where they're winning games at full strength, they'll be a lock.

I still see the A-10 getting four teams without any problems. If you look around the country, there's only a few bubble teams that might have a case over a school like UMass or St Joes.

Ah, 'Nova versus St. Joseph's...the Holy War.

Yesh, it will be at the Palestra. It will be on CSTV that night.

Good day for the league. St. Joe's survives a scare at GW, UMass and URI both pick up games they were expected to win. And, of course, Dayton finally plays a good game without Wright and Little to trounce St. Louis.

Dayton @ Rhode Island looks like the game of the weekend in the league, it'll be interesting to see which Dayton team shows up on the road in a big league game.

                      Scores so far today...

                      Rhody-82, Dayton-70
                      SLU-71, UMass-59

UMass might have just lost their at-large bid. Nice job guys. They need to win the rest of their conference games to have a chance. Those games include playing Rhody twice so there may be some hope. Disappointed in them though. Majerus' Billikens are such a Jekyl-and-Hyde team. Makes me slightly worried about Xavier playing there next Thursday.

                        Richmond beats Charlotte.

Dayton is looking very shaky for an at-large bid, they need to do something to right the ship, they have 5 winnable games coming up, they need to get 4 to get back in the at-large discussion.

Right now Xavier and URI are looking good for at-large bids and St. Joe's has overtaken both Dayton and UMass, at this point getting 3 bids would be an accomplishment.

Wow...Charlotte was 1-23 from 3PT-range. They were beaten slightly on the boards. Poor shooting killed them. Goldwire was only 1-9 with 5 points? Tough loss.

Richmond is another Jekyl and Hyde team. The Spiders are so young that every win in A-10 play impresses me.

Mooney decided before the season, not to show video of the opponents to the team, instead just giving the players scouting reports. He thought showing them video may lead to bad habits. The defense has normally always been good at Richmond dating back to the mid 80's. Last year was a different story. This year, the team is competing hard on both ends of the floor and is learning how to finish games. With such a young team, I am looking forward to see what the can do next year.

I agree with you, kodiak. Lots of young guys on that team and they will only get better. Moliva and Sylla are both seniors and the last remnants of Jerry Wainwright's time there. Richmond is a tough team to play against if you're the road team.
