One of the worst sporting event experiences for me ever...the 1990 MCC Championship game between Xavier and Dayton at the UD Arena. I'll never forget it. UD won the game led by Negele Knight. I've been to a lot of games at that arena and I don't think I've ever heard it any louder than it was that night. I remember one of the UD cheerleaders dancing on the floor by himself to "Back to Life" by Snap in the 2nd half. The crowd got even more fired up after that. Great basketball game but crappy memory for a young Xavier fan. At least the Muskies went to the Sweet 16 that season too.

Everyone took care of business tonight except UD. Omaha is a tough play to go on the road and bring home a win. No shame in that loss, in my opinion. Creighton will be as good as always this year.

      UMass-73, Holy Cross-59
Charlotte-70, Miss St - 64 <--- Nice road win, CM. Maybe the Niners are starting to put it together?

      Xavier-78, Ohio U.-56
      Creighton-77, Dayton-59

After my experience at the Xavier/Dayton game tonight, I can honestly say that a lot of UD fans are HORRIBLE winners. I used to root for all A-10 teams to do well in OOC play, and in general, when they aren't playing X. UD is officially off that list. You can thank the drunk, obnoxious current, or recent, UD student deliberately swinging a towel at my head the entire game, "accidentally" spilling beer in my seat, and yelling in my ear constantly for that. I ignored it until the very end when he tried to slap my hand and say "good game." For the first time in a long time I nearly punched someone in the mouth.

        You stay classy Dayton fans.

I had a similar experience as a UD fan at the old Cincinnati Gardens. An old Xavier fan got in my face and starting chanting "NIT, NIT" after Xavier beat the Flyers.
Sorry you had a bad experience. I think you would run into that treatment at any college event where two big rivals are playing.

I've been hearing more and more about Xavier fans acting like that or worse. I can tell you, none of the people that sit by me at home games do that kind of stuff. I'm sure there are plenty in the building that do, which is pathetic if you ask me. I've never understood what motivates people to taunt fans of another team or school, unless they had it coming of course. Last night I was minding my own business just trying to watch the game. I contemplated on more than one occasion during that time whether it would be worth spending a night in jail because of those idiots, but obviously I came to my senses.

Probably not. It is a rivalry. I've calmed down since my original post about that game but it still ticks me off. I'm embarrassed that there are some XU fans that do similar things. Whoever they are, they've never sat around me at home games.

Well guys, if everything goes according to plans, I will be a 49er next year, and hope that they become competitive once again. Can't wait!

Congrats. Y'all just beat the worst 21-5 team in the country. Xavier absolutely sucks right now.

EDIT: I didn't want that to come off like I was diminishing the win. 49ers showed up tonight, played hard, and won. They just beat the top two teams in the A-10 within the last two weeks.

                          What's wrong w/X? They've suddenly lost 3 of 4. Dayton wasn't a surprise. The Bonnies & Niners is.

X has no senior leadership, despite two great senior players, their PG play has been atrocious, and their best player (Derrick Brown) seems he'd rather spend more time hanging outside the 3-point line than using his athletic, 6'9" body to score down low, rebound, and shut people down on defense. What's scary is Sean Miller has somehow lost these guys as far as motivation goes. They aren't responding. They've been playing down to their competition on the road and against Charlotte they seemed like they didn't want to be there. The only bright spots have been Brad Redford, who has unlimited range, Kenny Frease, who has played better as the season has progressed, and Jamel McLean, who can jump out of the gym and is a rebounding machine, when he plays. Otherwise, this bunch is underachieving.

I'm already looking forward to next season for Xavier. They lose BJ Raymond and CJ Anderson, but they gain Jamal Crawford, Mark Lyons, and Kevin Parrom. Plus the freshmen will have a year under their belt. If Derrick Brown removes his head from his ***, gets back to playing ball instead of trying to showcase his shooting skills to NBA scouts, and stays his senior year, they have a Final 4 caliber team.
