Charlotte is now 1-6 with the only win over UNCG. The craziest part about it is that it is essentially the exact same team as last year minus one player. They have looked completely lost this year without him.

CM is definitely the Charlotte expert around here so he is the one to ask. As far as SLU goes, good crop of freshmen and some good upperclassmen (Kevin Lisch, Tommie Liddell, Barry Eberhardt) are what they have. I think they'll have a similar season overall to 2007-08. They beat Boston College and lost to Detroit Mercy already this season. Depends on what team shows up the night SIU plays them. Don't think that a Majerus-coached team will be a walk-in-the-park regardless.

We have a young squad ourselves. Top 25 recruiting class, but very young. So far our team has mounted a huge comeback against UMass, hung with Duke and UCLA for 32 minutes each before getting worn out, and got beat by what appears to be a solid WKU team. One of our star recruits, Dillard (Fr.-G) has quickly earned the nick name magical or tragical. A lot of talent, but is still turning the ball over a lot as he gets used to the college game.

Going to be intersting seeing these two squads grow and battle it out in the upcomming years.

You should get this thread (http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ey-thread.html) going again. I know there are a few other MVC fans on OS and just general college b'ball junkies (like me) that will post in there sometimes.

Got to watch UD's upset of Marquette. They play some hard-nosed defense. Also, doesn't hurt when you've got a guy who can do this:

I want to see Derrick Brown and Jamel McLean do a dunk contest with Chris Wright. He scares me, from a Xavier fan's point of view. Seriously. He will be POY in the A-10 before he leaves.

Well, now it's official. Jordan Crawford has to sit out this season at Xavier. I didn't have much hope anyway. Why the NCAA couldn't have decided this months ago is beyond me.

Crawford, Holman lose appeals to play for different schools

Former Indiana guard Jordan Crawford lost an appeal for a waiver to play this season at Xavier.

Xavier officials were told by the NCAA that Crawford would have to sit this season per the one-year in-residence requirement for a four-year transfer.

Crawford's former teammate, Eli Holman, was denied a similar request to play this season at Detroit without sitting out.

Armon Bassett was attempting to do the same thing at UAB but based on these results likely wouldn't receive different news.

Crawford will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The former Indiana players were hoping that NCAA sanctions against the school would help their case but Indiana received no postseason ban and a three-year probation that included accepting IU's self-imposed sanctions, nothing new against the school.

The IU players could have played for new coach Tom Crean and wouldn't have seen their careers interrupted by any sanctions. The IU players were recruited by former coach Kelvin Sampson, now an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks. Sampson received a five-year show-cause penalty by the NCAA's committee on infractions for his role in the violations.

Crawford and Holman can continue to practice with their respective teams and both will be counted on heavily in 2009-10.

I agree. UD scares me this year as much as they did when Waleskowski was playing. If they can beat Creighton in a few days, I can easily see them undefeated heading into conference play and maybe up to the XU/UD game in Dayton that I'll be attending in February.

I hope so. This team reminds me of the Negele Knight squad that made it to the Sweet 16. But I'm not suprised that they are so good. The foundation was set last year before Wright got hurt and Roberts got the flu for a month. I'm wishing that I could've gotten tickets for this game. It's SRO and none of the guys I know who have Fylers season tickets are willing to part with one. Oh well, it is televised.... I just hope both teams are on a roll headed into the game. When they are both good, this series has produced some really memorable games!

I was at the UD/Akron game on Saturday and we estimated that about 1/3 of the crowd was rooting on the Flyers. Ugly game, but I think that's how this team is going to win games - with defense.
