    Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread

Enes Kanter, the Turkish big man, just de-committed from Washington. Sources are saying that UK is going hard after him.

UK is going to need to find someone to replace Cousins and Patterson. We have Orton, who will be great, but he can't be asked to play more than 25-30 minutes a game next year. The only back up we have down low is Harrelson who can stroke the 3 and....well that's about it. Big body that is slow as Christmas.

Problem with Kanter is the same problem that has always been there. He played professional ball in Turkey but didn't receive or accept payment for playing. I am sure the NCAA will rule him out for like 20 games like Kiliclicliclillicl at WVU.

Bah. Losing Kanter would SUCK. We need someone like him badly. Hopefully this is just him looking around before coming back to Washington, but somehow I doubt it.

Obviously recruiting is on the backburner right now, but bump as we head into the final month of recruiting for the 2010 class.

Michigan's got two spots open and two targets left on the board - 3-star PF Jon Horford (Al's little brother) and 4-star wing Trey Zeigler. Horford is all but a done deal, just has to visit and get the whole academic presentation before Beilein makes his offer official, upon which it's expected he will commit. As for Zeigler, the latest whispers have Michigan "ahead by a nose", with UCLA in hot pursuit and Central Michigan as the darkhorse.

Not 2010, but Duke gets a commit from 2011 SF Michael Gbinije.

Louisville's signees thus far for 2011:

5* Wayne Blackshear 6-4 SG (Morgan Park HS - Chicago, IL)

4* Zach Price 6-10 C (St. Edward HS - Lakewood, OH)

3* Ryan Taylor 6-5 SF (Lawrence North HS - Indianapolis, IN)

blackshear is an absolute monster! Weber losing him isnt a huge deal as Illinois needs to focus on some bigs they've got some good guards coming in as well as with Paul and Richardson they have Jereme Richmond, Crandall Head and others signed Weber is recruiting the state much better than the past

JuCo SF Carrick Felix commits to Duke and will be eligible to play next season...first ever JuCO player to come to Duke since K's been here. From what I hear he is more of an athlete than a basketball player, but we need that badly.

Enes Kanter has just committed to Kentucky per Evan Daniels.

Great pick up for the Cats. We're gonna need a lot to replace everyone that leaves. Hope he is as good as everyone says he is.

I'm reading that Florida has taken themselves out of the running for Brandon Knight. I guess that means they were never seriously in the running for him anyways.. You don't just give up on a #1 prospect with 4.0 GPA...

                        Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread

According to Evan Daniels at Scout.com, the Cats have received a verbal from Turkish big man Enes Kanter. Once committed to Washington, the 6-foot-9 center who now resides in California, visited Kentucky late this season and decided Lexington was the place for him.

Enes is a five-star recruit according to Rivals.com.

Rumors about his eligibility still remain, even though the Turkish pro team he played for reportedly never paid him. I would assume though that UK would not take a commitment if they weren't sure he would be good to go next year.

A new NCAA rule that was passed in January will allow foreign players who played for professional teams without being paid to remain eligible.

Let the Michael Scott jokes begin! Evan Daniels of Scout.com is reporting Enes Kanter has committed to Kentucky. The 6′11″ Turkish big man has been a late arrival on the recruiting scene and originally committed to Washington way back when. But now Daniels says he has cast his lot with UK today. According to Daniels, who has been high on this kid from the moment he arrived, Kanter has the complete skill package and is a big man who can do it all. He is not really the typical Euro big man that stays on the outside. According to Daniels, he likes to mix it up down low and can be a force on the post.
The issue with Kanter will be his eligibility to play next year. He played in Europe and will likely have to deal with his status there and his amateurism here. There have been some rule changes to make it easier for players to come to America and play college basketball and Kanter turned down a number of pro offers in Europe to come play college basketball here. He believes playing for Calipari is the way to the promised land and if this year’s draft class is any indication, he is correct.

Nate James is really paying off on the recruiting trail. Glad we got Nate Dogg on the staff and he's really working hard. These last 2 commitments are all him period.

Not that it should come is a surprise to anyone, but apparently Brandon Knight slipped up in an interview today and said "we" when referencing Kentucky.

He is going to officially announce his decision at half time of the burger boy game tomorrow night, but thankfully no one has to wait anymore - not that it was much of a mystery to begin with.

So does Selby or Lamb follow Knight to UK? I think Cory Joseph ends up at Texas, Selby at Tennessee (just added them back to his list). Not sure about Lamb, if I had to guess I'd say Kansas.

Gtown picked up a late 4* recruit in Moses Abraham. The kid is very raw and only has been playing hoops for a couple of years.

It is looking more and more like Bledsoe is going pro. He isn't ready but his family really needs the money.

Cal is putting on the full court press to get Selby with Knight. Might actually be a chance although not a given by any stretch.
