After Syracuse and Cincinnati, coaches are going to start watching film on us pretty closely and will make some adjustments. The UConn game and the upcoming home games vs. Louisville and Georgetown will give us a real sense of how this team matches up with the top teams in the conference. The Big East is so deep. Even though we are 3-0, I am still going to say that I will be thrilled with a conference record of .500. With such an inexperienced team, anything better than .500 would be a bonus.
Maybe I got a little carried away saying they would be a top 4 team; I will say that they will not be playing on Tuesday in the Garden. I still see a top 6 finish at least.

Yes, their front line is not that strong, but they did manage to win games against teams with 2 of the better front lines in the conference. Gates was a man for Cincy on Monday, but they still managed to come out on top. Dante Taylor is also only going to keep getting better; he has really been impressive his last few games.

Back to back 6 shot attempt performances by Monroe. There's not too many teams that Gtown will have a size advantage over but Marquette is one of 'em yet we still don't run any plays to get Monroe the ball in the post. We actually didn't turn the ball over too much (13) but playing zone vs Marquette is a bad idea. Would have been nice to be 3-0 in the BE with UCONN up next. Good game by Freeman though. For a fat boy he can slash to the hole.

Very pleased with UofL's victory last night @ Providence. We came out on fire, let them back in it, fell behind by as many as 8, trailed by 5 at the half, and then absolutely dominated the 2nd half.

Next up is a must win home game vs St.John's this Saturday before we host 'Nova for Big Monday. 3-1 is much better than 2-2 thru 4 games of the Big East slate.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

They did but he still spent way too much time on the perimeter. One thing I am impressed with is Vaughn. His game has come a long way and made some nice drives to the hole. Too bad he rolled his ankle and wasn't that effective down the stretch.

Agreed. GTown's offense goes through the high post starting with Monroe. He's a great passer and gives Thompson III many options, if they take away the high post, you can plop down low and let him go at it there.

With that being said, I think they stuck with the high post a little too long last night against Marquette. Doesn't help that Cubillon destroyed the Hoyas along the perimeter, but I would rather contain Hayward and Butler and make a guy like Cubillon beat me, just a better chance to win.

This team would be so much better if Sims was even serviceable. He's too bad fundamentally to even stay on the court w/o fouling.

I just want to see Monroe have some more post up chances. In college he's almost unstoppable going to his left.

Yeah, but at some point you have to locate the shooter. The kid was 6-6 from 3 so at some point you'd like to get a hand up. I thought we stuck with the 2-3 too long but it's not too bad because Jason is great at playing the passing lanes and it protects us from foul trouble.

We're gonna have to rebound well vs UCONN.

The Hoyas defense on Cubillion last night was terrible just absolutly terrible.

They definitely stuck with the 2-3 for way too long which is a head-scratcher considering the Hoyas have great on-ball defenders man-to-man.

About Sims, it's sad that a 4-star recruit like him hasn't been able to figure it out yet. The knock on him coming out of HS was that he was a raw talent with very good measurables. Took a gamble and lost so far on him. Thankfully Vaughn has really stepped it up this year....

It would have been nice to still have Maclin but oh well. Sims can't even move well. His footwork is horrible. That being said he's gonna need to play a little vs UCONN.

Anyone know what's going on with the Hoyas recruiting wise. They look like they need some depth on this squad.

Nate Lubick is 6-9 grading a 95 as the #12 PF and #45 overall in the nation this year. He's more of a defensive player down low who will bang bodies and fight for rebounds. UCLA, Virginia, Michigan, and Duke are also vying for his services, but he's verbally committed to GTown

Markel Starks is 6-2 grading a 94 as the #12 PG and #65 overall in the nation. Starks is very quick and can knock down mid-range shots as well as the three ball. He's verbally committed to GTown but Virginia, Maryland, Wake Forest, VT, and Georgia Tech are looking for his services

Greg Echinique is transferring out of Rutgers. That is a gigantic blow to that program, him and Rosario were their two biggest recruits in ages, maybe ever.
