    Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

NC State appears to be a possible front runner for Amile Jefferson. He is going to be attending the UNC/NCSU game today on an official visit and has a lot of his family here for the weekend as well.

That would be the best recruiting class for NCSU since 1971.

Gary Harris is taking his official visit this weekend at Michigan State. It's his last visit for any college before he makes his decision.

Mullens scored 7-8 points with 4-5 rebounds for OSU. While he didn't live up to his billing, he was a solid role player.

Interesting. I looked at Rivals Top 5 for the last few years.

            2010:
            1. Josh Selby
            2. Harrison Barnes
            3. Enes Kanter
            4. Kyrie Irving
            5. Jared Sullinger

            2009
            1. John Wall
            2. Demarcus Cousins
            3. Derrick Favors
            4. Avery Bradley
            5. John Henson

            2008
            1. B.J. Mullens
            2. Jrue Holiday
            3. Demar Derozan
            4. Brandon Jennings
            5. Scotty Hopson

            2007
            1. Michael Beasley
            2. Eric Gordon

            4. O.J. Mayo
            5. Kyle Singler
Haha, this wasn't a particularly good rebuttal.

Not good for Purdue, IMO. I'm still holding out hope, though.
            NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
            NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
            MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
            NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)

Not good for Purdue, IMO. I'm still holding out hope, though.

MSU is a best fit for Harris simply because of the Log Jam at the position for SG at other programs.

                1. UK's already got Archie Goodwin, and is among the leaders for Shabazz which is counting on playing a gaurd position.

                2. IU is a few pieces away from making a deep run in the next few years, though Cody Zeller is apparently in Harris's ear

                3. Purdue is still reeling in a strange way from 2-yr Painter saga which has singlehandidly put their program on a mysterious pause. Even if this season goes healthy, he'll be back which. It just makes their offensive philosophy and future cloudy, much less easy to explain to 5star recruits who want know what to expect.

                4. The NBA's lockout and proposal to go to a 2 year wait, making 1&dones impossible means that the current Freshman class could be around next year. Harris probably wants to start immediately for a 2 year run wherever he goes. This alone should take UK out of the running

On Avery Bradley=agreed. I was miffed that ESPN placed him at #1 in their '09 final rankings which was a fatal blow to ESPN's credibility. Avery ahead of John Wall? Derrick Favors and Cousins too? Then again Rivals placed Selby ahead of Kyrie Irving and Brandon Knight at the PG

Harris has more than just Cody Zeller in his ear to come to IU. The 2012 class have been recruiting Harris to come to IU since they have committed along with current freshman Austin Etherington. Harris knows he is wanted at IU.

The biggest problem I see for IU getting Harris is right now IU is oversigned by 1 for the class of 2012 without Harris and Big Ten rules state that you can only oversign by 1. So, a commitment from Harris means one of the current 5 guys committed to IU can't sign during the November signing period. Then in the spring IU will have to get a open scholarship to allow that player to sign in the spring. I know IU will make room for Harris and attrition happens every year with transfers and whatnot, but I'm not a big fan of having to expect a player to leave the program to make room for another player no matter how talented that player is.

I'm thinking Harris is MSU bound.

                      Where have the PG's gone?

This is the weakest PG class I can remember. It has gotten progressively worse since '10. Kyle Anderson/ and Purvis are the elite guards? Really? If I hear another Anderson/Magic Johnson comparison, I'm gonna puke.

On the other hand, it is SG heavy, add to that, most elite SF's now have handles and want to go in as a SG . . . i.e Shabazz Mohamed.

It seems like Harris is headed to MSU, but Purdue is the best school in the universe so he should take that into consideration.

4* PG Tyrone Wallace chooses Cal over CU. Disappointing but Pac-12 is getting some quality recruits.

I think Gary Harris is going to Purdue. His parents are both alum there, and his mom was an AA in BBall @ Purdue too.

Didn't guaruntee that UK would get Jabari Parker. UK's Final Four delyed Cal's recruiting a bit, especially for the '13 class, but I think UK will get Julius Randle and the Harrison Twins most likely. But Teague, Terrence Jones, and Kyle Wiljer are examples that Head starts mean nothing against Calipari. At one time, Teague was considered so automatic for Pitino that other schools gave up. Jones was thought to have such deep NW ties that everyone had given up recruiting him. Wiljer was thought to be a near lock for Gonzaga, with Oregon trailing. Dukes hope is that Randle and the Harrison twins will consume Cal's attention, but once he gets the positive Vibe and hands them off to Asst. Orlando Antiqua to correspond with, he'll make his pitch to Parker which will make things interesting.

Interesting Battle would be Calipari vs. Coach K vs. R.Williams heads up recruiting going 100% at the same recruit.

TP was supposed to decide this week, but now he's saying he won't commit during the early signing period. Great.

I'm glad we at least got Sheed so this class won't be a total failure.

Ya he had Fresno State at a distant 3rd. Think we could have had a better chance had if our new coach had been here longer. Got a late start. Sucks to see guys close to Fresno go elsewhere.
