Purdue gets Ronnie Johnson, now over-signed by 1 for 2012 and 2013. First Scout re-rankings puts Johnson in as a top 100 and a 4*, giving Purdue 2 4* and 2 3* for 2012. That's around a top 25 class, but probably not what we were hoping for when these guys started signing. However, Jay Simpson has been doing a lot better in AAU I hear and may hop back into the top 100 at some point.

Jay Simpson I'm not overly impressed by, has a reputation of being lazy and I've heard he has some grade issues to.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread
I think his laziness might have been related to asthma problems that he's made a lot of progress on coping with. I haven't heard anything about grades.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread
Yeah, Evan Daniels said today that Purvis decommitted and has a short list of teams to look at. Duke, NC State, Louisville, Kentucky.
I read an interesting stat this morning.. Who was the last PG that Rick Pitino was coaching when they went to the NBA? Billy Donovan in 1987...PSN: OldStyle24Comment

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread
Not 100% sure on this but it looks like NC State got a commitment from 5 star SG Torian Graham.
It's official now. So thats Torian Graham and Tyler Lewis for 2012. I think Rodney Purvis will join as well.Last edited by Marino; 05-16-2011, 06:25 PM.Comment

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread
Looks like Beilein did it again, landed Glenn Robinson III and Nick Stauskas when they were still relatively unknown and lowly rated, and now they're both 4-star top 100 players in Rivals' rankings (GR III at 50, Stauskas at 89). Just hope Beilein can recover from the loss of Morris to keep things together next year.Comment

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread
I saw it too. I don't think they get Purvis when they already have Lewis coming in, especially with a new coach. Purvis is a super talent and he knows it, I don't think he's going to go to a team that's never going to be better than 3rd in the conference.Comment

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread
Having reeled in a monster recruiting class for 2011, St. John’s coach Steve Lavin is now stockpiling big talent for 2012.
Ricardo Gathers, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound power forward from Laplace (La.) Riverside ranked No. 12 at his position by Rivals, has verbally committed to the Johnnies over LSU, Texas, Syracuse and Arizona.
“I picked St. John’s because of the coaching staff and I liked the way Coach Lavin communicated with me throughout the process,” Gathers told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi, who broke the news. “A year ago he was recruiting me and I didn’t think much of it, until I saw how they played on television and how much success they were having.
“I can’t wait to play in New York. Watching the movie ‘He Got Game’ got me really excited about playing there.”
The Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, Gathers averaged 20.7 points, 16.2 rebounds, 3.9 blocks, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals during the 2010-11 season.
