Sven I know this is a 2012 recruiting thread but I saw you guys picked up a commitment from a 2011 prospect Max Biefeldt, I think he will be good for you guys, would probably benefit him to redshirt next year but I think he can be one of those players in a few years that is just a complete pain in the butt to the rest of the conference, should be a solid role player for you guys.

Not a great athlete, doesn't have the best size (shorter than hes listed), but he is a fierce competitor and he can score and he isn't afraid to get down low and rebound.

Would have loved to see him at Illinois but we ran out of sholarships with Sam Maniscalco transferring in to us about a month ago from Bradley (not official yet still but he has the last open scholly for us so Max would have had to walk on).

Another potential plus for you guys, his family is loaded, his grandparents donate a lot to UI so I'd have to imagine if Max has a good run at UM they'll be sending some of that cash your way in the future.
Well I'm hoping he can be another diamond in the rough type player. But I'm not holding my breathe. My brother lives in Peoria and has seen him play a few times. He was quite happy when Max committed to us. My brothers description was "the same lack of skill as Brian Randle with none of the athletic ability". The one thing that gives me hope is that Max completely dominated Egwu and Jay Simpson in head to head match ups.

I don't see that at all, Randle was an athlete and not much of a basketball player (so I get where hes coming from, but Max is a basketball player even though he hasn't got much athleticisim).

Max isn't very athletic but he is about as fundamentally sound as they come, he can score and has a nose for rebounds.

He may not do much early in his career but by his junior year I think he can be a solid contributor, big effort guy and looking at him he doesn't strike you as a guy who would be very talented out there but once the game is underway he just continues to impress.

The comparison was mostly just because they both went to PND and both were unimpressive looking to him. Not because they are actually similar players.

DeAndre Daniels set to visit Duke on April 15th. The longer this goes, the more I like Duke's chances. He's had all this time to commit to KU and hasn't.

Nope, reaffirmed his commitment. Pitino and Mama Purvis have a great relationship.

Yeah, Evan Daniels said today that Purvis decommitted and has a short list of teams to look at. Duke, NC State, Louisville, Kentucky.

I read an interesting stat this morning.. Who was the last PG that Rick Pitino was coaching when they went to the NBA? Billy Donovan in 1987...

he isn't going to NC State even if Mark Gottfried has been trying to poach him this entire time.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Except AI actually played pg where as Delk was experimented there but it didn't work out after a few games. Plus AI had very very good handles. He was just a selfish player.

                                Delk was a 2.

But the reason I commented, and I know this is off topic, but Allen Iverson is the most amazing person I've ever seen play basketball in person. That guy was SO SMALL compared to the rest of the NBA players. Yet he was the scoring leader, had alley oops thrown to him, went into the paint and took a beating and still scored. That guy was an incredible basketball player.

                                Sorry, now back to recruiting.
