Re: 2014 Recruiting Thread
It does make me wonder if he is going to start recruiting them two a lot harder though now that Mudiay has gone elsewhere.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Recruiting Thread
Not really shocked by Mudiay decison after hearing his reasoning. The fact that he gets to play with his brother at his hometown school makes sense. Besides, I maintain fans care way more about tradition than this millennial generation....which explains why someone who looked born to play PG for John Calipari at Kentucky can make a decision to play at a non-traditional power."He who controlleths the backboard, controlleths the game." - Adolph RuppComment

Illinois has landed Leron BlackComment

Re: 2014 Recruiting Thread
Yep. Heh, the kid who for the longest time wanted to stay close to home (to the point where many thought even Michigan might be too far) is now going 2500 miles away to play for the school that hired his HS coach.
I love basketball recruiting so much. It's just so wholesome and above board. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Inspiring, really.Comment

Re: 2014 Recruiting Thread
It's been pretty clear that the longer these recruitments go the worse our chances get. I really don't think we have that great a shot at Booker or Blackmon either. MAYBE Chatman if Arizona takes a higher ranked target over him but I see Blackmon at UK and Booker wearing a very ugly green and white jersey.
Hopefully we can land one of the stretch 4's who have surfaced as targets lately.Comment

Re: 2014 Recruiting Thread
4 star PG Quentin Snyder from Louisville, KY moved his visit to Illinois up from the end of September to this weekend.
Hope Groce can lock him up, would be huge as PG is a big need for this team going forward, he's friends with Leron Black who committed last weekend and also friends with Aaron Cosby who transferred to Illinois from Seton Hall this Summer.
He is supposed to have really enjoyed his visit to UCLA but if distance/the ability for his family to easily see him play are really what he wants like it seems then Champaign, IL is a much shorter trip (although also a much less exciting place unless corn fields are your thing).Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: 2014 Recruiting Thread
4 star PF Jaylen Johnson committed to Louisville this morning.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: 2014 Recruiting Thread
So happy he's finally off the board.
Now Michigan fans can stop constantly asking why we haven't offered him. It's extremely annoying considering the answer is so obvious. It's not because he's a bad player. Clearly his offer list shows lots of good coaches wanted him. Michigan didn't offer because he was just a poor fit for what they want to do at the 4.
Louisville or Michigan State were both MUCH better choices for him so I think this worked out as well as it possibly could have for Michigan.
Congrats to Johnson and to Louisville on a nice pick up.Comment
