Through the 1st 2 rounds. I'm waiting to hear back from THurley, I forgot to PM earlier but I have a list from Storm. So when I hear back I will update the post, if there are any conferences left on your original Top 10 list; I will give you one of those conferences before I ask you for another list. Does that sound good with everyone? I think the draft is moving along great.

Re: OS Mock Selection Committee
I'm good with mine. So, what's the plan on what kind of data we are going to compile and what's the date where we want to have all the data dispersed to everyone? I count 11 conferences that wrap up the regular season tomorrow (Saturday), 2 more Sunday, mainly smaller conferences. Are we going to compile all the data for the whole conference? Or wait for the conference tournaments to wrap up? Some of the smaller conferences have championship games next weekend when the big schools are just finishing their regular seasons. So those ones, we could wait and just profile the champion, and then we have time to go more in-depth with the major conferences where there will be multiple selections. Or, we play it safe and profile everyone during the week? The W/L record, home/away/neutral is easy. SOS we'd have to just agree on whose to use, but that's obviously important data. Preferably one that ranks OOC SOS as well would be data that I like to look at. I saw phenom mentions big wins, big losses. I don't disagree with that info being included, but there's some opinion involved in that, not that I'm opposed. There's RPI, individual and conference RPI and then BPI available too if we want to use that.Comment

By March 9th: Have a profile on any team in your conference that you think can make the NCAA tournament. We know what that means for bigger conferences but for smaller conferences, make sure we have at least a profile of the regular season champion. For a conference where an auto bid has already been determined by that point; please have a profile for the auto bid and the regular season champ if they are different. This is important because when we start voting teams in; any regular season champ is automatically on our under consideration list.
I understand what you are saying about big wins and losses. So for each team profile, organize wins and losses by RPI,BPI, or whatever metric you use for now. I don't care which one, committee members can decide which ones they like best. However when you organize, don't put in the actual RPI # for the team they beat or lost to because that number will fluctuate throughout the week. For example: If Arizona State RPI was 49 today, it could change either way tomorrow based on other team results; so it is too much work to continually update each day. We can revisit this later when we see how everything looks.
I'm going to create a template in Excel by Monday that people can use. I understand that trying to organize a lot of information can be cumbersome; so if I create a template it would help organize information easier and create more uniformity that would help when we compare teams.
I think Excel would be a good way to organize information for all of us. If anyone has other ideas on this, please share. I think creating a group chat somewhere would be beneficial. So people can have a discussion with others on at larges, seeding, etc in a quicker and more instantaneous manner. In the scenario that during Championship Week we get short on time with seeding or selecting at larges; this could help with voting and make the process quicker. I don't know if AIM or something like google hangouts could work for that.
One last thought I have for now is to create a gmail account for each committee member: os_selectionmember1 for example, etc. So we could all send group emails with attachments for whatever is needed on a particular day. My other reason for this is during voting, I think it's better to keep each person anonymous while voting to ensure people feel comfortable.
Any thoughts are welcomed."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

I'm happy with my conferences, seems good to me. But let me make sure I get this right. Basically I go through the teams and select the at-larges and then a group for under consideration?INACTIVEComment

Re: OS Mock Selection Committee
If anyone else is concerned about remaining anonymous, then some e-mail addresses is good, but just speaking for myself, I'm not concerned with anyone knowing how I vote, especially since I assume you would know which e-mail belongs to who, so it's not all that anonymous probably, but either way, I am cool with anyone and everyone knowing how I vote on things.
I have AIM although I can't remember the last time I used it. I have no idea how the google thing works, I have no account of any kind with google, but I imagine I could figure out how if need be.Comment

Re: OS Mock Selection Committee
You have your conferences. What you do is give a profile of any team you think has a shot to make the tournament. So for example, I'm doing the Missouri Valley and Big Sky (unfortunate that I didn't get a major conference, or a conference with some potential at-large bids, but best leave that to those who have the week). I would make profiles for Wichita State, Indiana State, Missouri State, and perhaps Northern Iowa, and Illinois State. I don't think the Big Sky will get more than 1 team--the eventual conference winner, but I'll make profiles on Northern Colorado, Weber State, and North Dakota.Comment

Here's my interpretation, but phenom will have to clarify:

Re: OS Mock Selection Committee
Sorry for not responding sooner, I worked all day and had been feeling under the weather so I went to sleep when I got home.
Regarding the profiles: Essentially the point is to create profiles on teams that could either get into the tournament as an at large or through their conference automatic bid. The profiles help in two ways, 1. Evaluate whether a team is good enough to make it regardless of an automatic bid and 2. Evaluate where they stand among teams that will be in the tournament (seeding). The 2nd part is just as important as the 1st because remember we will need to evaluate whether we think the Big Sky champ is a 13 or 14 seed just like we need to think whether Syracuse or Kansas is a 1 seed for example.
If you were wondering what teams you need to do profiles, it's essentially like THurley said. In THurley case, he will know who is left for the MVC auto-bid by the 9th because that's when their tournament ends. He will at a minimum need to submit a profile on the regular season champ (Wichita State) and the post-season champ (TBD). His job is to also look through the teams in that conference and see if anyone deserves to be in the at large conversations, odds are besides Wichita State... probably not.
In your case with the Ivy League, an interesting scenario would be if Yale beats Harvard and wins the Ivy League. Do we need to consider Harvard at 25-5 for an at large bid? We would want you to help us answer that.
For anyone that was wondering, if you have a small conference and their conference tournament doesn't start or end until after the 9th; please at a minimum submit a profile on the regular season champ for reasons stated before."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

Re: OS Mock Selection Committee
I'm taking 2 posts to respond to all comments so everything doesn't look like a huge post.
In terms of anonymous voting: The reason I brought it up was to see if anyone was uncomfortable. I don't care if you want to make your vote public on whatever the day's issue is. The only thing I ask is that you pm or email your ballot and don't reveal your ballot to anyone until after the deadline. I don't want other people using your ballot as a template for their ballot. For example: If someone posted a ballot on the forum before the deadline. I could look at their ballot as a template for mine and then submit it. I respect everybody opinion on here, so I want you to rank teams based on your opinion and not somebody else. I think there is a better way for me to say that but I'm drawing a blank.
I'm going to create a gmail account for everyone here so that nobody needs to use their personal email for this. The other reason is for our initial ballot on March 9th, I want everybody to use excel because it will make it easier for me to count totals for teams. If somebody doesn't have excel then they can use the spreadsheet option in gmail; which is very easy for me to convert back and forth between excel. If anybody has an issue with this, please don't hesitate to let me know.
As a reminder, the initial ballot works like this:
On one side, you write in all the teams you believe should be in the tournament regardless of how they do during Championship week ( Maximum of 36 teams here)
On the other side, you write in all teams you believe should be under consideration for the tournament but you haven't made your final decision on them. ( There is no maximum here, an example of a team like this could be Nebraska, Baylor, etc).
I will create a template in excel with 2 columns for this."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

Re: OS Mock Selection Committee
With help from Tovarich, I worked on a template that I think can help. I'm having issues attaching it right now.
Edit: I was able to share it as public in google docs, so here is what we put together. Any feedback would be great. You don't have to put in RPI, BPI and Ken-Pom; if you only put one in we want to know which one it was.
