This is crazy whats going on, i'm sure many knew money was being passed around here and there but to this level wow. I really want to see how many others were caught up in this. Vitale sounded hurt and also brought up players reclassifying.

Dick Vitale is frustrated and disgusted that college basketball has a scandal such as the one at Louisville.

That's where the discussion began on the off topic thread went for 4 pages if anyone needs to be brought up to speed.

To go off of what I said there, I expect Louisville to fire Pitino and Jurich if for nothing else to save themselves as repeat offenders.

I expect there to be many more people implicated as they've only gotten Adidas schools so far and I can't see why the FBI investigation would stop at what it has.

I know some people are very concerned about the sport but I think this has the chance to ultimately be good for the long term picture of the sport.

It may result in much needed changes in the rules governing the sport to something that the NCAA could enforce better.

People are concerned about the coaches but there will always be players looking to play the sport. So this won't lead to the end of what ultimately drives the sport... the players.
(Off topic) - the more the game of basketball runs it's coarse the more LaVar looks like a genius. He has Just done and have said the most chaotic things, but basketball has lined up perfectly for what he has done and said... One of those things is The youngest son having a shoe and playing college basketball.. I see a serious rule change regarding both the NCAA and NBA. Maybe NBA goes back to 18 Yo a, and maybe the NCAA lets up on student athletes earning commercial pay...

All in all, I've seen this coming. Maybe not as big as this, but I always believed in the speculation that student athletes were receiving money from somewhere. The NCAA has some serious reforming to do. They patronized a young athlete for making YouTube videos, but yet Louisville is offering up 100k to recruits, Memphis has cheated on tests for their players and UNLV signed a recruit that never even took an S.A.T.. scandal written all over their company..

Surprised no one has posted this yet in here, but as expected Louisville is moving forward to fire Pitino with cause, thus trying to avoid being on the hook for $44M in remaining Pitino money.

They should fire Pitino for being stupid and arrogant.

              They have fired Pitino.

Vince Tyra is the acting AD.

A lot of scuttlebutt going around that there is a more than a slight chance that Tom Jurich may somehow survive this. The Board of Trustees is due to meet on October 18th, unless they schedule a meeting sooner, to vote whether to change Jurich's administrative leave to termination or remove him from leave and back to active athletic director, although with tighter restrictions than he had under Ramsey.

I honestly don't believe he survives this, but he is obtaining a lot of support from coaches, fans, fellow workers, and supporters.

Local standout David Johnson de-committed yesterday. UofL currently has ZERO recruits for basketball.

This university, not just the athletics dept (basketball) is a mess right now.

                The Official "FBI Investigation" Thread

According to multiple reports 98% of the money from the Adidas deal went directly to Pitino. In 2015/2016 Pitino received $1.5M while the athletic department only received $25K.

And Jurich said it was all earmarked for the student athletes. No wonder Jurich did this deal without consulting the board/University.

                Wow! Simply wow!

Now we know where the $100K came from that Pitino gave to Bowen.

And he has the balls to file a breach of contract.

Dear Pitino and Jurich.....**** you both!

EDIT: This is prior to the 10yr $160M deal they just agreed to.

So apparently Pitino passed a polygraph administered to see if he had knowledge of pay for play scandal.

                  And the saga continues.....sigh

Yeah I'll be shocked if they reinstate him. I appreciate all he's done and after reading various reports and letters I'm not sure how I feel about this, but at the end of the day we need to just move forward.

I just hope his departure doesn't trickle down to coaches leaving, primarily Dan McDonnell

UofL has officially terminated Tom Jurich with cause. Vote 10-3.

Legal battles are upcoming obviously between UofL and Jurich and Pitino.

As a fan I'm glad there is a conclusion to this ordeal and hope that starting tomorrow we can all start taking steps towards what is next. Support the kids, support the University as now is the time when they need us fanatics the most.

So the Indictment papers show Pitino is coach 2 and not only knew about the scheme but was also directly involved in it.

I could careless if he knew or didn't know. I posted that just sharing information at the time and made the comment that the saga continues.

Bottom line is he's gone, which is what needed to happen. So, as a fan I'm moving on and looking forward to seeing how we play in our regular season opener this Sunday vs George Mason.
