On top of same game...what I mean is animation based. If guys can't see they're playing the same game that's on them. But I realize the only way to change that is to tear up the inside. I'm not asking for or expecting that. But I do realize when I'm driving a car with a new exterior but the same engine.

I could compile game clips from 2k14/15 and the only way you would be able to tell the difference is by lighting. If I added a filter nobody would know what's 14/15. I could do the same for 11-14 on last gen lol. I'm not knocking 2k by any means. But to say the game has made that many significant improvements to it's base isn't true.Just my opinion.

It's like Super Mario 1-3 thru World thru 64 lol. The mechanics of jumping on top of an enemy still remains. 2k has built a great core but at the same time it gets stale when guys can use the same exploits year in and year out. Haven't played a 2k yet where 3s & dunks weren't overpowered. I can expect the same next year and I won't be disappointed because it's been like that since day 1.
Dude I understand ur fight....but we all have to sit back and remember that its a VIDEOGAME. There will always be exploits and people finding ways to "cheese"...it will never be perfect and If that's what your expecting you will be greatly disappointed.... I used to be on the "it has to be perfect " tip too...believe me.

ANYHOW looks like gameplay clips will be poppin up around twitter this evening from the sounds of things.

IMO the only time 2k released two games that were relatively close was 2k13- 2k14 last gen...and even then, the improvements made in 2k14 made it a great game.....which is why some people still call it the best gameplay we've had overall.

That being said, it's still basketball. If your expecting 2k to destroy and rebuild every year you might die holding your breath.
I thought 2K14 last gen was definately a great game, my favourite on old gen.

I would just like to see an in-depth write up blog about the game-play and one about the presentation for NBA2K16. I don't care about my team/my park, Pro Am,ect or any kind of 2K mini games features

You can't cheese playing Space Invaders. You either good or not.

The magic word is balance. In theory, for every offensive animation or AI code they need to make a counter on D. They don't. So people can zig zag with the ball and defenders can't do ish about it.

Balancing is a big issue during game developer studies, yet it's something not only 2k leaves on the track.

Re: 2K16 Marketing Affect On You

The thing about Super Mario is it isn't a multiplayer game. If it was Mario Kart then you'd certainly see the game change & fix what needs to be addressed instead of masking it's problems with more characters and levels. If banana peels were op and rockets didn't track they would patch it lol.

If you want another reference look at MKX. Or any fighting game or FPS. Once the game comes out they patch/nerf anything that's "OP" and buff what isn't as effective as it it should be. They balance weapons and gadgets. They balance target acquisition and etc. 2k has yet to address zig zaging or sliding on defense or me pressing steal but going for a block thru a predetermined animation sequence.

Adding actually collision detection isn't hard. I don't want them to break the mold or the foundation they have established. I would like them to actually polish what they have instead of adding additional animations on top of what we already have little control over.

Don't get it twisted tho. I like 2K. I enjoy the game to an extent. But when you play online and join a random chat party weekly and different guys are ALWAYS talking about issues you thought only you noticed then these things should be addressed. Especially glitches and exploits. Few games just let consumers exploit the game without any repercussions. Few games just let errors run wild. I used to make fighting games & rpgs. I know stuff is hard. But when the in game park chat hasn't worked all year. Its like...ok so you'll patch out the vc glitch but give no word of when this will be fixed if ever...?

I'm not asking for perfection. I'm asking for product consistency. If you fix VC then fix the game chat lol. I expect there to be exploits and glitches but I also expect things to be added to future installments that prevent certain things. Or consequences for players making 7'2 PGs. Zig zags can be stopped with foot planting or possession fatigue. Doesn't matter how cuz this thread isn't about that so I won't go there to that extent.

Bottom line...I like 2K a lot. But there's more than 1 reason they don't market like they used to and it's not just because there's no competition or they have new ways to gather sales data.

This times 100. All I care about is the gameplay and presentation. Is the halftime show back?, how responsive are the defensive controls etc. Has the lag in the block button been addressed? Modes etc. will sell the game but gameplay will be how the game is measured.

All I know about gameplay is that there are more post animations, and the shot meter has been tweaked smh. The game is probably at the warehouse being pressed and manufactured now.

Re: 2K16 Marketing Affect On You

Let me qualify this post by saying: In the end, the current-year's product is the true marketing tool for the next year for me.

With that being said I have a few thoughts:

                  1. Today's advertising world is a lot different than the one I started gaming in all those years ago. Change will happen to attract younger people.
                  2. 2K should be able to use multiple marketing strategies. Developer Diaries, In-depth discussions with dev participation and feature write-ups will do a lot to keep old-school consumers like me hyped.
                  3. 2K16's marketing expectations are different than prior years. (I'll explain in my response to Boiler below).

Now to respond to a couple colleagues:

There are multiple departments that work on this game, like gameplay, art, story, rosters, MyTeam, MyLEAGUE, MyGM (maybe but probably the same department as MyLEAGUE), etc. The gameplay department doesn't have anything to do with getting Steph Curry's mouthguard or a Spike Lee story.
This year, the various teams combined their assets and resources, so as a general rule, what you write is spot-on, this year it is different. These elements are also feature elements in this year's title so them being tied together is a construct of 2k featuring these elements together.

The mouth-guard is dog-whistle for every 2k consumer demanding detail. By emphasizing it, 2k is feeding red meat to these consumers saying: we pay attention to the details so much, look at this. This is true regardless of what other traits define you as a gamer.

Same with the Spike Lee hire. The overall appeal to me is how many individual dog-whistles the marketing team hits that I identify with. It really is that simple and that is how they are all tied together.

This year is different for my expectations because this is the first cycle that all the Simnation hires had a full cycle under their control. Just as I expect game-play, atmosphere, animations and mechanics to be fully under their influence, I expect marketing to be more under their influence.

Simballer, Leftos, Da_Czar and the rest who either come from our community or been a part of our community for a long time know what we expect. They should have convinced the suits and bean-counters that marketing which appeals to us was needed.

Leftos followed up the wonderful in-depth write-up with a pod-cast. He even complained that because of the marketing restrictions, he was really constrained from going further in-depth. This was a wonderful opportunity for the marketers of 2K to reach into our community which was missed.

2K marketing needs a Simnation representative who fights for and advocates for marketing which appeals to us. Relying on the actual release to save the day (marketing-wise) is a dangerous thing.

We can always go back to the good old days where there were very few exploits in basketball games.

So 2k is the only game with exploits now....then fighting games of all genres are used as an example.....MKX in particular. There hasn't been a buff or a nerf yet that can save you from an expert Full Auto Jackie spammer
