Even so? What do you all expect? It's still a video game at the end of the day. Why is there an entire thread on one player. Many players in this game from superstar to bench warmers do not play as themselves ALL the time. My post was about playing against him as well in the first part.

Re: Stephen Curry in NBA 2K
LOL, you're the one who accused people of wanting to "use the Warriors and chuck." At least own it, even if you're wrong.
There's an entire thread on one player because:
1- He's the reigning MVP
2- His team is having by far the best season in the NBA
3- His style of play is extremely unique
4- Not playing like himself makes him much less dangerous, easier to guard, and not as much fun to play againstComment

Exactly. And not watered down players because their engine/programming can't properly replicate a player.Last edited by MadManCometh; 12-20-2015, 09:30 PM.Comment

Re: Stephen Curry in NBA 2K
With the current Curry you don't really feel like he's a huge threat.
That's not how it is in real life. With real life curry, once he's past half court and he's open, you're screwed.
BTW, one of the more amazing statistics: Curry shot 91% on left corner 3s during the playoffs last year. 10/11. Shot 65% there during regular season.
You know, sport analysts and hall of famers called him Stephortless and his 3pt shot like a layup for a reason.
With the current scale, if the top end ends up being 50% chance for 99 3pt, that's probably not gonna be enough. Even with a hot hand, I highly doubt you can replicate Curry's outstanding feats.
And let me remind you that most of his shots are either contested/well contested/step backs/faders. From 3pt range.
If Curry gains more confidence next year, he might try for half court shots. He's not half bad at it, mind you.

I think it's time 2K revamp their stats system. The limits are starting to show.
Polish a turd, it's still a turd.Comment

Re: Stephen Curry in NBA 2K
I'd have a hard time watching this in a video game.... I think most would....

Even with all this said.... Contested shot should miss about 95%.... Maybe I'll lower it to 80%. But you got players like Dirk... Who hit these all day long.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Stephen Curry in NBA 2K
I've only read a couple pages so it may have been said already, but I don't know if it's necessarily the attributes they need to fix but the tendencies.
For the first time this year I played vs the Warriors and no matter what I did I couldn't tempt curry into shooting. I was beating them by 16 so I started leaving Curry open and he still wouldn't shoot the 3. He had 1 3 point shot attempt all game and that was with using Michigan's sliders where the 3pt tendency is at 90.
That's just my 2 cents and where my frustration sets in. Players can make shots no matter what their attribute is, but they can't make or miss the shots if they aren't even taking them. Lillard had 11 3pt attempts versus me so seeing curry only have 1 was.....yea I was shocked lol.

Stephen Curry in NBA 2K
I honestly have NO idea what you're talking about.
You just keep making random posts about something I said and probably never even read my original post, which is 2K should balance the game and filter what they take in from the forums.
I also said, as much as some of you want Curry to do this or that, it was NEVER the big priority amongst people on this forum, nor was it the biggest of complaints before the 4th patch.
All this other stuff im not even sure what you're arguing because im not even on that page.
Sorry was away from the post for a few days. But wanted to respond.
I don't think I'm making "random" posts. I'm responding to how quick it was suggested that input in this very thread should be ignored when the user had legitimate points. It was disregarded and suggested that 2K should largely ignore it as well when it very clearly pointed out ways that Curry isn't as sim as he could be. Of course 2K should and already do filter input from the forums, but I don't think this thread warranted the immediate pounding of that soap box, and I took issue with the suggestion that valid objective points raised will somehow ruin the game and thus discussion about that should be dismissed. I also took issue that these observations carry less weight because they weren't introduced in the beginning and that posters who note issues with how the MVP plays now are somehow trying to complain for its own sake. Essentially they're unflattering portrayals focusing on motivations rather than content, and in my opinion that doesn't make for great discussion. Yes there are posters who are problematic and let's say sketchy, but I didn't see that here.
I guess all I'm saying is can we be a little slower in pulling the trigger on these portrayals when legitimate points are raised? I just think we should focus on the objective arguments rather than our fears of where they're coming from or how they might hurt the game however true because 2K might somehow not be able to implement them with nuance.
If anything, 2K should filter out much of the subjective input that contradicts how real NBA basketball is played, which they seem to cave into from time to time that render the game less sim. And if having a player play like he should would unbalance the game (which I think is a pretty weak argument from a sim perspective), it means the overall system needs work, not that the input should be ignored. So regardless of whether or not it's possible to balance that properly currently, the input is still valuable and I don't think it should be dismissed for that or other reasons.
That said, Curry has definitely been playing better after patch 3. I can choose to pull up from 35 with some regularity if open, and the step backs work pretty well though not as quick or with as much separation as he's able to do it in real life.Last edited by Sundown; 12-27-2015, 12:12 PM.Comment

Re: Stephen Curry in NBA 2K
Right, and that's the problem, too much iso. Real life Curry shoots a majority of his threes coming off screens, either out of the PnR or offball. Have you ever seen AI Curry running off a screen for a catch and shoot on the default rosters?NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:

Re: Stephen Curry in NBA 2K
Play Type 1- 50%
Play Type 2- 50%
Or:
Play Type 1- 33%
Play Type 2- 33%
Play Type 3- 33%
etc.
But maybe sometimes we want to do this
Play Type 1- 80%
Play Type 2- 20%
That'd be nice if we could do that, I'd imagine.Comment
