Just got home from work and checking it for the first time. I'm watching cpu vs cpu Celtics against Pacers. Immediately to my untrained eye it looks better and is more fluid. Isaiah Thomas is beastly. I see the CPU doesn't hesitate to shoot that 3 ball. Looks good very early.

Yeah i had to put the lateral quickness up to 100 for users. I was getting beat way too much by guys who shouldn't be running past be that often.

OMG still with the overhead passing? Perimter passing was one thing NBA Live did so much better than the 2k games. The overhead passing animation is so slow in 2k games and allows defenses to recover.

Is it user error or Are the Sixers just that bad of a free throw shooting team? I've had a lot of airballs & straight glass shots..

Third worst team FT% in the league last year but it's also probably just adjustment to the new shooting mechanics. You'll get it eventually it's just the first day after all.

I've been pretty solid on FT. just gotta make sure you are pulling straight now. If that gives you issues, using the buttons for ft is an easy alternative.

                      Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

Ive only played 2 games so far, but impressed with the gameplay. Love the new shot stick.

Just overall very impressed gameplay, Id say best gameplay out of the box of any game youve ever made.

Things that so far that upset me besides sim stats in MyLeague being wrong once again this yr.

Also had hopes of being able to take players from the Aussie team and add them to FA pool, and you cant. I had hopes of putting Ryan Broekhoff in the FA pool, so I could use him. Ive watched this kid grow up from a Freshmen at Valpo, thru his senior season. Im hoping a NBA team takes notice as signs him, which will solve this issue for me.

                        Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

                        I'll post mine, I guess.

I have only played MyCareer. Took awhile to decide (still deciding, tbh) but I made a 7'3 guy to play around with.

7'3 is still really strong. I think people who actually play like bigs and want to push everyone around in the paint will want to pick them. They are so strong. The speed matters, but not that much.

I am playing on HoF with my non-upgraded guy, and busting the cpu... getting 20 ppg 8 reb or so on beginning career games in 10 minute quarters. Maybe in... 13 min per game?

                        Things I like:

I like the new shot controls.
I like doing work a lot better than practice.
Much easier to make good passes; can feed a fronted offensive player (!!) finally. Still have stray passes with the stick where he just throws it right to a defended guy for no reason when someone is open.

                        Things I dislike:

Height still matters too much; I hope 2k makes it so that height over average negatively affects rebounding and shooting, cuz height does not = beast rebounder. I can see the shot blocking thing. Still have giant jumps even on my non-upgraded 7 3 guy. Not always tho, so it's better.

The text thing is funny, but lame cuz everyone says the same stuff.

                        Things I don't know about:

I haven't played online, so I dunno what's working or not. The one time I tried it crashed.

7'3 guys won't be as good IF you can go into their body and draw fouls all of the time, or if you can rip them easily like you could last year. But intuitively, I believe that most normally built team would be better off having their C be huge. I can't really see a downside to it atm, unless you're talking about the people who play their C like a SF and jump under the rim repeatedly

                        Issues:

The game seems to hang/crash a lot. A lot of weird glitches. It seems like it will probably require a patch very soon.

Yeah this game has some changes but it's basically the same exact game.

They should be sued for the blatant marketing lies. An entire video and articles written about the arenas... same deadbeat pa announcer for YEARS. "Omg i just got that" or whatever that phrase is when making a free throw.. same sound since 2k5?

The crowd is dead. It is lame. 2k sports gets away with their robbery again.

You know whats really pathetic..... the NBA CHAMPIONS ARENA IS AN AWFUL RENDITION OF REAL LIFE. the whole arena is designed wrong... the tunnels are way too wide and long. Just pathetic that they market how realistic this year to year port is and how great they are for recording sounds in arenas...ok I've heard maybe 4 new sounds.

                                Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

Better but still not there and sold it earlier today.

No question the art department had a rough year with some incredibly strange body types and an inexcusable difficulty in creating certain hairstyles. It has been an issue for a long time and other games have not had this big of a problem. I don't get it and the chia pet look needs to be addressed. The shooting styles are also inconsistent. Klay Thompson will look fantastic and the next guy you see has a shot style that looks nothing like his real life counterpart. Crowds also need to be addressed.

From a gameplay standpoint, rebounding feels fixed finally. Players also have a nice weight to them.

The main issues that are gamebreaking (for me) are the passing (still too floaty and too many overhead passses), not a big of enough and realistic difference in speed between players, and offensive ai on fast breaks is just all off. In regards to fast breaks, guys don't fill in the lanes and/or spot up realistically. It is just a cluster similar to middle school basketball.

Best 2K ever made but still some things that need to be addressed to make it worth investing hours into the game.
