Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Enjoying the game. Not trying to impulsively sing its praises too loudly or talk down about the negatives too greatly.
I like the player models this year. Brandon Jennings looks like he's been living on an 800-calories-per-day diet for two years, though. He -- and a few other nonspecific player models -- reminds me of that one Rob Lowe DirecTV commercial, with the "Rob Lowe with cable" struggling to open a jar of mayonnaise. All in all, the player models are the best yet, but still not quite there as far as having an equilibrium.
Input lag is still prevalent. This has irked me about 2K for quite some time, but over the years it's forced me to try to think two steps ahead of whatever on-court decision that's about to be made.
I still don't like how players from both teams tend to group and bunch up together. If you aren't running a play and are freelancing it, everything is a quagmire of crap. Maybe that's a 2K lesson, a way of passively letting the gamer know that they ought to be running a play, but still, I don't like how that part of the game flows.
I'm loving the new net physics this year. The swish sounds better than ever.
I thought this year we'd have better matchmaking in MyTeam online? I just took my trash team and played against a guy that was stacked with Curry, LeBron, Cousins, Klay Thompson, James Harden, etc. I also thought we were going to have stat tracking available in MyTeam. I can't seem to find it, so if anybody knows where that can be found, I'd definitely appreciate knowing where.
I love the simplicity of the main menu. Reminds me of the old 2Ks!
I'm building up to enjoying the new shot meter, but I didn't see any fault in the old one that was still relatively new in the series.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Omg this game is like 2k with a hint of nba live.
It reminds me of how Live looks in screens, but it actually plays, and moves how it looks in still shots.
The control responsiveness has taken this game to a new level and no more suction.
So far a solid 9/10 for me
Btw anybody saying this looks like 2k16 is crazy. The small details make the game look night and day.Youtube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1Y...YHoeFjXQJ2Ps4g

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Is it me or does it seem that the players have that NBA Live zombie stupid look by the eyes? Something about the eyes just don't look right, like their in this zombie lookin stare or something. Which is what live did for years and it made their models faces never looked right. But whatever, glass half full as usual.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Based on all day playing in both My Player and MyGM right now. Graphics, gameplay, presentation, I am giving the game a 9/10 rating.
Reason it did not get a 10/10 is player models, sim stats being off a bit, and a few other quirks. Some crazy bugs but nothing gamebreaking. Otherwise a very solid game, better than 2k16 in almost every way.
Really happy with the product 2K has put out this year. Amazing job.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
The graphics are good with the exception of the muscle definition of some of the player models, not all. Alot of the players look great, but it sticks out when some of the star players look like they're on a 1000 calorie diet.
Everything else about the graphics is on par.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
The input lag makes on-ball defense tough for online games. Wish i could lockdown guys a bit better. At least with the jumpshots and free throws you can adjust to the lag some. Maybe it will improve with tuning or patches? Hope so.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
The game definitely feels different from 2K16, in some aspects that's an advantage, in others, not really. I don't know about you, but I feel like 2k had the need to counterbalance previous year's lack of 3 pointers made with an overabundance of, yes, 3 pointers made. It feels to me like it's way too easy to hit a 3pt, even when contested and with a so-so IRL 3pt shooter. That is especially true for the HOF CPU, as they are just making it rain like crazy. Just try beating GSW or Cavs on HOF, it's damn near impossible.
Another thing that bothers me is on-ball defense. It' honestly so hard to guard a PG one on one, especially when trying to contest their layups, most of them just go in, even if I have my hands up and the shot meter is almost half green. The game also seems more arcadey to me, probably because of being more fast paced as opposed to 2K16.Last edited by pavko99; 09-17-2016, 02:34 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Im actually liking the game a lot, including the player models, they just seemed very skinny in 2k15 and 2k16.
There is one thing really bothering me though, presentation is great except for the crowd, not sure if its just me but there is a LOT of silence throughout the games.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
No, not you at all. I was playing lakers vs the cavs in staples with my wireless headphones and especially as the clock was winding down on some possessions it got deathly quiet. No transition music, no sounds, nothing. It's very awkwardComment

NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I've played about 10 12 min quarter games so far. Started on superstar abs have made a few slider changes, mostly removing cpu boosts with a few other small tweaks. I'm also playing with game speed at 47, absolute pro stick, and no shot meter.
I don't wanna get too excited just yet but man, this game just feels really, really good. I definitely feel a hint of Live sprinkled into the flow of the game and that's a good thing.
Control is outstanding. I was struggling early on but I took a step back and changed my approach. You have to attack methodically and take into account for each step. Extremely realistic and well done.
Pull up jumpers feel the best since 2k11.
Shooting around the hoop/attacking the basket feels rewarding yet very physical. Yet, I'm not forced into anything and able to avoid contact, or seek it using the pro stick.
The cpu and ai are the best of the series IMO. Those guards in Portland are lethal man and they attack you for 48 minutes! Westbrook is the same way.
But, I play using real basketball tactics as a sim gamer typically does. Some others may need to adjust their approach if they want to enjoy 2k17. I pray patches do not destroy the potential with this one.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
This games plays unlike any 2K in the past, they've removed most all the old cheese/handicaps for both cpu and user, forcefields are gone, suction just about gone, feet stuck in the mud feeling on defense gone, ball going through hands and body mostly gone, cpu rarely hits bad shots as often as in the past, and the cpu come back cheese is finally gone, this is why the games seems easier than before on lower difficulties and I like it. Anyone says this game plays about the same as 16 is trippin.Last edited by Americas Team; 09-17-2016, 05:20 AM.Xbox Series X: KILLMUNGERComment
