How do you do line-up subs (starter, bench, tall, free throw, etc.) during timeouts like you could do in previous games?

Edit: Scratch that. I already found the answer. Sorry for not searching properly before asking.

for the life of me idk why 2k decides to change the simple things like play calling , substitutions etc every year. Why on earth does that have to be so difficult? These things should not have changed from 2k15

He's also DEVASTATING in the open court and can bully dunk on the last man back.

Then, when the D starts doubling you, assists galore.
I've been doing much better with Simmons after taking this advice. I can create mismatches when I get him mixed in with the second rotation SF or even PF. He splits time at SF and PF. If he's playing PF then I just work him in the post. If he's playing SF then I try to hit him on cuts to the basket. Completely changed my game plan.

Re: NBA 2K17 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread

I wrote about this in another thread, but I'm really desperate for help, so I thought I might as well give it a shot here too.

So I'm usually a guy that uses a lot of time playing MyGM simulating the games, so I only have the role of the GM. But I've accountered several problems in the 2k17 version.

          1) I can't seem to get realistic stats for my players. For example, Jimmy Butler is only averaging 13-14 points (as far as I remember), and some games he doesn't even top 5 shots, which is a pain in the a** when I'm a guy that's really into stats, and preferably the more realistic ones. Any idea of how to gameplan so my best players will take the most shots? In earlier versions you had the option of choosing your preferred scoring option, but it looks like it's been removed from the game...

          2) I have absolutely no idea as to what playbook to use, how much is fair to put in "run plays frequency" and so on. My team is all over the place no matter what constellations I've tried.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Just a guess here, but check settings and make sure your simulated quarter length is set to 12 min. If that's not it, a workaround might be to set your actual quarter length to like 6 min and make sure the setting that multiplies stats per 12 min quarter is on (sorry, can't recall name), and then do simcast.

Shot and Layup Timing online? How the hell? In past 2k's I could adjust by just releasing slightly earlier, but this one I have no idea what to do. Sometimes I barely hold the shot button and it says very late

Just trying to figure out if I'm missing something- What's the deal with layups? I've been playing the game for a while now and still don't have any confidence in doing layups. I understand that they must be timed, and I try to fill the meter on my attempts.. but I still miss them. Not often, but blowing uncontested layups are cause for frustration.

The worst part about this thing is that I have to keep looking at the meter on floor and can't pay enough mind to the animation- it's no fun. Does any one mind sharing any tips or advice on how to improve? Anything would be appreciated, thank you.

                      Here's a quick one.

What is the actual difference between: Play tight, deny and smother (off ball and on ball)?

As a fluent english speaking person, these 3 seem hard to differentiate.

What's worse is I know they've been in 2K for YEARS but I never actually learnt the in game functional difference.....

Play tight would mean play tight, deny would mean have a hand at least in the passing lane, and smother would be like inches away

Ok....so I'd ASSUME smother would be more susceptible to back door cuts? Meaning why would one EVER not just use "tight"?

From a gaming standpoint I guess I've been trying to work out the pros and cons for each. Can't see why one would ever use "deny" or "smother" when "tight" seems to be the safe version of both.....

                          Right?

I'm pretty safe from backdoor cuts; I'm playing with fire with backdoor cuts; and I'm getting eviscerated by backdoor cuts.

Does anyone of you notice a big black arrow appearing on the court randomly when initiating a play? What does it mean? Thanks

Sorry if this has been asked before.

When adjusting the minutes in the Advanced Roation timeline, can I switch positions when I give someone an extra minute. In my case with the Sixers the CPU gives Simmons the SF position, but I want him to play the PF or even C position. How can I change that?
