Re: NBA 2K17 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I have too many 3 seconds called. Almost 3 a game. Simply because a play is called by either team and the players just stand in the lane trying to get where they need to to start the play

Re: NBA 2K17 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I'm trying to setup a playbook for my expansion team Omaha Bombers. I want to be able to assign plays specifically to each player's play calling list. However, when I choose a play that I want for Buddy Hield, it also appears for George Niang my SF even though it is a play meant for a SG.
I know how to add/remove/replace plays for the entire playbook, but how can I specifically say which plays belong to certain players?
assign by play type to the players. say, there are 10 pnr plays in yor playbook, 2 of these are meant for pnr point play type, 3 are for pnr wing. assign pnr point to your point guard and pnr wing to yor shooting guard. the point guard will have 2 pnr and the shooting guard will have 3 pnr plays. some of the pnr plays may overlap.
u can only do so for pnr. the other is guard post up and post up low plays. big man usually dont get the guard post up plays. as for the rest of the plays like mid range or 3pt, once u assign the play types to the players, the same plays will apply for them.

Re: NBA 2K17 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I hope this is the right place but i struggle to get an offense going in this game, i find that my team just stands there for the most part, I try calling screens to get my ball handler free but even still nobody seems to get open and none of my dribble moves can free me from the defender, I'm hoping for some advice, thank you.Add me on XB1 GT: M Sweeeets

do the jap step move in the pnr situation at the top of the key (between 3pt line and just after half court). in doing so u can firstly have the sg with the ball and call the pnr play for the pg before crossing half court.
there are some nice simple pnr plays eg Fist 19 where yor 2 bigs will come forth for double screen. just before the bigs land the feet to set screens trigger yor jap step animation.
as i understand jab step moves do not drain yor stamina as much as the iso dribble moves.
the other way is to hold the left trigger in the protect-ball posture ( like post up ). u can do so with or without live dribble. just before the screens are set hold turbo and use the left stick to drive past the bigs by releasing the left trigger.
hope it helps.

Re: NBA 2K17 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
Does any know how to just practice Out of Bounds/Inbouding plays? And also what are some favorite ones to run
I've gotten burned a few times when games are on the line and a stoppage in play happens. My strategy of grabbing somebody and trying to out run the defender usually never gets me a good shot.Comment

Then press either right or left on the dpad (cant remember which, think it is right) and select "scoring actions"
This will get guys doing stuff.
Once you are comfortable running those actions, start calling playsComment

Re: NBA 2K17 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
what dribble moves lead to explosive movement?
i use russel westbrook often and i always feel lke im stuck in mud when trying to drive.
i know of two ways so far and thats just R2 with a cross is an explosive step and i guess the hesitation dribble(right stick to the ball hand) and LS towards the hoop. everythying else is slow.Comment

i'm not an expert but what i read is its not the explosive step that matters but (i) the space (ii) the angle that u dribble to are the key. the speed burst issue was nurfed since 2k16 patches.
if u are talking abt 2k cam view then best to operate iso dribbles is somewhere between centre court circle and 3 pt line (thats space) and going at an angle to the left or to the right (the angle). u may successfully blow past the defender for the first time with one cross but kenna stuck in subsequent tries. that's when u need the space to trigger the second cross (sam pham call it the counter). u may wan check his channel for visual illustration.
some other ways besides the hesitation will be double behind back dribble. try the spin dribble too, bit i find the animation slow
hope this makes sense

Re: NBA 2K17 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I've picked up diamond David Thompson via historic domination and he's undoubtedly a beast, especially after the Valentine's Day boost. However he doesn't have the usual set plays/ PlayStyle that most sg's have. He comes with cutter and isolation plays. What are some good plays that I can run for him to get good looks?Comment
