Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
I don't get why people are so against earning VC to level up their player. It's the same with other games. Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, God of War, Arkham games, etc. You start out with only basic stats, weapons or spells, and earn your way into greatness.
I don't want to start off averaging a triple double on my first month. I'd get tired of the game pretty quick. It's fun working your way up. It's rewarding to see your player gain more attributes and badges. And you know it's all because of your hard work.Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
mlb the show does player progression way better (but well... not much else. imo. and i love that game, just being honest).
on mlb the show you can never spend a dime on stubs (their version of vc if you're unfamiliar) and still make your player really good after playing a through a few seasons. and the way mlb works, you can play a lot of games in not that much time. in mlb 16 you only need to go to the loading screen at the start of each series. and even when there is a loading screen they're really short. so when you have to wait through a loading screen to get to the training games it's not bad.
2k you have to load up mycareer, if you click practice you have to sit through a really long loading screen while you wait to get there, then wait a few more minutes for it to actually start, then it takes a while, then you wait through another long loading screen to get back to the menu. and then after all that you get like 50 vc, and you need 1,000 vc just to unlock a ****in knee sleeve for your player lol.
I'd love it if 2k added year to year saves like mlb did 2 or 3 years ago but 2k messes with the mode too much for it to even work. it'd be awesome if after spending countless hours on one player you didn't start at 55 overall all over again though.
but just to put it in perspective, if you get an A team mate grade on the default difficulty you end up getting roughly around 600-700 VC. that means you have to play 2 games just to get a tattoo. in real life a decent size tattoo costs a few hundred bucks tops. not two games worth of an NBA players salary.
**** in real life you can go to MC sports and buy a leg sleeve for like $15, in 2k you have to play two good games to afford one lol.Last edited by timothythefirst; 09-23-2016, 02:41 AM.Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
I find it a bit funny when people say, "well, if you don't like it, don't play it." Problem with that is there are no alternatives to buy in place of said game. Thanks to licensing fees, exclusive contracts and such, each league really only has one option when it comes to sports.

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
what i don't get is, how people can justify 2k's way of milking their customers to that extend by saying it's all about capitalism. sure, i'm okay with them making money. i'm okay with them publishing a new, slightly imporved version of their game once a year. i'm okay with paying the full price for that once a year.
though i'm not okay with being squeezed like a lemon in that blatant way. it's like 2k is trying to push the boundaries as far as they can to test how much their customers would take before they jump off.
it's been said many times before: just separate mycareer from mypark. have the mypark kids invest hundreds of dollars in their clothing, in their tattoos and in their skill levels, so they can cheese around together, but make mycareer an actual game of it's own, where you have to train to improve, where you have to spend the money you earn as an nba player for your gears. is that asked for too much?Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
The game is supposed to last a year. If you are playing MyCareer and not buying any VC you'll EASILY accomplish maximum attributes for multiple characters.. Heck, I've earnt 100,000VC already this year.
This "It will cost you hundreds of hours to max your guy" well dur! Isn't that the whole idea of a game to play for hundreds of hours .. The choice is there for people to buy VC to speed up the process but we live in a world where the majority of people are impatient and lazy. They want it now, they want everything now..
2K put the time into creating the MyCareer mode, cut scenes, practice etc. Yes loading times take a while but it then goes back to people being impatient.
Buying VC is there for those who don't have the time or want things immediately. You have the option, people have succeeded and enjoyed the game modes available without buying VC..
My only issue is that things should be earned, I don't like how shortcuts can be taken with buying VC but I understand that every game has micro-transactions because they earn more from them than the game itself.Football: Manchester United
MLB: Cleveland Indians
NBA: Miami Heat
NFL: Cleveland BrownsComment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
I don't play MyCareer but the last two 2K games I had 500,000+ VC and 600,000+ VC. I didn't pay a dime. It's from hours of playing the game to death and I don't play it religiously but every other month. It's by design and it's how things are in gaming but no one is forcing anyone to buy VC or anything. I will never do it. I like grinding it out. It's more rewarding. My VC will never be used but it's there as a trophy as a way to say, "look, this is how much work you put into this game, you have half a million in VC for free."Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
This thread starter is keeping it 100 and some of you fanboys with your blind defending of greedy tactics is embarrassing. Other issues are locking all the my player modes together online and off while tied to vc so you have to play and grind everymode to upgrade. I hate playing against boring and predictable AI, but I am forced to play my career and upgrade so i can compete against the best players online. Now you can say i don't have to pay but you know many will buy VC to get that competitive advantage so I either have to pay exta as well or grind like crazy early on in a completely unfun tedious manner. Each year they remove work arounds to earning upgrades and vc more quickly while also restricting more thing behind a vc wall. It is absolutely becoming pay to play and pay to win on a game that already charges a premium. The more blind fanboys keep defending it the worse it will get until nobody can stomach it. I love the gameply improvements this year but am contemplating just giving up on my player Pro Am because of the hassle making my player competitive. Sadly pro am is what i like best.Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
The difference between 2k14 was the amount of VC you could earn. If you were hit with a social media challenge and completed your dynamic goals you could earn over 5k vc for one career game on HoF.Comment

Re: The VC issue - perfectly put in words
Is that in MyCareer or MyTeam? I had about 50,000 VC left over in 2k15; about the same in 2k16. That was after spending some for the hell of it towards the end. I played the story part of MyCareer and the rest just MyLeague 12 min qtr games.Comment
