Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki
I think they are broken in a vatiety of ways. My main issue is it seems like you cant set the same setting for multiple players. Example is when i play clev i want to stay home for everyone except james and thompson. But it will only allow me to stay home on 1 player at a time. Its almost like i have to choose a diff focus for each player. Cant do boxes and elbows for kyrie and bron. Have you had this issue?Psn: Alabamarob

Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki
I think I was able to find out what the Prerotate setting does.
I know in Sam's video about help defensive settings, he says you should put it on the opposing center who you want to rotate off of but I don't think that this is what it does. I think you are having success with these settings because of the Help defense setting being set to Auto for the opposing big. (No offense Sam, I'm a big fan)
I've done some testing and what I think it does is causes an extra defender to come help when the opponent player with Prerotate set to Yes is isolated on one side of the floor.
I posted this in the other thread about Help defense being broken, but I think this is a more appropriate thread for it:

You guys test this out and let me know if you are seeing the same thing.
Let's hope we're still getting that ScottOG stream sometime this week!Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki
You are absolutely right on this. I never did it for wings so I didn't notice the defense bringing a guy to the nail / over to help during an ISO. Centers rarely get ISO on one side of the floor so i wasn't seeing it. Is good to be corrected haha This way i get to learn too : ) I will post that vid in the OP.
I'm happy to help! Keep doing what you're doing Sam!Comment

I believe OG said in the launch stream (or maybe it was Czar) that you can have only 2 of the Focus On Player options selected at one time.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki
After the frustration of playing on ball defense, I have finally fixed it with my Xbox Elite controller.
What I found was that my movement was never on par with what the offensive player was doing no matter what I did, where I would get beat was making the diagonal movement, it was super slow, causing defenders to just blow by with the smallest of effort. This also affected my offense as any diagonal movement was bad.
Well I went into my setting the XB1 Elite controller, you can change the behavior of the analog sticks, I set it to instant, which wasn't much different than Default, BUT what I believe helped the best was the "Use Radial Calculation" setting, this has caused diagonal movement on the analog stick to be just as responsive as the XY axis.
Not only has my on ball defensive game improved but my offensive game has improved a ton.
I finally feel like I'm truly in control of the players!

Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki
Got you. So its not really an individual defensive setting its a team defensive focus. Thanks for clearing that up. Well i guess my main focus is trying to figure out how you can control who the prerotate guy is or where the help comes from. On Last gen it was done based off of individual off ball pressure. So the guys in gap would come first. If no one was in gap then the moderate guys would help. So i would put everyone in moderate and 1 guy in gap and the gap guy would always bring the help.
Do you know of a way to control who the help defender or prerotate guy is?
For the prerotate situation from what I can tell at the moment it is dependent on who the closest defender is to the side of the iso when the prerotate is triggered, not any setting. The help generally seems to come from a player in the post and someone from the wing will rotate down to defend the help defender's original assignment.
I'll try to test it some more this weekend with different configurations and see if I can find anything on that.
P.S. OG, if you're reading this thread your input would be greatly appreciated. Maybe do another stream that is archived so we can view it on demand?Comment

What is the cost for one of these controllers?Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Defensive Settings Community Wiki
They're pretty expensive new, $150 if I recall. I got mine from a friend.
I believe there are other aftermarket controllers that have some of the same settings, although I'm not too sure.
The Radial Calculation is what really saved 2k for me.
