The Mavs used to hedge fairly hard on wing PNRs to prevent ball handlers from turning the corner easily.

Well, back when Dirk could move his feet.

Ok. I always turn Ace off and make my own settings so i will know what is happening. I will leave it on for the next few games i play to see what they are doing. Then i can adjust off that.

Of course; my bad. Im at work trying to get my stuff done while contemplating the intricacies of pick and roll defense.

The CPU is definitely doing a ton of wacky things at the moment. I play with the Warriors and teams are leaving Durant and Klay wide open on pick and rolls. Also, there is a tremendous amount of double teaming by players running all the way across the floor and leaving shooters wide open to do so. (I really think double teams should be disabled entirely. NBA teams do not double like that)
Double teams off the catch were addressed in the last ACE update. Did you happen to watch the pre season game yesterday? Outside of the double teams, if you're playing against someone who's nice with GS, you're going to have to give up something. Thompson and Curry were in the top half of league in wide open attempts last season. You can play deny or tight on them off ball but when you're giving up lay ups on PnR's don't complain to me and say it's bugged.

HARD HEDGE is overly aggressive, as it should be, and it breaks your defense from being on a string. I believe most within the 2K Community are aware of this already, lol.

SELECTING YES ON PRE ROTATE, again this is overly aggressive, which it SHOULDN'T and extremely inconsistent by randomly choosing player to provide help (i.e. defensive player coming from one side of the court to the other to provide help) or prematurely pre rotating when the offensive player is in a standing, non attacking position (i.e not driving to the basket or even moving for that matter)

I would love to utilize the Pre Rotate defensive option, but refuse to due to what I mentioned above. Does anyone know, if the over aggressiveness and inconsistencies within Selecting Yes on Pre Rotate, 2K will address in a patch? Or we have to wait til next year's iteration to see if it will be coded correctly (executed correctly in basketball terms)?
I have had success utilizing the Pre Rotate in my MyLeague on a few occasions. I'll only break it out if the CPU is running iso's on the wing a lot with a good player. I think I've used it on Lowry, Wall, and Harden so far. You just have to be aware of when it is happening and be prepared to switch over to defend what you are giving up. Once the Pre Rotate triggers, I like to switch to the help defender so I can try to deflect any passes to the paint manually while still deterring the drive from the wing.

Totally up to you. I get it either way, but you have a lot of options to architect your own scheme. That's the fun in it all.

I'm referring to playing the CPU, not another user. Defenders will literally run off of Durant and Thompson to double Curry when he steps over half court if he's made a few shots.

Are you noticing this in your playtests?

Quick clarification. I'm not referring to my AI teammates double teaming. I'm referring to my CPU opponent.

With ACE on, the default settings for 'double in the post' and 'double on the perimeter' are set to 'manual' in the defensive settings.

Does this mean I will only get double teams when I call for them manually? I'm not seeing any cpu initiated double teams/traps by my AI teammates on the perimeter or in the post, with ACE on.

Yeah setting it to manual means you have to call for it with L1/LB. I think you hold it for the icon double.

Thanks Dirk. So setting these to AUTO will trigger more perimeter and post double teams by my cpu teammates?

Im sure setting them to auto means it will double when it thinks it should; Ive used manual the last couple of years.

I love using the icon double. That way you can choose which defender comes across.

For some reason I'm giving up alot of shots in the paint after made baskets. Its as if my guys just leave the opposing center by himself in the paint behind everyone else and the computer finds him for an easy basket. Happens about 5 to 10 times a game. I guess what I'm trying to say is half of the time my team doesn't get back on defense and it leads to an easy basket. Anyone have a solution for this?

Double teams are still a issue.I scored with Paul Georgee 18 points in 2 quaters and in the 3rd cpu decide to double team him after that he ended with 17 assist most of them were dunks.Next time i record it and send it to you.

Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)

Late contest on laups matter too much.

                              Random blocks doing pumpfakes.

Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.

The biggest irk for me is after I score and then the opposing centre (AI) streaks down the court to the basket. My centre (Steven Adams) has a lot less urgency and basically coughs up a layup. It leaves me feeling rather helpless. This will happen maybe 6 + times per game. Broadcast cam - the pass is being thrown to a player that I can't see.

To me its about my AI defenders placing more importance on getting between the rim and their assignment after a made basket.

Is this something that can possibly be looked at and cleaned up? Or is this something I will have to learn to accept this year? Or better yet, is it something I am maybe doing wrong that I can clean up myself?

Edit: Biggest take away from the stream yesterday was the catch hedge mechanic. I immediately implemented it with OKC and finally took down the Nuggets on Superstar. They appeared to be out of ideas offensively in the end which gave me a lot of satisfaction. I also enjoyed all of the POE defensive adjustments being explained. When the patch drops on PC it's gonna be fun trying them out.

Great to see you streaming OG! Much appreciated!
