I havnt watched OG's stream yet but it seems like he explained the "catch hedge" thing and some guys here tested it and thought it was great... can someone explain to me what it does/when to use?

Catch is when the hedge man stays in front of the ballhandler, while not letting the roll man get behind him. So he is catching the drive and roll.

sounds good, would you still enable the "Tag on roll" function then or nah?

(as for myself, I prefer giving up a three over an easy dunk any day, so I know that there might be an open shot when enable "tag the roller")

I believe tag on roll brings a weak side defender to "tag" the roller.

Essentially giving up an open shot somewhere.

        ....if I'm not mistaken....

That's right. OG says you use it sparingly for roll no pop guys who are killing you to the hoop. Think Deandre.

Yes, and also catch is a two man concept, so there's no help coming on the drive to the hoop from the screener or roller.

I had some great success (albeit against some weak teams) now understanding a lot more of how these things function in the game.

But as a PC guy, when I FINALLY get the patch I can't wait to start playing around more with the POEs, timeout adjustments etc. Really looking forward to it.

Sometimes this doesnt hold true. You will still get help every so often if you user screw up the coverage. But most of the time there is no help as you said.

                        Spoiler
I watched the first one. He doesn't really describe pre-rotate right. He thinks is means keeping your on ball defender more closed to the player you assign to pre-rotate, but what it does is bring more help to the nail when the player you assign it to is working on the wing.

He also recommends using force baseline against bigs while forcing middle otherwise. I don' think it makes for a coherent defense to have your defenders working at cross purposes like that. Either funnel guys to the middle to get stomped by your paint protecting bigs or get people baseline to protect the middle.

Da Czar has tons of info on offense, but Scott OG doesn't put any content explaining how some of the defensive functions really work. Which is frustrating becasue there's no content. For example how many adjustments can be made before things stop working or don't work? These things would be good to know.

Let's work together to fill in the blanks of what each of the below pre-sets do in defensive settings, including any descriptions and how the settings themselves are affected. I am updating this comment as I observe things in game.

The idea here is to differentiate between them and know when each is best used.

I'm filling some stuff from my own notes from OG's stream:
                            • Push off line:
                            • Boxes & Elbows: Two guys on elbows, two on block. Man concept. Make offensive player see bodies. Used to stop stars. Would not use when there are a lot of shooters. Looks like a zone but a man concept with lots of distance from other players. You see a lot of one pass away help, giving up the shot elsewhere. If a guy isolates up top a lot then this is an option online. (From alabamarob: "Boxes and elbows doesn't have to be 2 guys on block and 2 on elbows. The defender will stand on edge of the paint parallel with the person he is guarding. Its not a box in one. The floor is not always perfectly balanced. Sometimes 1 side of the floor is overloaded or there are 4 on the baseline or 4 out high.")
                            • Nothing Inside: Moderate on and off ball, go over on ball and soft hedge on ball, seems to leave your on ball and hedge settings for center alone. MIght bring double in the paint but it doesn't show in setting. Could just be a dig, but when I assigned it to a player I already had dig in place so maybe it was wasn't that. Still, commentary called it a double, though double were all still showing manual (taken from my observations of settings after assigned to player).
                            • Force Drive: Smother on ball, tight off ball, over, soft hedge on the ball carrier. Make him choose to get away from outside pressure, try to take away the perimeter shot. Leaves the screen settings in place that you had in place before, if any (from my observations of defensive settings after this is assigned).
                            • Force Jumper:
                            • Play Physical: Smother, go under, force them to shoot.
                            • Make Him Score:
                            • Give it Up: Smothering the ball, trailing over top of ball screen, blitzing ball screens and double teaming the drive, but not double off the catch.
                            • Stay Home: Don't give help. While play tight still has some help principles, Stay doesn't.
                            • Make Him Work: Deny off ball, jump out hard on screen, go over top on ball screens, smothering on ball, deny off ball
                            • Straight Up: Moderate on and off ball.
                            • Shrink the Floor: Off ball gap, go under, hard hedge.
                            • No Threes:
                            • Switch Everything: (I assume this is switch all on ball and off ball screens, but OG didn't specifically say)
                            • Junk: Show 3-2 or 2-3 zone & go to man on the first pass.
                            • Focus on Stars: Pressure on them, doubles. (not sure exactly what he meant by "pressure" in terms of settings, could include a lot of things).

                            What about the rest?

Also please check to see if what I have here is right, or add more detail to whatever.

Ok, I'll change it. But that description was a direct quote from OG's stream. BUt he was going over stuff quickly so he may have oversimplfied, or maybe there's some AI flexibility depending on who has the ball.
