Beautiful switching forces a missed 3 late in the shot clock.
Looks great. The only issue i have is that the big (im guessing Drummond) comes up far too high to tag the roll man. I wish 2k would design it so that taggers would just go to the space between the restricted area and the dotted circle. Would make it look more authentic.

We Don't know how ACE work on a fundamental level, to make this statement. We know how a scheme works according to Scott. But ACE as a Menu and its functionality we don't know what the hell we're doing because there is no constant feedback. We don't know if we do X, will it Cancel Y. One there was never a tutorial done to explain how to use this "new" ACE, we are making a lot of assumptions based on "points of emphasis".

This is more true for pick and roll, but there are too many rotations happening even when you play off ball that are nowhere near what you would see even in junior high basketball.

ACE on for both CPU and especially user teams is not working as intended on defense. I expect there will be work on this in the next patch.

What type of player would you use each pick and roll D setting against. Can someone give examples ?

I broke all pick and roll hedge defenses down there. Hopefully that helps.

I'm not sure, I believe it will do individual settings, too. You won't see it in the menu though, only that your guys are playing differently.

Here's a full game using the "Gap Everybody" strategy I got from alabamarob. This was my best defensive game I've had yet. This was played on Hall of Fame using the default sliders.

The CPU Hawks had a team full of shooters with Steph Curry, Kevin Love, Channing Frye, Steve Novak, and Gary Harris. I had everyone set to Off-Ball Gap except for Curry, Novak, and Harris, which had Moderate Off-Ball pressure.

I managed to hold the CPU to 37% shooting and only 14 points in the paint through the full game.

The game tips off at 10:00. I go through my defensive settings at around 15:00.

There are two more videos on the same channel of the next two games of the series where I still played well, but didn't have quite as good defensive games.

Sorry for the lack of game sound.

Let me know if you guys have any questions about how I run this scheme.

I know you guys mean well and want the game to play intelligently. But, "Gap Everybody" strategy, is not a strategy, it is a band-aid.

Depends on your philosophy and who you are playing. It is definitely a real basketball strategy used in college and the nba. You play against a team with no shooters and there will be alot of teams that gap everyone and clog the paint. You run a lineup full of drivers and no shooters and you will see some gap everybody.

Watch the chicago bulls this year, they will see alot of gap this year with that wade and rondo back court. Its why teams always like to keep shooting on the floor.

Last year we played the Grizzlies and they ran, Webber, Lance, Allen, Jamychael, and i think Hollins. The Hawks were gap everything. Then Matt Barnes came in and hit some jumpers and Hawks went 4 gap.

Can't remember if it's already been talked about in this thread, but can someone tell me with screen help rules, if I set to help and no rotation on curry, does this like double curry when he's on the ball or will a weak side defender just come and sit behind the whole pick and roll to potentially defend the roll or drive ?

Also, is it a risk to use auto on screen help rules because if your playing against maybe the clippers this could mean that Reddicks defender could be the help helper and leave him open so teams like these with good shooters, should you stick to help and no rotation. So I would only use auto against a team like the bucks where almost no one can shoot 😂

                              Neither.

Help and No Rotation means the defender assigned to the player will provide a little help off ball but will not leave his man, in this case, Curry. It will not bring any additional defenders to Curry.

It's basically a mid way point between setting Curry's defender to Auto, which means he will, in some cases, leave Curry alone, and setting him to No Help, which means he will not leave Curry even if it means ignoring a nearby driver to the basket from the wing.

Help and No Rotation is an off ball defensive setting, not a screen defense setting, so I'm not sure what you're thinking about with the way you worded your question. If you want additional defensive focus on Curry during screens, you can set screen rules to double if you want, which will leave the screen setter alone. That's not a great idea if Klay is setting it, but you can use that setting.

If you want a little more cheating defensive help to come from a nearby defender to concentrate on Curry, you could set pre-rotate too On for Curry. In that case, you will see nearby defenders on the wings or one pass away cheat toward Curry, for example, at or around the nail (weak side free throw line) if Curry has the ball around the strong side wing.

That guy can also help with pick and roll defense but will probably prioritize Curry over the roll man, allowing your defending big to be more free to deal with the roll/pop pick setter.

If Curry is lighting you up, you can also use some packaged defensive adjustment settings specifically assigned to Curry, such as Boxes & Elbows, Make Him Work, Push Off the Line, or whatever. You can find descriptions of what some of those do here.

Nice breakdown Lorenzo. Now, does setting No Help on Curry mean than Curry's defender will Not help off Curry, or does is mean players will not help of other players on Curry? I thought it was the opposite but it's one of the few settings I haven't played around with much yet.
