Okay, now I see your point. As someone who has played basketball and is a die-hard NBA (and Detroit Pistons) fan, playing 2K and making adjustments in game is like second nature to me. If I play Fifa (which is hella fun), I have no other knowledge about soccer other than "Kick ball in net". I have no knowledge of soccer strategy, so putting me in charge of strategy during a Fifa match would not likely end in a win for me. In that respect, I do agree that 2K does have somewhat of a steep learning curve, although setting the difficulty to Pro or Rookie can help flatten out the curve.

BTW I mess with the sliders purely to make gameplay more realistic (and challenging), not to make it easier to beat the CPU.

I can call no hedge/over on all balls screens to limit interior shots and 3pt shots, but I will get rained on in the midrange. Its a battle of adjustments just as much as skill, and I love it personally.

If you want, you can leave ACE on auto and all defensive settings on Auto and just play as you would like, and your coach should choose the best defensive settings for you based on the personnel on the floor currently.

Unfortunately ACE is broken, if on they never change there adjustment . It's always on the same team focus . Also on offense some team focus is not even highlighted at all. It still has not been fix .

I guess it's best to play with ACE off and do your own team focus setting for offense and defense .

If you understand the game plan defensive setting use that too.

Guys, I think I'm missing some defensive settings. Am I going crazy? I was just watching one of Sam Pham tutorials and he started talking about extend pressure. I've obviously seen people mention this on here, but could never find it. Then I saw Sam's video, and he showed it at the bottom of the defensive settings menu.

Except, it's not there for me. My menu only goes down to Help Rules, and then I can't scroll any further. No Extend Pressure, and no Tag on PNR.

Am I going crazy? Has anyone else noticed this? Is there some way I need to initialize it?

Extend Pressure and Tag Roller only appear under individual players. Hit RB and go down to the bottom, you should find them there.

But that's what I'm talking about: A guy like you (with your background, knowledge and approach to the game) should not grind wins on All Star, a guy like you should play Hall of Fame and think about giving the CPU boosts to get a challenge Or is Hall of Fame just for Phil Jackson and Coach K?

If all that you know and all that you are willing to put into the game is enough to grind wins on All Star, what should avarage players do?

Personally, I just see too many cheesy things on HOF, and its easier to make All Star tough than HOF un-cheesy.

But I see your point, 2K is a very in-depth game, and it is hard to jump in as a beginner. While 2K is generally much better than Madden in all facets of gaming, I think that how Madden uses its skills trainer and tutorials is far and above what 2K has. Madden teaches basic moves and skills, and teaches in-depth how to read and attack coverages. 2K greatly needs a similar tutorial that can help newbies and inexperienced basketball players, as well as keep their die-hard basketball junkies up to date on new advanced strategies, defensive assignments, etc.

For newbies On gameplan defense setting they need to add a quick Video on how each one works when you click on each of them and more of a description what each does.

My problem is that I think that All Star is already very cheesy. In fact I think you can witness much cheese also on Rookie and Pro. It doesn't really matter there, because you get a huge slider boost for compensation, but when you take that away and insert equal sliders you will see that the cheese is there, too.

I never played Madden, but imo what NBA2K needs most is a balanced gameplay and real difficulty levels. If my CPU controlled teammates played as good on defense (or better on lower difficulty levels) as the opponents CPU controlled players there would be no problem at all, but that's not happening. On no difficulty level.

Last week I tried setting all sliders to 50 with the various difficulty levels and I didn't see much difference. I lost on Rookie with equal sliders, my teammates did nothing, absolutely nothing, to stop the opponent.

Here is the thread I made about that: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...hey-exist.html

Are there any settings that I can just use and have fun with the game? Settings I can use and win or lose games more like teams in real life do?
I mean, what the hell does 2k think I wanna do with my spare time: enjoy a ball game or spend many many days trying to figure out how to fairly defend other teams? What a joke.
It is time for 2k to step up their game and make this *hit more enjoyable.
I posted a comment similar to this. Sometimes I just want to pop in the game and play not worry about how I should defend each player on the floor pause the game a million times to make adjustments and overthink I understand making in realistic but this is to much lol

The short answer NO... But to be fair it is realistic. The PNR is the most dominant offensive strategy and sometimes in real life, the roller is not covered especislly after a couple of ball rotations or a weakside off-ball screen.

What ive come to realize and im pretty sure most of you are starting to realize is that this game is so damn good its to the point that we want it perfect. For example, I coach high level AAU ball in the U.S. and as a coach, when i come up with a gameplan i expect my guys to follow it 100% to the law. The problem is that NEVER happens and coaches on here can attest to that lol... The same logic (for me) applys to this game. I feel like im a coach and i expect these players to do exactly what i input but thats not sim. Maybe 2k factured that in here some type of way lol.

I wish they had an attribute or tendency called "follow the gameplan".... A high rating will mean that this player will run the offensive play and do his defensive assignment. This will beva good attribute for role players. A low rating mean he will deviate from the play time to time and gamble or misread the defensive gameplan. This attribute can be a gift or a curse but it resembles real life.

That rating would be great. Even though the iq ratings should cover that. Nothing worse than having a guy on your team that cant run the play or follow an assignment.

Guys, I haven´t read the whole thread, but I´ve watched Sam Phans tutorials on Defense.

I´m still having problems with PnR Defense. (MyTeam, Ruby League)
I though using soft hedge should be the best option here. (soft hedge + go over on PnR + help with no rotation)

I can defend on-ball, but my big man always helps and lets his player roll to the basket, even if I defend perfectly on-ball.

Okay, I can play off-ball defense on the roll man. Sure, but my AI on-ball defender has no chance against good PGs.

What´s the best way to defend PnRs then?
