Are you saying if I'm getting killed inside to set to dig double team post?
    How's he scoring on you?

He kept finding himself free in the paint and also scoring put backs

        on-ball tight/off-ball auto/force baseline
PnR defense: over/catch/over/catch; switch off-ball screens
        - you still wanna go over/under manually, depending on the specific opponent

        3/4 bottom / no pre-rotate / switch all / help & no rotation / help

        > Off-ball settings for PG-SF:

great shooters = deny, good shooters (75+) = tight, ok shooters = moderate, bad shooters: gap
PG: extend pressure (unless your PG is not a good defender)

        >Bigs:
off-ball pressure 'auto' (only go tight/deny on extremely good shooters)

        - Great post players: dig ('double-team post')

        >ACE packages ('POE'):
        Shrink the floor/play physical
        - Only use these if you have set the PnR defense as seen above, otherwise the CPU will hard hedge, which is terrible.

Your big is very slow? Try no hedge (center) instead of catch hedge.

Also, this year, you have to play off-ball at least 30-40% of the time, otherwise the CPU will leave the paint wide open.
I tried this the other night and found, for me at least, I went from giving up maybe mid 40's shooting % to over 50%. The difference was PIP.

So I went back to selecting only true dribble penetration threats for the Help setting and put a bunch of other guys back to No Help. I also went to going under on the ball handler and catch on center. Replayed the same game against the same team and got them back down to mid 40's. This was a very big/rebounding heavy team though without a lot of perimeter threat.

My remaining problem is I lots the points off foul shots battle something like 22-12, but that's probably another issue, and could be in part too much of me trying to block shots at the end of possessions and having such a perimeter heavy team that I don't get to the foul line enough.

So I like the adjustments but I think, with all the AI issues in the game about help and guys leaving their man, you have to be really careful and not just apply one standard set of adjustments. It really matters what kind of team you have and who you're playing because defensive AI issues give you very little room for error.

It seems like the most popular Screen Help Rule is 'help and no rotation', could anyone explain exactly what that means?

It means that when your opponent is running pick and roll, your defenders not directly involved in the play will show a little help as needed toward the paint as the play unfolds without leaving their man.

From memory the other options are Help and Auto.

The problem with either is the AI too often abandons a guy and leaves him alone for a pass and score, or open rebound putback opportunity.

i just got destroyed by the grizzlies and i was the home team with marc gasol hitting a career high 43 points. I did have injuries to both Favors and Gobert so i'm putting it down to that mainly but still its too high. What specific settings should i put on a centre like Gasol?
I set the double team post to dig in that game, could that have made things worse for me? Also should i mark Gasol tightly or smother on ball? or should I leave it as auto

So what's the deal with usering and switch rules? I'm talking on ball, on ball center, off ball all set to switch and switch set to all.

It seems like in Sam's videos he mentions that if you user off ball it will "cancel" the switch on an off ball pick if your player is involved. This seems stupid because in the settings you're telling the AI to switch so you would expect them to but apparently if you're involved they won't. And if that's the case do they go over or under?

And what happens when you're usering on ball and the opponent sets a pick on you. Again the settings say that you should switch and become responsible for the screener but the AI doesn't seem to want to switch again. So what are they going to do? What type of hedge?

What would you say is the best settings approach for the actually defender? I generally plat 5, 25 to 50 Defensive assist. 0 boxout assist and always Contest. I play very good defense but still not to my liking as I slide too much

Depends on how he was killing you and who you guarded him with. Gasol is a well rounded offensive player.
